“I went to umezushi for my birthday meal with my closest friends. It definitely lived up to all of my expectations! Such a small & cosy place with truly phenomenal food, both in variety and in quality. We feasted on miso, handrolls, sashimi, sushi and desert... and I was blown away with every aspect. The staff were warm and knowledgeable which always helps. Definitely one to try for any sushi aficionados!”

“We went for our Golden Girls xmas meal so just a small group of 4 now and it was lovely. We prebooked a Monday Evening 3 weeks in advance. We have usually only gone in the day time and the place is lovely and the staff are always very nice. They do the best coffee and we wanted tp try it at night as we hear its a different experience. So we decided this year although we are a smaller group now we would go there. It was lovely with all the lights and decor. It had a very nice friendly family, feel to it. I would highly recommend. They serve Nice food and the atmosphere is very welcoming and not intimidating which is what you want. We will continue to go there in the days for the fresh and well presented brunch foods and the best coffee locally but on special occasions they are also definitely good for an evening visit.”

“It's a small cafe so there isn't really an atmosphere. Feels unfair to score low on this though and I imagine there is an atmosphere in the warmer months. Service was great, the food was lovely. The tatseki is amazing. Yummy Yummy yummy”

“I love this place's food It's spot on very tasty and good portion sizes. It can be a bit of a wait sometimes as it is busy and only 1 cook but its well worth the wait. The chef seems to genuinely care about the food and presentation. so if you've got the time to just sit and relax over great Coffee and superb food you will love it”

“My new favorite breakfast spot! The staff here are absolutely amazing, so warm, welcoming, and kind. As someone who’s shy and Muslim, it means a lot to feel genuinely comfortable in a new place. They go out of their way to make sure I’m looked after, and they even adjust the food to fit my needs without me having to ask twice. It honestly feels like home. What touched me the most? They remembered my last order. That small gesture made me feel seen and appreciated. Highly recommend!”

“Had the full English breakfast as did hubbie - quality ingredients, non greasy, cooked to perfection. Daughter had steak baguette and sil salmon with scrambled eggs. All of the food was delicious, served hot and well presented. Service good and considering the quality / portion sizes good value.”

“Couldn't star the food as we didn't have any HOWEVER.... the lady who owns The Gallery is an incredible artist and it shows in the decor. Before I go any further, this is also a great bar with lovely cocktails. Stunning is an understatement, there is something interesting to look at everywhere you turn. Inside and outside, just beautiful, a gorgeous place to visit. I just wish she opened every day and night, but alas, only Thursday to Saturday. Friday being the only late one till 10pm. Go and visit, you won't be disappointed.”

“Breakfast was excellent; both the full English and the salmon bagel were delicious. The customer service was very good, and the menu offers a fantastic variety of breakfast, lunch, and dessert options. The drink options are also good; I had a chai latte, which was perfect. Highly recommended, especially if you are heading to the airport as prices are reasonable too.”

“Great little cinema which is made especially enjoyable by the little introduction that the staff do on each film, giving a little insight into how it was made, or other films the director has made. The place is welcoming to everyone, and when my partner and I went to watch The Handmaiden, there were a wide variety of people in the audience, which is always good to see.”

She greeted us with the kind of warm, natural smile that instantly makes you feel like you’ve chosen the right place for dinner. Nicole’s service was impeccable from start to finish. She struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without hovering, somehow anticipating what we needed before we even asked. Water glasses never dipped below half, orders were double-checked for accuracy. What impressed me most was Nicole’s genuine enthusiasm for the menu. She offered thoughtful recommendations based on our tastes and described each dish with detail – and she was spot-on every time. It’s clear she knows and loves the food here, and that passion is contagious. Beyond the technical side of service, Nicole made the evening memorable with her personable nature. She engaged with us in a way that felt friendly and sincere, not scripted. By the end of the night, we felt less like customers and more like welcomed guests. If you visit, you’re in for a treat no matter what you order – but if you’re lucky enough to have Nicole as your server, you’re guaranteed a truly exceptional dining experience. We’ll absolutely be coming back, and we’ll be asking for her by name.”

“I came in with my granddaughter last week, and I must say, the food was exceptional! Upon walking into the establishment, it felt as if we were transported to New York. As a proud American, I must say I felt right at home! My granddaughter, on the other hand—who is very hard to impress—took her time, but by the time the food arrived, her demeanor had changed. We ordered the Benny's Burger, the schnitzel wrap, and the sweet potato chips. I have to mention that my granddaughter did not make the life of the young lady at the till easy. With the number of notes my granddaughter gave for her schnitzel wrap, I was sure she would be laughed at by our server. Instead, we were met with kind responses, smiles, and absolutely no issues. The food came out very quickly, and all three items we ordered were presented exquisitely! Every note was followed perfectly. The service was probably the best I have experienced in this otherwise abysmal country. I come to England at least twice a year from New York to visit my children and grandkids. I try to give each one time alone with me so I can give each the attention they deserve. My son had mentioned that there was a splendid restaurant I had to try; he has ordered Uber delivery from you a few times. I truly recommend the dine-in experience! I will definitely be returning the next time I come to visit the kids. (I do apologize, as I had intended to share the photographs that were taken. But sadly, only my granddaughter took photos—she has the better phone and therefore the better camera—and she seems to be taking her time sending them to me.)”

“Intimate little restaurant serving fabulous food, all cooked on order by owner and Chef, Mandy. The paella is the best I have ever tasted but don't forget to check the specials board as well. When everything is so good it's ideal that it's tapas, perfect for sharing with family and friends. Menu prices are very reasonable and as it's BYOB, you save money bringing your own alcoholic drinks. (Edit ; they charge that small an amount for corkage i never even noticed until they replied to this review) Friendly, attentive staff in a lovely relaxed atmosphere complete the picture, making this one of my favourite places to bring the people that I love. x”

“Food and Thorn Bistro, led by Nicky and her wonderful team, catered our end-of-year team lunch and delivered directly to our offices in Piccadilly, Manchester. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The quality of the food was fantastic, beautifully presented, incredibly flavourful, and clearly prepared with great care. Every dish not only tasted amazing but looked spectacular, taking our event to the next level and making it a truly special occasion. Nicky was an absolute delight to work with. Her professionalism, warm communication, and attention to detail made the entire process seamless. The delivery and service were exceptional, and the team went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. We will definitely be choosing the Food and Thorn team again in the future. “Popped in for food and it was AMAZING!! I think new owners have taken it over about a year ago? I'm not too sure, but the menu is fabulous and everything that got brought out of the kitchen looked amazing. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back.”
