“A little sceptical about it as it does seem like it's a ale house that just attracts drinkers. However I was pleasantly surprised. Its definitely isn't high class but its friendly. I would definitely go again”
“Great proper pub, welcoming locals highly recommend”
“A nice pint at a decent price. Seating outside that catches the sun.”
“It is a crafty place were other fellow citizens can have fun at, Make sure your child is supervised incase your child 'Eats' the paint, This place is a really good place to have quality time with your child. If anyone conciders this, Then make sure your child is age 4 or over.”

“Been twice this week, food was amazing and it was Father’s Day yesterday and never felt rushed, staff are lovely and food was amazing again, thank you all for your hard work. Edit - lovely staff and also a lovely manager/owner”
“Traveled with family for a short visit (4 days) to St Helens and the surrounding area. Had a wonderful stay. Was greeted by friendly staff (Paige and Jacob) who were very helpful and informative as I had a lot of questions. I unfortunately fell sick, however the staff at the inn were friendly and accommodating. Went the extra mile to help me into town to get to the pharmacy (thank you Jacob). We had a total of 5 meals here (as I couldn't be asked to take a trip out) and they were all delicious. We were lucky enough to be here during a menu change so we had a lot of variety. Would recommend.”
“Went for tea with the Husband my dad and mother in law on Saturday night. As soon as we went in we where greeted and then shown to our table the staff gave us a menu to look over and came back shortly after for our drinks order, the staff where very polite and content. The waitress came back for our food order and shortly afterward our food was served piping hot and delicious. We had main course and dessert they where both spot on, our server / waitress was Gemma and she couldn’t do enough for us , I’m fussy and pre fare a jacket over chips she said she would sort it. And she did . Thank you to Gemma and the rest of the staff for such a pleasant time , I am sure we will be back.”
“Great place bar staff brilliant what more can you ask for also Great entertainment.”
“Nice neighborhood Pub with a large outdoor seating area. Really good beer selection including some cask ales to choose from. Outside was packed so found a nice seat inside by the bar and enjoyed the music at a Saturday night volume and a decent mix playing. Service was fast and friendly but as a note they do not accept cash only cards .”
“Boss atmosphere. Amazing staff. Friendly customers. Best boozer in town.”

“Great meal, wonderful service - only downside was the minimal portion of vegetables - Special shout out to Nigel who promised us an extra portion of vegetables next time we visit!”
“I come in tonight with my son and puppy, service was great! Very clean and welcoming, was served by faye, she was very happy and chatty which is what you want when walking into a public house, I’ll definitely return as I felt welcomed by the staff! I’ll give 5 stars to Faye for making our experience that bit better, we will definitely be returning!”

“Back again at the starting gate for a pint, after leaving St helens for Holland in 1974, 51 years have gone by, and it feels like yesterday.”
“Fantastic pub, with an amazing Sunday lunch offering! We called in whilst in the area, great service and a good selection available from the menu. £10.95 for a large Sunday dinner (a range of meats available as well).”

“This is my favourite town centre boozer. There have been some changes here since local stalwart and all-round top bloke Matty died, but the place is as good as ever from a food and ale point of view. Staff are always fab and there's a good craic with everyone behind the bar. The food is consistently good and I've never had any complaints whenever I have ate here. There is a lot of demand so things run out relatively quickly - a aign of a good place! It is also reliably one of the best pints of Guinness in the town. They even have the new fangled booze like Cruzcampo, and have a huge selection of spirits, especially whiskeys and gins. Live music every Thursday and Friday. You honestly can't go wrong here.”
“Had a lovely time with my partner and my son such great staff welcoming and friendly and helpful food was fantastic will definitely be coming again”
“Great shop, staff are all friendly and full of fun. Rick and Dave are great fellas and will get you anything you need if you ask on advance. Opening times are pretty much constant, even over Christmas. Great place.”
“Smile as you watch some of the locals making the most of a friendly easy going pub no hairs or graces but a warm welcoming atmosphere dont think your on your own for long as all say hello but dont worry they mean well”
“Bar staff very accommodating and friendly, great place for get togethers and a few games of pool with friends. Bold Miners FC is the local community grassroots club based here and they have a number of age groups leading up to a brand new open age team. All in all it’s a great place with a real community feel to it.”
“Visited earlier food was amazing even the way it was presented staff were fab with the children too xx”
“A most wonderful establishment frequented by some of St Helens elite. Serving only the finest ales and spirits. Close to local amenities such as "chip on't block" and the popular bookmakers betfred. I highly recommend the vast array of savoury sundries avalaible to accompany your refreshing beverage.”
“Delicious food, great choice of drinks, great atmosphere, lovely staff. Great choices on menu from breakfast to tea time and Sunday lunch! Will definitely be visiting again ☺️.”
