“I feel like I’ve come to the party late but now want to keep coming back…so I’ve been here x3 in as many weeks and already got a date in the diary to come back next week. Down a little lane that looks like you’re going nowhere then turn left and boom…the beautiful, unspoilt Taplow lake. Not only stunning views from the car park but also from every angle in the outdoor decked cafe. Coffees are wonderful and a really good size, cakes are delicious and the brunch is super. Fresh ingredients, well put together. The service on all three visits has been exceptional. Attentive, friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the menu. It has a great Scandinavian feel sitting on the deck, with nice food, looking over a lake surrounded by trees watching the wildlife and kayakers and paddle boarders. What’s not to like?!”

“Came for Christmas dinner at the shire horse. Was greeted with a warm welcome from Mel, who seated us. We had booked the pre-ordered Christmas dinner. The food was brought out in a timely manor, and Amelia who looked after our table always checked in with us. Each dish was impeccable, especially impressed with the steak dinner as it was cooked perfectly to my liking. The atmosphere is warm, calm, and bubbly,a beautiful balance. Thank you to Mel, Stanley, Amelia and all the staff at the shire horse for making this Christmas special x”

From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or accommodating. They were attentive throughout our visit and kept us informed about when our meals would be served. “Absolutely wonderful find tucked away near Maidenhead but definitely worth a visit; if you are looking for a standard curry house, there are other good places; if you want a gastronomic experience not to be forgotten, visit this place.
