This visit, set at the turn of summer to autumn, saw two styles of plating shift from vivid colours to the muted tones of fallen leaves, wheat, chestnuts and early autumn earth. “My husband and I had been to this restaurant a few years ago for our wedding anniversary which was unfortunately cut short as our youngest son had an incident at school (he's SEN) and we hadn't really thought about it again until today. I had booked a table at a Mexican restaurant in Bexleyheath for my birthday and made them aware it was my birthday. I had turned up at the booked time to be told they had a private function and unceremoniously turned away with zero apology or acknowledgement of the trauma they had caused me! I was absolutely devastated but I saw the sign for Il Vesuvio and some new hope burned in me. Whilst the restaurant was fully booked the staff so kindly found us a table we could have for just under two hours and they treated us like royalty! We enjoyed starters and mains from the main and specials menu (we would have had pudding but we were full!) nothing was too much trouble and everything was gorgeous! I enjoyed whitebait and octopus, whilst my family enjoyed vongole, carbonara and calamari. Everything was piping hot, fresh and delicious and they even gave us some complimentary limoncello! I can't believe I had all but forgotten this absolute gem! Thank you for taking my day from despair to joy and I heartily encourage everyone to come to this amazing venue! Thank you so much for making my birthday so special!”

“We visited The Clock House in May. Having never been whilst it was Drakes we were excited to see if it lived up to it's previous reputation. I can safely say it did - and we had a brilliant experience. It's a close shave between this restaurant and Stovells in Chobham for the title of most special restaurant we've visited in Surrey. Clock House may just take it - as not only is the food first class, so is the atmosphere, dining room and service. Looking forward to the next special occasion which might warrant a return here. Let's hope they achieve a Michelin star too - they deserve it.”

“Lovely little Italian in Eastcote. Food was very tasty and favourite dish was caprino al forni (with chillies added in). Starters were nice (brushetta and calamari) but the mains were better. For dessert the honeycomb cheesecake was the favourite. Not the cheapest of places but in current climate nothing is. Will definitely be returning.”

“A really nice, local family run restaurant. The Sunday roast is great! They even catered for me being a vegetarian, by giving me some Quorn Sausages with all the roast veg and gravy. My wife and Nan had the roast beef, which I as really tender and well cooked. Our Son had a tower chicken burger, so we were all looked after and catered for. They seem to have a great breakfast and lunch menu, with teas and coffees also available. We look forward to going back. Thanks.”

“Delicious food with a huge variety at a reasonable price. We managed to secure a table for a Saturday evening. The restaurant is spacious and its acoustic features are commendable. It wasn't disturbingly noisy even though it was full. Every single dish was served within 20 minutes and the quality was superb. We will be sure to return here in the future.”

Their full English breakfast was great value for money and was really filling and great portion sizes. The bacon was crisp and their sausages weren’t too greasy which was a perfect combination. “Abruzzo in London. I've found it now! I've been looking for a place to eat Arrosticini and I've found this newly open restaurant – Orfeo restaurant. The expectations were high as I am from the region of Abruzzo and I wanted to bring my friends to try Arrosticini. From the moment of the booking, all staff was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Marco, the manager, made our dinner special. I felt I was in my home town in Abruzzo. My friends who are from different countries felt amazed by the warm Abruzzo welcoming. The food was fresh and so delicious. Finally, we ate the traditional Arrosticini served in a unique way. My vegetarian friend ate the traditional 'Pallotte Cace e Ove', she really loved it. The restaurant atmosphere was pleasant, ideal for a dinner with friends. A bonus, it is only two minutes walking from the overground. Orfeo restaurant lived up to my expectations. My friends and I will definitely come back soon. Highly recommend!”
