“Another great Sunday roast dinner at The Castle. All cooked to perfection. I had the roast pork belly which was delicious and had a great crackling. My wife had the roast chicken wrapped in bacon which was also delicious and nicely cooked and very succulent. A great selection of vegetables and very decent portions too. A delicious lime cheesecake with vanilla ice cream finished off the meal nicely! All attractively presented and delivered with polite and friendly service.”

“The room was fine for the price. Clean enough and quiet enough. When arriving, at first blush the hotel looks almost abandoned; really gave us pause. Shrubbery covered in vines, weeds and grass a foot high, wooden siding decaying and in need of paint. A little attention to the outside of the building would make all the difference in the world; first impressions are very important.”

“Kathy was our server. We came before a few weeks ago but the fish and chips were changing if so she gave us free drinks. This time we had the fish and chipsLarge portion of fish in nice light batter. Loads of salad. Kathy was very attentive and hard working wiping down tables clean as soon as people had finished. This Harvester is very nice and clean . The music is not very nice and maybe could be just a bit quieter. Very friendly staff too”

“Collected our 6.5kg turkey this Christmas, and had the usual wonderful friendly welcome from Sam and Fred, despite them being so busy. The turkey was for all of the the most amazing bird we have ever cooked. The juices that poured out of the meat as I carved it and the fantastic flavour were just wonderful. our guests from all over England were bowled over by it - brilliant! The chipolatas that went with it had a great flavour also. Well done Stansted Farm shop and all the best for 2016.”

Kayleigh sends regular videos and photos so we know he is OK. He loves his walks with the other dogs and it is a home from home with all his creature comforts. And a bonus - she’s in the village!
