“Our last walk of the year on the 30th Dec 2023, resulted in us having a small refreshment stop here. We were warmly welcomed, upon entering this gem of a traditional pub. The menu looked to be a great choice of the usual pub food. I'll note here that there's a large selection of pies. Which included their Festive December Pie. We weren't hungry on this occasion so chose their basket food, which was reasonably priced and arrived quickly. The rest room facilities were clean and tidy, and I'll note the men's was larger than most for this area. A queue for these would be a rare thing I'd say. In summary a cosy atmosphere, and warm unlike many pubs I've visited recently. I am looking forward to another walk in this area, so I can try out the pies of The George and Dragon.”

“Went for Christmas Day Lunch, with my wife and a friend. Food was hot, well cooked and well presented with decent quantities - no skimping! No issues whatsoever; apart from the fact that we may need to book months earlier next year! We are irregular customers, and have never had a reason to complain about anything over the years we have been using The Black Horse.”

“Me and my wife came here and I honestly have no bad words to say. Firstly the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and just pleasant to be around. They seemed to enjoy working there which is always good to see. The food was incredible and loved everything we ordered and the staff even helped pick and amended orders to please us. Again great service. The place itself is lovely with music in the background at the perfect volume as not too loud or quiet. Also had an old fashioned cocktail which was very very good (and I’m a stickler for an old fashioned!). Will definitely be coming back again”

“We hold a monthly craft meeting at the Maxwell. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. The team open early for us, which is amazing of them. We are always made to feel welcome and Flo is always so hospitable and helpful. We love how accessible the location is too. The food is great, we just wish there was breakfast service too!! ☺️”

“The beauty is the pricing… It’s like a cold breeze passing by…. It’s just one forth the price from where ever you have a glass of beer…. Wide range to select and drink from.. “Eddies is a friendly off licence and grocery shop. Owner is very much interested in customer feed back both to improve service and improve the range of product. Parking always available either in the front of the shop or nearby free car park which is only couple of minutes away. All day to day essentials are well stocked up. Some halal products such as sausages and salami are available in shop. Owner is willing to take orders for meat which can be delivered the following day however I have not tried this service yet. Overall a pleasant shopping experience every time you go in. Finally a much needed late night off licence and grocery for the area.”
