“Great place to find. Lovely coffee, if a slightly restricted menu.”
“Welcoming safe pub especially for females entering on their own. Bar staff are excellent and a good variety of alcoholic drinks and bar snacks. Jukebox is brilliant.”
“We stopped over at this cafe while on our way to a hike. Although the cafe was full, staff were very friendly and had time to talk. We had the coffee and a cake and it was nice. Plenty of parking onsite and the washroom facilities are clean”
“TODAY AT 2PM. I HAD CHICKEN KAVERMA, Which is Wonderfully spice, 1 ONIONS & PEPPERS, LB, MUSHROOMS & DICED CHICKEN, SALAD ONIONS & CHIPS, Medium Spices, , Chilli, GARLIC, & GARA MASALA, Spices. FAB FOODS £12 Love LOCAL, FOODS.”
“Love this cafe - it has a nice upstairs area with more seating (including some comfy chairs and sofas). I have had sandwiches and oatcakes here in the past and both have been good. Tea is always really nice here - they have a loose leaf tea which is very good. The cakes are excellent too, definitely recommend. The only improvement I would make is to speed up the food service a little (not too much, doesn't need to be super fast), but the food service is very slow so you can't go there if you're in a hurry!”
“Not sure if this pub is still open but went in last year and the decor is amazing. Very old school. The beers are local as are the people inside. Very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.”
“A beautiful little Place right in the heart of Leek. Easy booking and check in process. We was given codes for entry/access to our accommodation when tea rooms are closed. Plenty of parking locally, reasonably cheap and free after 15.30 on Saturday and free all day Sunday. We found our room very clean and was provided everything for a lovely stay. Bed was comfortable, towels good quality and complimentary showering miniatures. Only slight issue was the TV signal wasn't great, channels not watchable but not a big issue. Staff were all helpful and welcoming in the cosy tea room. We ordered breakfast which was very nice and was pleasantly surprised when told it was in with the cost of the room as we was unaware, nice bonus. Overall we had a lovely pleasant stay and will definitely return. We have since found out they have dog friendly rooms so will be back with our little one.”
“Visited here for a spa day to celebrate my birthday. The spa is very small so we only booked for a 4 hour session, worrying we might get bored. However, the time absolutely flew by and we wished we had longer! We had the mill wheel back massage, which was excellent. We also booked in for afternoon tea, which was delicious and very generous portions. Would definitely recommend.”
“Amazing food and friendly service, not badly priced but the atmosphere could be improved slightly. It's very well decorated and has a nice vibe but the lighting is really bright, it could feel a lot cosier if it was a little softer with the lights. A great place to eat though.”
“I only ordered the Nutcracker Latte but gosh it was LOVELY. Its lovely and cosy inside. I didn't wait long to get my coffee. The staff were lovely and chatty. This may become a weekly visit!”
“Had the bacon butty (nofat™). 10/10. The Wi-Fi is good enough to facilitate a call to Taiwan. Eventually decided to have myself an Americano to go. It was my first of its kind, and probably my last. Good times.”
“Excellent sausage barm and carrot cake. Great tea and coffee. All at reasonable prices. Clean cafe. Lots of outside and undercover seating on Platform 2 with views of the trains. Pleasant, polite and helpful staff. Car park and a fairly short walk from the lake. Don't miss out on riding on the narrow gauge trains. Recommended!”
“Lovely little cafe - if you can catch it when it's open.”
“Lovely breakfast, cakes to die for, in a lovely cozy cafè with friendly staff who can’t do enough to please.”
“Great place to eat or drink. The Students who were working there were really friendly and helpful.”
“Great place to shop , good fresh vegetables and fruit.”
“Very expensive shopping but cafe was ok nice drink”
“Our favourite café, stop for lunch if ever we're in Leek. Lovely food, great coffee and a great range of cakes. Staff are polite and friendly, would highly recommend.”
“Absolutely beautiful amazing place, amazing staff and delicious food! Recent incident handled amazingly by staff and can’t believe the slating they are getting for protecting there small business. Everything is hard enough with cost at the moment so things like this make me feel really disheartened.”
“The passion of the host was perfect and we loved the conversation and the time she made just to talk to us. Everything was picture perfect. We thought the rooms were a bit expensive, but considering everything it was worth it. The views were stunning.”
“Visited for brunch on 3rd March. We regularly visit this restaurant. There is always a warm, inviting atmosphere that practically guarantees a good experience. The food is fantastic. It is usually necessary to pre-book. The chef, Billy is very good humoured and welcoming. Service is great and wait time is low. Highly recommend.”
“Went today with my boss the breakfast sandwiches were huge great price .never had an oatcake before (brummies) so the owner treated us to one on the house owner was really pleasant and if your passing you cant go wrong food is good and priced well”
“The best coffee that I honestly ever have! Perfect temp, taste and service! Thank you!!”
“The crisps were wonderful. But the service and atmosphere are infinitely better. There is something extra about 'The Union', or BENKS, as it was always known as to the discerning drinkers of Leek and beyond. Yes. I am old enough to remember those halcyon days! With the jukebox in the red room playing all things rock, from Alice Cooper to Zeppelin (of the Led variety) and on to Dean Martin singing 'Little Old Wine Drinking Me' - a classic singalong end to each and every glorious night in Benks! Join us now for a seriously well kept pint of ale, a game of darts, an 8 ball in the top pocket or just a friendly chat, whilst listening to live music.”
“Popped in for a quick drink with a friend. Lovely place, very cozy! Sadly didn't eat there, but looking forward to returning when I'm next in the area.”
“Lovely dining experience. Great food and surprised by the large portion size of the roast dinner. Attentive staff. Would highly recommend and will be returning”
“Working in the area needed to use the facilities so I stopped by, staff were super friendly, didn’t expect it to be so warm of an environment and the food looked lovely as I walked through, will definitely be stopping off to eat here when I’m off the clock one weekend”
“Went in to meet a friend for tea and a chat. Good parking and access. Greeted warmly as soon as I got in the door by friendly and welcoming staff. Good service, great food and cakes. Will certainly go again!”
“had mother’s day afternoon tea. it was divine and my very picky mum loved it. as a professional pastry chef and self proclaimed baker herself she was very impressed with the quality of food given. arrived early due to unexpected lack of traffic heading north but was sat immediately, staff are lovely and their cocktail menu is excellent. couldn’t recommend this place more, especially considering prices are more than reasonable and portions are mega with opportunities for take-home boxes for unfinished food.”
