“Sue & the team provided a lovely buffet my mum's 70th birthday, plenty of selection. Their service is efficient and will go ubove & beyond to any requests ie dietary, selection, delivery etc. Also followed by calls to check everything is ok etc. Sue takes pride in providing the best customer service. I would certainly recommend. Every guest commented on the quality and variety of the food provided. Thankyou x”

“I had this place in mind for months before deciding to visit here on a date night. We booked a table easily online (via their website) and the pictures there lived up to the real thing. The deco in this place is amazing to create the right atmosphere for any occasion.... Date night, drinks with friends at the weekend or during the week. The staff were very friendly and the food.... THE FOOD! It was delicious! And reasonably priced too!”

“Me and my partner were having a look for somewhere to eat and we came across Buffalo bar and grill. Can I just say wow, the staff were lovely, the food was absolutely gorgeous and came out quickly, hot and fresh. The atmosphere was great, with music, wicked decor and a warm feel. “I went to Coal and Cotton twice within two weeks, first time with husband and sister in law, was atclynch time, so not too noisy, as it was lunch time. The atmosphere was quite but still lovely so you could talk. Went the second week with a friend for tea in the evening, was alot busier but still not too busy, so it was still a lovely atmosphere. The food is always lovely, I just think the main potions don't have to be so large. The only thing I was gutted was I forgot to use my loyalty card, I just think it would be a good idea if a member of staff could ask if you have a loyalty card.”

“I only popped in for a brew whilst I was waiting for my tyres to be done at Halfords. It's was quite, allowed me to get a bit of work done and had a brew. The lady that was there was lovely, really welcoming and checked I was ok frequently, which was sweet.”

“Just discovered this pub and so impressed. Great friendly service from Melissa. Food was very tasty and you could tell everything was fresh. Compliments to Astra in the kitchen! Very generous portions too which delighted hubby. We went for lunch and there were tables available without booking. Very friendly atmosphere and will definitely be recommending friends and family to visit.”

“My friend and I visited John Gilbert on 19th December for lunch. Service was very good (by Casey). Both our meals were very tasty and served lovely and hot. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A nice relaxing ambience. I would definitely recommend this pub both for food and service.”

“Went for a breakfast with the grandchildren, was very happy with the food, toast done to perfection, bacon had a chargrilled taste which I loved. The only let down was I like really runny eggs for my toast and beans. But not a dealbraker. The open fire was a bonus along with quite good coffee, being a breakfast coffee, it didn't give you that kick to wake your brain up, more like a brunch coffee.”

“Walked in expecting a meal, left feeling like I had just been adopted by the staff. The waiter remembered my name, my water preference, and possibly my astrological sign. I sneezed once and a tissue appeared out of thin air. Now, the food? It was okay. But the service, oh my it was exceptional. Faith was new but great 10/10.”

“So enjoyed this our first visit and far exceeded our expectations- easy and free to park by simple registering your vehicle at the console by the bar. Spacious, well lit, beautifully set out with windows offering views of the canal basin ,its boats and nice canal walks in both directions. Friendly and very welcoming staff. Plenty of tables inside and on the terraces outside. Lovely atmosphere and ambiance and includes historic photos of canal and boating life. Dog and child/ family friendly. Usy on our mid lunchtime mid week visitGreat selection on menu and reasonable prices and such delicious food ( great coffee too) Will certainly visit again soon and likely do so regularly from hence. Thanks to all the staff for making our visit a marvellous experience . I'd highly recom end this lovely pub restaurant.”
