“Wonderful little community centre, good access for wheelchairs and push chairs, has private rooms and being a community centre it is available for hire at very competitive rates. They run after school classes during the week, for Islamic studies.”
“Our wedding at Confessions was perfect for us. Hannah and her staff are amazing before during and after. Beautiful historic venue with character and charm. Their was nothing to much trouble from booking to after my wedding day. It was perfect. Thankyou to the Hannah and the confessions team for making our day perfect. Highly recommended if ya want a perferct wedding day”
“What a great place! The house was finished in 1765 which was intended for grand entertaining and used to display superb paintings, sculptures and furniture. Kedleston celebrates one 18th century landowners fascination with classical Rome and this can be seen and witnessed throughout the entire house”
“Attended for a Wedding. Super layout. Staff so friendly. Meal was excellent.”
“This venue is superb. My wife arranged a surprise party for me and the owner and staff could not have been any better in helping her arrange this. Highly recommend this venue for all your occasion. Food was amazing and the staff on the night were great.”
“The Flowerpot is one of Derby’s gems. Fantastic live music in an intimate setting, with great sound and atmosphere every single night. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the service is always quick despite how busy it gets. A brilliant range of beers on tap, plus good value for money. The crowd is lively but respectful, creating a great vibe whether you’re here for a gig or just a pint. Consistently an excellent night out – easily one of the best venues in Derby. I really hope they’ll consider creating more opportunities for private functions here as I can think of no better place to host a special occasion.”
“There is a LONG drive to the entrance. Be sure that your GPS takes you to the correct one. Calke Abbey is maintained a bit differently from other National Trust Properties. The Trust chose not to try to bring it back to its original glory, but rather, to leave it in the condition in which it was received, which includes wings of rooms in disrepair. Tour is self guided but volunteers are frequent to offer explanations or answer questions. One of the unique holdings is a state bed made for King George I in 1715. The bed linens were found by the Trust rolled up in the basement. Since they were in perfect condition, the bed is set up as it would have been and preserved behind glass. Another was the caricature room whose walls were covered with humor satirical pictures. I found it to be quite entertaining. The dining room featured some outstanding decor, simply presented. The main entertaining room was filled with glass cabinets loaded with taxidermy. Not my favorite but that is how the family had left it to the Trust. One particular wing has rooms that are in complete disrepair with the ceilings falling, wall paper peeling, and loads of broken furniture haphazardly tossed in the room. Not at all what one would expect while walking through a National Trust Site. Calke Abbey is perfect example of a country estate that was barely held together in the 20th century. Many similar country houses did not survive to tell their story. We are National Trust members (via Royal Oak), so I cannot attest to the cost of entry. Parking lot was within easy walk of the entrance. No reservations were needed.”
“Great day out at Burton Albion. It was well worth a visit. A fun fan zone, good beer and food, god atmosphere”
“Very nice park for both couples and families with plenty of activities like massive zip line, padelo boats, slides, a big paddling, poolcanoeing for kids and more. There's a Cafe for a quick drink or bite with plenty of seatings outside plus picnic tables all over the area.”
“Great place with great coffee. Really enjoyed a nice breakfast cob and slice of cake.very nice modern setting with plenty of space and little play area outside for the kids. Staff are warm , friendly and polite and really make you feel welcome. If you like a slither of cake be warned these are great cakes but you got to be quick , they are popular. For a place in its infancy they have made an amazing start and living close I am eager to see this great little spot grow from strength to strength. Highly recommend this place for sure.”
“Very clean bright. It is a good size for all sorts of meetings and events. Facilities available are very good.”
“Really nice and quiet. The local parish council even got around to installing access gates in adequate places. It's clean, all amenities work, it's fun and great for... well, nearly all ages.”
“Brilliant party, very good value for money. We love the photobooth and I like how things like cake knives and lighters are provided as this is often something people forget. We already have another party booked here and can't wait! Unfortunately I can't provide photos as they all have children in.”
“Good dance studios. Has an excellent adult tap class on a Wednesday night. Taken on by Derby Live there are classes back on.”
“We chose Stretton day nursery based on recommendations from other parents in the village, and it’s easy to say that all of our expectations have been surpassed. All of the nursery staff are so friendly and go above and beyond, they take so much pride in what they do. This nursery truly has a family feel, and the garden facilities are phenomenal, it really is a home from home for little ones!”
“This is the second time we have booked this venue and it’s fantastic. Highly recommend it. It’s a nice size for a cosy event. The facilities are good. Plenty of parking near by. The organisers are friendly and keen to help. This is now our go to venue for events. Plus the money goes to a charity which is an added bonus.”
“Perfect spacious place for Friday Yoga class and Tuesday's Clubbercise is great since the air-conditioning has been installed.”
“We come regularly for music and messy play. Emma has always been very welcoming and easy to talk to, there are a variety of toys for the children to play with in the role play area whilst we wait for other parents and carers to arrive and my son loves it. The messy play varies and Emma takes on board what the children enjoy and what they don't for her future sessions, we know in advance what the messy play will be so we can plan the children's clothes in advance and I personally love that.”
“Ideal for a party or get together, perfect having so much outdoor space. Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need”
“Clean enough glasses, jugs etc for a celebration of life. Good parking , in fact perfect.”
“A great community arts centre, which offers something for everyone. Concerts, drama productions, comedy, various classes and exhibitions, there is always something going on. There is a bar and food is sometimes available ( check availability). The Brewhouse is wheelchair accessible and has disabled parking nearby.”
“Fantastic place to visit.. so much history.. my 7 year old daughter loved it. Stunning vistas of the surrounding counties.. well worth a visit. Would love to go back when they have a historic event on too!”
“Good place for a choir practice Easy to find and plenty of free parking.”
“My wife and I recently hired the entire Jangala venue in Hilton to host our baby son's 1st birthday party. We had about 70 guests in total. The event was a huge success! The staff were fantastic and very helpful, both in the run up to the event and on the day. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The food for the children was appealing and delicious. We also ordered sandwich and samosa platters for our adult guests, and these were well-presented and went down a treat. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed playing and partying at Jangala, and we would thoroughly recommend this superb venue for people to looking to celebrate special occasions.”
“Attended a wine and cheese tasting event at Amalfi White - what a fantastic experience! The lovely Emma hosted us and her knowledge of wines and the process of wine production was so interesting- we also tried (and were converted to) some wines we had never thought of or heard of! There was also a fantastic selection of delicious meats and cheeses (always pleases!) I’d definitely recommend it for future events. Thanks Emma”
