Weekend brunch in Manchester

“Stayed here with my partner and our dog. Loved the place. Room was big and spotlessly clean, breakfast was perfect and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Loved the pub downstairs. No food was being served other than breakfast when we stayed. We tried the Indian upstairs which was lovely and also ate at the bulls heads just up the road. We will be back.”

“Really friendly and kind staff, clean shop and fast service. Perfect for getting some quick protein after your run. Good, clean and well lit takeaway where you can check your phone, have a breathe and eat. Very pleased with the chicken I had but I would recommend some more pepper, add some paprika and a dash cumin and it would be amazing. Great value, lovely staff, good food very pleased!”

“We used this venue as a campervan stopover. Which was mostly OK. When we arrived to pitch up the parking area was pretty well at capacity due to a Bowls match, tis cleared after about 2 hours or so and we were able to pitch up. As this was free we decided to meet with my sister and partner and my son. The 5 of us had a pleasant meal in the pub which we enjoyed. I would suggest that the proprietors consider putting an outside drinking water tap and marked bins for waste recycling. I have no doubt that we shall be visiting again.”

“The Hesketh is hands down the best place for a Sunday roast! I had the chicken roast and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, juicy chicken with crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and rich gravy that tied everything together beautifully. The portions were generous, the presentation spot on, and the flavours reminded me of a proper homemade Sunday dinner, only better! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear the team really take pride in what they do. If you’re looking for the perfect Sunday roast in the area, The Hesketh is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be back next week !”

“Was recommended this place by a work colleague and a group of 9 of us went. Parking can is available outside with plenty on side streets. Nice friendly vibes and smells emanating inside were delightful. We decided to book a room (can seat around 12 people I reckon and maybe more) and only negative criticism was that we did have to ask on several occasions for place to be cleaned up. This place can get busy. Complimentary soap was the perfect start and a nice touch. Ordered the lamb Zumbina and it was delightful. The meat was succulent and the flavours really lovely. The food arrived very quick and even partook in the chicken brost which I highly recommend. Only item I didn’t enjoy was the fasha and it’s a very distinguished taste. Not for me anyway. Card payments accepted and friendly service. Toilet (only 1) which has a bidet and was clean. Could do with another ideally and washroom facilities also available. A place I enjoyed visiting and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending and returning.”

“We had a lovely dinner here the other night to celebrate our anniversary and our server was the wonderful Nancy who despite having a full section of tables throughout our entire meal was so attentive and professional. She made us feel so welcome and helped make our celebration so special. We loved our dinner and will return for other special occasions because of the attention to detail Nancy had and how all of her reccomendations hit the mark.”

“This place is my favourite in Manchester. I’ve been there many times and was never let down. The food tastes great and is fresh and presentable. The staff are extremely friendly. It’s difficult for me to pick a favourite meal as all are delicious from Peri Peri grilled Chicken to burgers and mixed grilled kebabs.”

“Had an amazing dinner; the fish tacos, and halloumi and broccoli dish were our favourites. Enjoyed the wine and we shared the basque cheesecake to finish. Food was sensational and all the staff really friendly and we didn't feel rushed considering it was a Friday evening.”

“Got there at lunchtime and it was lovely and quiet. I went for the standard carvery and the other half had the chicken burger. The carvery was lovely and fresh with good sizes of meat. The chicken burger was good, apparently, but the coleslaw let it down. All in all a good quick stop off for a lunch that was hot and a good size. The cake slices were huge!”

“Went here before a gig, was a lovely meal! The place is tucked away from the main street, and thankfully takes walk ins, so we wandered in and got seated straight away. Service was quick and friendly, and the food! Great sharing plate for starters, and then both shared red/green curries for mains with sticky rice. Cannot fault any aspect of the experience.”

“The chips here are the frozen type in the fryer but they are my favourite type so this place is already a win there. Sometimes they cook the chips until crispy and golden and oh lord they are heavenly. The salt and pepper chips from here when they're golden and crispy are incredible. I've recommended this place to a bunch of people. My only issue is the free food item when you spend X amount. They should really ask which free food item customers would like then you don't end up binning something you don't like. We don't like spring rolls but we do like fortune cookies or prawn crackers. We always bin the spring rolls.”

“What a bloody amazing pub! The last and final remaining public house I've visited in Poynton and I'm absolutely ashamed of myself that it wasn't the first pub I'd ever visited! I've driven past well over a thousand times in the last ten years after the traffic chaos on the mad mile and I've never popped in. More fool me than you I promise! Now... I've never felt so guilty I've never popped in. If you want airs and graces, go elsewhere. This is a no-nonsense pub with a down to earth owner with plainspoken patrons. The locals here are as welcoming as the owners. Considering it was my debut visit and they hadn't a clue who I was they treated me like family but I was just some randomer who came in with a little Jack Russel! I walked in here with my dog and she was instantly welcomed. No other pub in the village except Cask has ever extended the same virtue, we've always been asked to leave or sit outside! I'm really sorry not to remember the landlady's name but she was so nice to our group. I did promise her a revisit so I hope to update the review in due course. Thanks for having us x”
