“Sadly we have just come to the end of our week in Swallowdale. This truly is a stunning property on the edge of the River Yare. The owners really have thought of everything to ensure your stay is enjoyable. The property is immaculate and well equipped. Children and pets are well catered for, in particular the ability to lock off the upper decking to keep your little ones and your pets safe. Although we visited in winter, the property was warm and comfortable despite the temperatures outside dropping to - 3 . The double bed was very comfortable and we have managed to catch up on some great sleep this week. If you enjoy fishing then this property is a great spot to fish from. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. We have stayed in a number of lovely cottages on the Broads and this by far exceeds any we have previously stayed in. We would love to visit again in the summer as I am sure the experience would be even more enjoyable. On a negative, I will have to wait until next year to get a week in the summer months as this year is pretty much fully booked. That is a testament as to how lovely and popular this property is. That said I would definitely recommend the property at any time of year though. We wanted a quiet relaxing week away and Swallowdale provided it. Thank you for a lovely relaxing week.”

“Beautiful, peaceful, and stylish. We have visited Oxnead House cottages for the last six years and have stayed in the lodge, the dairy, and the stable. All are beautifully presented and are individual and set in their own plots with their own fenced patio and garden. They are very clean and stylish, with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Ian and Pia are the perfect hosts, discreet but always on hand, should you need them, nothing seems too much if you require anything. The village is friendly but quiet, with a post office, which has a shop and cafe as well. The local pub does good food and is 200 metres away with views of the staithe (marina) and the meadows. There is even an indoor swimming pool in the village, available for private hire in one hour slots. The location of the cottages is nicely central so that Norwich, Great Yarmouth, and all the attractions that Norfolk and Suffolk have to offer are easily reached. All in all we find Oxnead House perfect.”

“I cannot speak highly enough of the service we received from Winkworth Hellesdon. From the first call I had with Andy regarding selling our family home of 40 years (one of the oldest properties in the village) to completion, I could not fault the team at Winkworth (Andy, Daryl and Rachel). They were much more enthusiastic about selling the property than other estate agents (we had 3 local agents in to assess the property); this along with competitive fees made it a very easy choice for us which we did not regret. The write-up advert and photos for the house on Right Move was comprehensive and captured the character of the property (a critical component when selling property) and we were subsequently informed/guided every step of the way during the selling process (from pricing, would-be buyers, solicitors, progress on the sale.....right through to completion.....in fact, I got quicker updates regarding the sale from Rachel than I did directly from our solicitors). “Just back from another excellent relaxing break on the river bank at King Line Cottages. We stayed in Kate's Lodge, the smallest of the properties, which sleeps three people. It's been refurbished, and it's clean, comfortable and very peaceful. Clayre, the site manager, and her colleague Julie were very helpful and friendly. We only wished we could have stayed longer, but we will be back next year.”

“Chris and the guys at Barford van hire were so helpful, firstly when we hired a Movano in May 2025, which I returned early after 4 hours. Then 2 days later I hired a DAF 7.5T lorry for a day to help with a house move. All went well until I was returning it in the evening. I was about 2 miles away on the rural road leading to Barford when an over-hanging tree branch clipped the big nearside door mirror, which shattered and disappeared. I knew I’d have to pay for a replacement and was expecting a big bill, but was pleasantly surprised to receive an invoice for just £108. They will also give you 10% of the hire price if you have a Blue Light Card. I would definitely hire a vehicle from Barford Van & Car Hire again. Updated on 29/9/25 We booked to hire another 7.5T lorry but had to cancel just hours before picking it up today. Chris was so understanding and gave us a full refund, which was amazing. I doubt that many other companies would have acted this way. The guy below gave a ridiculous 1 star review because Barford have a 150 mile per day hire limit after which you pay just 12p per additional mile, therefore if he wanted to do 250 miles it would have cost just an extra £12 when he returned the vehicle. The hire from Enterprise would probably have cost at least £12 more. Clearly he didn’t do the maths.”
