“Absolutely love cassandra's. Old fashioned, proper food and service. It is quiet, but not so quiet that you feel the need to be quiet yourself. My ONLY critique, is i wish it was a slightly larger venue as, due to its quality, it seems to be quite full. Lovely friendly staff, cant recommend this place enough.”
“Fantastic pub, with an amazing Sunday lunch offering! We called in whilst in the area, great service and a good selection available from the menu. £10.95 for a large Sunday dinner (a range of meats available as well).”
“Just what the pub needed. Simple but tasty. Highly recommend the salt & chilli chips. 10 out of 10. Also the the newly added Cruzcampo pint goes down like a dream!”

“This is my favourite town centre boozer. There have been some changes here since local stalwart and all-round top bloke Matty died, but the place is as good as ever from a food and ale point of view. Staff are always fab and there's a good craic with everyone behind the bar. The food is consistently good and I've never had any complaints whenever I have ate here. There is a lot of demand so things run out relatively quickly - a aign of a good place! It is also reliably one of the best pints of Guinness in the town. They even have the new fangled booze like Cruzcampo, and have a huge selection of spirits, especially whiskeys and gins. Live music every Thursday and Friday. You honestly can't go wrong here.”
“Had a lovely time with my partner and my son such great staff welcoming and friendly and helpful food was fantastic will definitely be coming again”
“Emma was the absolute best host we could have asked for, attentive, charismatic and hilarious from the get go, absolutely would dine here again!!”
“Lovely pizzas which are very reasonably priced and just the right size to fill you up. Really nice looking place with fantastic background music making a nice chilled vibe. Definitely recommended.”
“Smile as you watch some of the locals making the most of a friendly easy going pub no hairs or graces but a warm welcoming atmosphere dont think your on your own for long as all say hello but dont worry they mean well”
“Bar staff very accommodating and friendly, great place for get togethers and a few games of pool with friends. Bold Miners FC is the local community grassroots club based here and they have a number of age groups leading up to a brand new open age team. All in all it’s a great place with a real community feel to it.”
“Visited earlier food was amazing even the way it was presented staff were fab with the children too xx”
“Had some great bacon on toast and black pudding on toast from here, the pies are absolutely amazing. Go for the large one's remember how proper meat and potatoes pies used to be ? Absolutely gorgeous, great staff always happy and pleasant.”
“A most wonderful establishment frequented by some of St Helens elite. Serving only the finest ales and spirits. Close to local amenities such as "chip on't block" and the popular bookmakers betfred. I highly recommend the vast array of savoury sundries avalaible to accompany your refreshing beverage.”
“Delicious food, great choice of drinks, great atmosphere, lovely staff. Great choices on menu from breakfast to tea time and Sunday lunch! Will definitely be visiting again ☺️.”
“I really enjoyed The George when I went in there. It's a very old styled pub, like going back in time, I don't think it has been renovated too much over the years. The drinks were quite cheap compared to others, there was a lot of St Helens memorabilia on the walls, the locals were quite friendly, there is a jukebox as well which plays nearly anything and the locals don't complain what style of music it is. I would recommend going here.”
“I have ordered from Sabroso many times over the years and the food just gets better & better. I usually have it delivered in St Helens but we had it delivered to Wigan tonight and the food was still excellent and piping hot! The chicken tinga burrito was large and worth the price, the salad on the tacos was very fresh and I liked how the chicken for the taco was in its own pot so less mess. I queried through the instagram page and the customer service was excellent, highly recommended!”
“Great store lots to offer apart from food clothing there is a good cafe great prices, toilets. Always has good offers on. Get paper flowers and do your lottery. Easy access and has a garage if your car needs petrol air or a wash... pick up/drop off point for parcels too.”
“Had a lovely time on a Wednesday after noon with the family .can be busy”
“Nice warm and friendly service. Burgers very nice.”
“Visited The Millhouse for a family meal, we wasn’t disappointed, excellent service from all the staff from the moment we walked in, the food was lovely and we will definitely be back for another visit. Was talking to staff at the bar who turned out to be the new owners Alicia and Danny, they are creating a lovely welcoming atmosphere in the pub along with their staff.”
“Had a lovely visit to Toby Carvery on Friday the 12th. The food was great as always, but the service really stood out. Alfie, Gav and Kelsey were all brilliant — friendly, attentive and made sure everything was just right throughout our visit. They created such a welcoming atmosphere and really added to the experience. Big thanks to them all for making it an enjoyable meal. We’ll definitely be back!”
“I've been going here so long (about 12 years), that I rarely have to say what I want. The staff just nod and say "Donner naan?" I have branched out lately though, and now rotate between the naan, a donner pizza, and the Kobedha naan. I can't recommend any of them highly enough. I've tried other places, but they pale in comparison.”
“One of the best bars in town all staff are friendly great atmosphere and music choice and drinks are relatively priced aswell as having a large selection of spirits. Definitely recommend a visit!”
“This pub may sometimes get missed/misjudged by people not familiar with it. Security, bar staff, entertainers - all helpful and welcoming. It caters for a mixed clientele' young to old, guaranteed an enjoyable evening and with what I consider the best pint of Fosters in town.”
“Nice friendy pub good service very nice staff”
“This is a hidden gem. I play there as a DJ, and it is a lovely little pub with even lovelier guests and staff. The team led by John are kind and highly efficient. It's one of my favourite venues. The atmosphere here is like sitting in front of a blazing wood fire; warm and inviting. Highly recommended.”
“amazing brand, lovely coffee, love the tiktok side of the business aswell thats my favourite”
“very good costa great drinks and well staffed well worth visiting”
“A small little cafe, east missed on the side street. Great place would certainly recommend. well cooked breakfasts and large selection of main meals including Scouse + Chilli Con Carne. Food available to eat in or take away as some seating indoors or just outside. No parking as in centre of town. Clean tidy workspace and happy friendly staff.”
“Lovely coffee and delicious blueberry flapjack! Brilliant cafe, look forward to going back”
