“Just had the most amazing cream tea here. Absolute gorgeous. Staff are lovely so friendly. First time there will not be the last.”
“Northernirelandholidays visited Joxer in Bangor today for a spot of brunch. We had to wait a short while for a table even though there were free tables available. Once seated we were given our menus which have a great selection to choose from and different from the usual burgers and goujons. We went for po boy and the crab, prawns, and bread were perfect. It came with fries which were also very good. What sets the restaurant apart in that there was a bottle of water on the table, there were nice glasses, the cutlery was good and there was salt and pepper, not the sachets you get in other establishments, but a proper salt and pepper grinder. Overall an excellent experience and we will be going back to try the other dishes. There are also tray bakes available at the counter.”
“Absolutely Smokin good food!! Portions were very generous. We shared a starter but still couldn’t finish our mains. Definitely value for money. The cocktails were tasty. The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive.”
“Have been coming here regularly for years with my parents since back when it was Papa Joe's. The food is beautiful, they have loads of gluten free options, and I don't think the prices are bad for what you get. I think 9 times out of 10 the service is fantastic, there's the odd time you might be waiting a while for your bill and you have to flag down a member of staff as they pass by. If you're gluten free I highly recommend the Korean BBQ chicken wings and the chicken Tenby!”
“Had lunch here on 02/09/2025. Marvellous variety on the starters/lightbites menu - loads of unusual dishes, so we were spoiled for choice. Chose beef nachos and the crab claws in an Asian sauce with a cheese and onion bap. Everything was delicious, well presented and great portions. The sauce with the crab was so tasty, I used my teaspoon to eat it like a soup. Excellent altogether.”
“Very good menu with plenty of things for vegetarians. I ordered the Parma pizza (£5.95!!) Which was HUGE and came with tomato sauce, cheese, Parma ham, rocket, balsamic vinegar reduction and parmesan. It was really tasty and had a nice thin base with a chewy and crispy crust. Even the kids menu pizza was nearly as big!! Really good value for money with really nice calm decor. Would 100% recommend!”
“Great coffee, mini fry was excellent with really nice bacon will be back for sure A++”
“A very small coffe shop with a great selction of delicious cakes and scones. Seating may be limited inside but on a good day grab a seat outside if you can and watch high street go by.”
“An absolute gem in this rallying harbour town. We enjoyed breakfast and teatime treats in the cafe/deli next door. Our brunch choices and coffee drinks set us a up for the day and we strongly recommend!”
“Love this place so much, food always tasty, service excellent”
“We had dinner here and the food and service was so good we decided to return again for Sunday lunch. My friend had the surf and turf and I had the rack of lamb. Absolutely delicious and as you are allowed to bring your own wine we came prepared!.”
“We absolutely loved our recent dining experience here. The overall menu variation is fantastic, making it easy to find something for everyone, and the pricing offers exceptional value for the caliber of food. The real highlight, however, was the local venison Wellington. It was rich, incredibly tender, and perfectly prepared—easily the best Wellington I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this spot!”
“Went for Sunday dinner with my father, the menu covered all bases, had the set 3 course menu, and was reasonably priced. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Enjoyed immensely, will bring him again as he found it easy to manoeuvre his wheel chair and found the atmosphere relaxed.”
“Food was amazing, gourmet burger was delicious. Black forest gateau and the mochas are great too. Lovely staff, very helpful and a nice space to dine in.”
“I stopped by here for lunch a couple of months back and couldn't believe how good the food was. So much so that I talked my family into getting the family platter and has now become a regular thing. Have tried pretty much everything off the menu and haven't been disappointed. If I have any negatives it would be, on one occasion I think they ran out of chicken and I had a 40 min wait on more being cooked(I assume it's oven cooked then grilled) but it was resolved well and I would have waited anyway. Staff are great, friendly and willing to help. The selection of sauces set out for people to try is a great idea for people who've never been before. Hands down the best place for a cheat day!”
“Third time at The Galley and it hasn't disappointed once. Incredible dishes at reasonable prices, coupled with first class, friendly service. Amazing duck confit ragu and a perfectly cooked rare ribeye steak have been the highlights. Have no idea how this place isn't the most popular restaurant in Bangor.”
“First time I’d been here and not disappointed. It was a group dinner, 50 or so of us, and everything was delivered swiftly, all the mains were hot, all the puddings hot or cold as they should be, and everything looking as fresh as though it was the only meal they’d prepared. It was all delicious and very well cooked and presented. The atmosphere was beautifully calm for such a large area and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Although we were in a big group I felt as personally cared for and valued by the staff as though I was the only person there, and others in the group agree. Highly recommended, and a big thank you to all the lovely staff.”
“Popped in for the first time yesterday. Will definitely be back! Had the large fry (was able to exchange the things I didn’t like) and the food was excellent! Far better than many ‘restaurants’ that charge extortionate prices for the same quality of food. Lovely service. Will definitely return!”
“Enjoyed another wonderful meal at Vespers. Shay the Restaurant Manager greeted us and showed us to our favourite table. The menu contained some familiar elements and some new dishes we hadn’t tried before. For starters I had scallop chowder but not a traditional one. The chef had elevated it to a sophisticated dish with perfectly cooked scallops in a delicate bisque-like sauce with peas and herb oil accompanied by a home made brioche roll. My husband had the langoustini raviolo. Very tasty also. We both thoroughly enjoyed the fish of the day dish - beautifully cooked hake with cauliflower purée and florets and little pieces of kale. The sides of carrots, broccoli and triple cooked chips were perfect with it. My husband had the light, tasty peach dessert while I went for the cheeses. Homemade crackers, apple chutney and whisky soaked raisins were such a great accompaniment. We really enjoyed our meal and attentive service from the two knowledgeable waitresses. For the quality of food the price was very reasonable. Portion sizes were perfect for us. We will definitely be back. Thank you Shay and team.”
