“Amazing food! I had the scallops, then duck, and then the chocolate ganache to finish - all dishes were very delicious and cooked well. The cheese board also has a great selection of cheeses, and they give you a mountain of crackers. The staff were also lovely and attentive. Will definitely be recommending this restaurant to everyone!”

“Really lovely little cafe. We found this place online and loved the look and the vibe. We arrived around 10am and were seated pretty much straight away. Don’t be fooled if it looks full from the front, they do have a few tables hidden around the back. The service was really quick and friendly and the food tasted very good. We had the French toast with bacon and maple syrup along with an order of poached eggs on toast with a side of avocado. The food was served fast but we didn’t feel rushed to eat and leave even once finished we were left to chat until we were ready to go. Overall I’d say this was a great place to stop for brunch.”

“One of the most charming pubs in Bath. Their signature pies are top notch every single time, but so are their sausages and all the other wonderful things they pile onto your plate! Their gravy flavours compliment the pies ans sausages so well. They also sale local ales and ciders. Staff are friendly and talkative. Unfortunately you can't book but this place is so worth the visit because the food and atmosphere are fantastic!”

“Our usual Indian has gone downhill so we ventured out and came across Bikanos, always daunting trying a new takeaway but this place was fantastic we ordered a takeaway and collected it, very friendly welcome offered a drink on arrival as I was early to collect food was ready on time and one of the best tasting Indian dishes we’ve had in ages! Will definitely be coming back again!”

“Chanced upon this place tonight, wasn't very busy but the menu looked very tasty. So pleased we went in. Superb food, just that bit different. Lovely fresh tasting rose. Excellent service: very knowledgeable and friendly service. Encountered some very pleasant fellow diners who also enjoyed their food and wine. A very pleasant evening!”

“What a gem this place is. We booked a table for our honeymoon and were treated like royalty. A front window table, and top notch service. Being Gluten Intolerant my menu had been marked specifically for my needs, and was given the utmost care and thoughtfulness. The olives to start were plump, garlicky and smokey. The food when it arrived was amazing. The ocean bream was crisp, and the samphire and saffron sauce just delicious. We literally mopped up our plates. The steak was tender, the the panne cotta and chocolate torte with poached plum just absolutely delicious. Amarelle who served us was sweet, knowledgeable, and attentive. What a lovely restaurant - a must visit.”

“There are lots of good walks near Hinton Charterhouse. I would recommend that, like us, you make the Stag your pit-stop of choice. The welcome is always warm and the food is really excellent. My friend had a Cajun Chicken and prawn special, which he said was delicious. Because I know how good it is, I went for ‘Old faithful’ - ham, 2 eggs and chips. It was to-die-for, as always. Home cooked ham packed with flavour, tender as you like, thick carved and plentiful; oh, and runny eggs! It’s a sensational lunch. It won’t be long before we find ourselves back here, I’m sure. UPDATE - We just visited for a Sunday roast. I can honestly say it’s probably the best pub roast I’ve ever had. You certainly won’t leave hungry. Highly recommended!”

“Absolutely superb all round. The pub is full of character and warmth, with a beautiful garden and amazing countryside views. The menu is simple, refined, and consistently excellent. And Felix was outstanding. Friendly, professional and attentive without being intrusive … truly memorable service in a wonderful setting.”

“What a great old worldly pub. A few small rooms all with wood panelling and glass partitions. Old type fireplaces. Wooden floors throughout. Tap beers and real ales available. It's really like going back in time, brilliant. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Old type bench seats. Beer was good. Great visit.”

“Had an amazing breakfast bagel here ,it was delicious and possibly the best I've ever had. Generous size and really filling. Highly recommend the short walk from centre . Flat white was also delicious and I'm fussy with my coffee .”

“If you ever wanted to explore bath and have a great room and an incredible breakfast, this is your place. We walked to town, which is about a mile away, although you can get a cab if you want. There's so much to explore the Roman baths and a real life Roman bath set up called "THERMAE" for you to have all the amenities that the Romans would've enjoyed.”

“I'm shocked that I've not reviewed the ring of bells. After moving fairly locally, we were recommended to try their food. From the first visit we were made to feel like family, and have been regulars ever since. The food is outstanding: a surprising mix of traditional British and Asian. The menu regularly is changing and never short of something interesting and delicious. We have two young kids who are usually relatively well behaved when eating out, but definitely have their moments. The team always make us feel welcome and know how to engage little ones. We love finishing a satisfying meal with a couple of games of skittles. I don't think there are many places. I'd rather be on a chilly winter's night than near the blazing fire at the ring of bells. Or a summer's afternoon outside with a cold drink watching village life go by.”

“I booked a private party for my wedding here. They happily accommodated 30 people, and we could have had up to 60. The appetizers they selected for us were all delicious and accommodated diet restrictions as well. Highly recommend for parties, meals, or a quick drink or coffee with some of the friendliest faces around!!”

“Loving the new Galleries cafe revamp in Freshford! Amazing that its now open longer hours and at weekends. Perfect tea stop after a country walk! We had great service from our lovely waitress Lucy, a scrummy selection of salads, quiches, sandwiches and delicious cakes, and great coffee too, all in the most beautiful location. Idyllic!”

“My favourite stop between Bristol and Bath. Absolutely beautiful and a lovely attraction to add to your journey. Cheap prices and a fantastic range of different meals I am stunned at what they can provide! A wonderful place to stop if you're cycling past on the Bristol / Bath Cycle Path. There is also a fantastic charity called wheelers that runs next to the waiting rooms that helps people with accessibility needs enjoy the wonders of cycling, I would highly recommend!”

“The way food should be!! Just such an amazing lunch on our second and equally amazing visit. The menu was varied and interesting and really shows what plant based cuisine can be. We recently had the immense pleasure of celebrating our wedding at The Crown at Kelston, and we can genuinely say it was the most perfect day imaginable, largely thanks to the incredible team there. From our very first contact, we dealt with Neve, who was absolutely brilliant. Neve made the planning process seamless and stress-free. In the lead-up to the wedding, everything ran so smoothly that we genuinely didn't have to think about a single thing on the day itself – a true gift for any couple! Neve even coordinated directly with our florist, two musicians, the stretch tent company, and our cake supplier on the morning of the wedding, ensuring all suppliers were perfectly in sync without us lifting a finger. Whatever our request, big or small, nothing was ever an issue for Neve and the team. They were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond. On the day of the wedding, the staff worked effortlessly from start to finish. Their attentiveness, efficiency, and friendly demeanour were remarkable, ensuring all our guests were well looked after and the celebration flowed beautifully. And we must mention, the food was absolutely amazing – a real highlight that all our guests raved about! The atmosphere was exactly what we dreamed of, and every detail was handled with precision and care. We cannot recommend The Crown highly enough for any event, especially a wedding. “The service was great! Had lovely conversation with the chef who is from Barcelona, and the service staff who is also Spanish! We ordered the steak paella and it was delightful! Full of flavours of the beef and various spices that unfold as you bite into the rice! The rice was nice and crisp and flavourful till the last bite! You can tell that the chef loves to cook and he checked in on us a lot! The croquette was really crispy and rich. The octopus was a nice complexity of flavour. From the sweetness of the octopus, to the punch of garlic sauce and the earthiness of the mash! A great combination altogether! The atmosphere was really nice! Fit for a cosy intimate wedding”
