“Hidden gem! Every dish from Yida was beautifully prepared and fresh. High quality sushi, sashimi and cooked dishes like tempura and agedashi tofu to name a few. There's a cute outdoor area which is nice to get some air in summer. Service is delightful and for Japanese cuisine which requires sushi grade fish and seafood, prices are very reasonable. Photos don't really do the food justice and because we were too busy tucking in, key dishes have not been captured...”

“We came here on a Saturday evening with an offer. The service and ambience was great. We got the grilled platter which was fantastic- the chicken and lamb stood out to us the most. We also got the aloo chaat which was lovely. For mains we got the chicken biryani which had large pieces of chicken within it. We also got the railway lamb curry which was seasoned fantastically. Poppadums and chutney also great. Overall a great experience and the mocktails are great. Our total bill was £50 which is reasonable”

“I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Everything was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. The restaurant itself was very clean, including the toilets, which shows great attention to detail and hygiene. The staff provided excellent service — friendly, attentive, and professional. Even the manager Saman came by to check on our table many times and make sure everything was perfect. It’s clear they truly care about their customers. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and great service!”

“Great place! From the photos we were impressed by the selection of food that they offer and they didn’t disappoint. We did order the fried chicken burger which they did forget to deliver. However the lovely lady gave such good service and apologized for the inconvenience with a couple of free fruit punches. Our favourite item was the mac and cheese. UGH. Would definitely recommend. And the chicken burger too. UGH. The chicken was both tender and crispy. Overall the food was good and service was even better. Will be ordering again :)”

“Hanako Brings Japan to Watford When I was looking for authentic Japanese food nearby, a few restaurants came up. But Hanako immediately caught my attention. Just from the Google review photos of their sushi and sashimi, I could see the craftsmanship. The presentation looked simple and neat, not overly decorated, but refined in a way that reminded me of true Japanese style. My Japanese friend and I were so excited that we arrived before the restaurant opened. The owner kindly let us in early, which was already such a warm welcome. Inside, the atmosphere was cozy and felt just like a small restaurant in Japan. The menu was easy to understand with clear English, and allergy information was clearly shown. On top of that, the owner kindly explained some of the dishes to us as well. I ordered the nabe udon and a sashimi sushi set. My friend had the shoyu ramen. The portion sizes were quite big for us, but because everything tasted so good, we finished it all. The flavors were very authentic but also easy to enjoy for people who may not be familiar with Japanese food. If I had to describe it in Japanese, I would say it has a 優しい味, meaning a gentle and comforting taste. We had a lovely chat with the owner. She told us that the tuna sashimi is 本マグロ, which is bluefin tuna imported from Japan. That truly impressed us, and you could taste the quality. Everything felt so fresh and nourishing. What surprised me even more is that Hanako has been open for 23 years. That’s nearly the same age as me. It made me think about how Japanese food wasn’t very common in the UK back then. I can only imagine how much this restaurant has gone through over the years to continue sharing this kind of food with the community. I wrote this review to share my appreciation for the food and people at Hanako. If you’re reading the menu outside and not sure whether to go in, I really recommend you try it. This place is a hidden gem.”

“I really liked the atmosphere, it reminded me a lot of Italy. The food is excellent, the dishes are beautiful, the wine is very good. The prices vary, but overall it is not expensive. The atmosphere is not very large, so if there are a lot of people it is a good idea to make a reservation, especially on the weekend. But I will come back if possible. It is not wheelchair accessible, there is a small staircase at the entrance.”

“We had our Christmas Dinner at Masons this year and it was perfect. The food, drink and service was spot on. The pianist set a great atmosphere in the well decorated and newly renovated restaurant. Even though it was busy there was never a point we were left waiting. Great experience and will be returning for non festive meals.”

“You can see the people disembarking at Totteridge and whetstone while theyre still on the tube, as they're on their phones pondering the Tiffin Tin menu and placing orders ready for collection. All of the dishes I've tried are delicious. I've particularly enjoyed the tandoori salmon and aubergine paloong. Even the mint sauce and raita are unique and delicious. They'll make dishes hotter on request too.”
