“The best fish ’n’ chips in the area. PERIOD. Anybody saying the Kingfisher on Parrin Lane is better — and the other comments — listen up. Yes, they are super friendly at the Kingfisher. They also close at 8:30, not the 9 p.m. this one does. And you can’t complain that this no longer takes card payments because neither does the Kingfisher, but this at least allows bank transfer — so basically it takes card payments. Also, saying it’s expensive? Last night I got a LARGE FISH & CHIPS with a pot of GRAVY and a pot of MUSHY-PEAS (both of which are far superior to Kingfisher’s) for £11.20. I think that’s very fair. I’m posting the pics here so you can see how amazing they are — and that’s after going to Lidl and walking 10 minutes home. Hot, delicious, and not greasy. 10/10. Give them a try at least once so you KNOW for yourself. :)”

“Had a meal for two last night. Well worth the money. Chose keema madras nicest I've ever tasted and i can moan if it's not right. Second choice chicken tikķa masala beautiful a little bit too much coconut for me but was lovely. All in all the food well worth the money. Definitely ordering again x”

“My friend and I visited John Gilbert on 19th December for lunch. Service was very good (by Casey). Both our meals were very tasty and served lovely and hot. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A nice relaxing ambience. I would definitely recommend this pub both for food and service.”

“I had heard good things about this place from a friend and as I was travelling home from work my son amd I decided to swing in. We were made to feel very welcome, the staff are really lovely and the food was top notch. Needless to say we left feeling very full and happy. They have a number of good deals during the week so doesn't hurt your wallet either. We will see you soon”

“So enjoyed this our first visit and far exceeded our expectations- easy and free to park by simple registering your vehicle at the console by the bar. Spacious, well lit, beautifully set out with windows offering views of the canal basin ,its boats and nice canal walks in both directions. Friendly and very welcoming staff. Plenty of tables inside and on the terraces outside. Lovely atmosphere and ambiance and includes historic photos of canal and boating life. Dog and child/ family friendly. Usy on our mid lunchtime mid week visitGreat selection on menu and reasonable prices and such delicious food ( great coffee too) Will certainly visit again soon and likely do so regularly from hence. “Great gym, spacious and clean with friendly staff. Ladies only area is fantastic, plenty of machines and huge fans keeping the room cool even on a 25 degree day. Sauna, steam room, sanarium and hydro pool were all very clean and not too busy (I went at 1-3pm) everything working well/hot enough inside the rooms. I usually use Whitefield but I was in the area and was really happy I chose to go here in the end. Will definitely be back again soon.”

I wanted to give a special mention to Ethan Green, who went above and beyond when I visited recently. He kindly helped me carry a couple of boxes of items that had been left at the branch, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made a real difference. It’s rare to come across service that feels so genuine and caring, and it really stood out to me. “Read some bad reviews on here, but we were very pleasantly surprised. No gloop, just very fresh veg/crunchy and decent portions. No oily mess. Tender chicken in plentiful amounts and good portion of ginger. Excellent really. I nearly popped back in to say how good it was, especially for mass produced food. Probably on high price end of medium, but very satisfied”

“Don’t expect more than what you’re paying for, but for the price is more than enough. The food is good, tasty, the portions are big and the price is cheap. It doesn’t take too long and is better than many cheap places from around. We always order the rice and the salt and pepper chips are the best. The wonton soup is really really nice too and the sweet chili chicken is the best. The price is usually never more than 15 pounds. We also ordered nuggets for my niece, she is a child and loved them. They’re not very tasty but they are nice.”

“Visited Spice Zone in Walkden twice and both times excellent. Food is tasty, fresh and hot excellent service from start to finish from taking order to collecting all. Turnaround is quick. 20mins max First time was for chicken tikka kebab wraps which are value for money, flame grilled chicken meal also value for money and delicious. Wraps were packed out and chips in the meal were very good fries Second time round mushroom bargee as a side dish, main:chicken tikka khumbi dupiaza and onion rice along with chapati's which my partner and I shared it was more than enough it's a must to try this takeaway excellent value and all freshly prepared on site in a very clean hygienic kitchen. Staff professional and very pleasant and I would highly recommend. Go on try this takeaway support a local eatery business you will not be disappointed,menu offers a vast selection and meets all tastes.”
