“My grandsons blessing was held in the Nuns Room, it was a perfect venue. Recently refurbished it had charm and character and was beautifully presented. Our buffet was delicious, we made our choice on Mathews advice, it was perfect. The staff are all so flexible. They are polite and friendly , nothing is too much trouble. A perfect venue !! Thank you for making our day so special x”

“Amazing authentic food and brilliant friendly service. We ordered from the evening set menu. Fresh Lobsters dish made to order and cooked to perfection. We visited during December and even had evening entertainment. Perfect evening all ages. Plenty of parking (4 hours on first floor, ground floor is 90mins as ground floor is mainly used by supermarket customers). One of the best Chinese restaurants in Manchester. Highly recommended.”

“Veterans Breakfast club every Monday. Great place to pull up a sandbag and have a good old chat. Anita, Steve,Alan & Julie the fantastic 4 . Alan & Steve take your order then then even bring g it to you after Anita & Julie have worked relentlessly in the kitchen smashing out Breakfast after breakfast. All you do is sit back and drink as much tea & coffee as you can and put the world to rights. 9.30 - 11.30. The only rules are you need to book in advance so they have an idea of how much food they are going to need.”

Very generous portions too which delighted hubby. We went for lunch and there were tables available without booking. “We visited the shady oak tonight, to try the new menu! We were served by the lovely Michelle who gave us our free glass of Prosecco and told us about what to expect for the taster night. We tried and reviewed all these plates; bread, patè and olives - lovely patè but would be happy with less. Really liked the spicier patè and a nice portion of olives. Hallumi fries - I really enjoyed these, big portion but my partner isn’t keen on honey so he wasn’t into them as much as me. Salt and pepper wings - we both really enjoyed these and would come back just for these! Cajun wings - We liked these but not as much as the salt and pepper ones! Padron peppers - Wasn’t keen on these, maybe because we wouldn’t order them. If you want vegetarian choices there is probably better options out there. Salt and pepper squid - Nice flavour but abit chewy, definitely keep them paired with sweet chilli! Flat iron steak - We would definitely come back just for this. It was cooked perfectly to our liking and melting in the mouth. Lovely peppercorn sauce too! Wasn’t too bothered about the fried onions on the side. Shady oak burger sliders - These were so nice and juicy and as someone who prefers chicken burgers I really enjoyed it! Curry of the week - Not a curry we would choose as we prefer creamier currys like Korma, Butter Chicken, Tikka but was tasty, not too spicy and a good amount of chicken! We will definitely be back again soon to try more dishes and re order some of these ones too!”

“An amazing cosy pub with a ceiling so low you almost have to limbo dance to the bar. They have a nice selection of pies on the bar if you’re peckish, and my fella was well happy to see Murphy’s stout on tap, makes a nice change from Guinness. There is a nice big beer garden out back as well with some seating under cover”

“We really enjoy living at Burlington square apartments. Being a student at the dental school, it is an ideal place to live and also isn’t too far from the centre of Manchester. The apartments are very comfortable and modern. We particularly like that there is a communal area to study/work downstairs and the gym is great too. Wael is always very pleasant and helpful with any questions we have - Danielle and Hugh”

“Went for a breakfast with the grandchildren, was very happy with the food, toast done to perfection, bacon had a chargrilled taste which I loved. The only let down was I like really runny eggs for my toast and beans. But not a dealbraker. The open fire was a bonus along with quite good coffee, being a breakfast coffee, it didn't give you that kick to wake your brain up, more like a brunch coffee.”

“Never been here before but there was a band playing that we wanted to see. Great that some pubs are still willing to have live music. Really busy but the staff were excellent so no problem getting served. Although there was a choice of bitters it's a shame that there was no cask ale. A good looking pub and a friendly atmosphere and the band were brilliant so a really enjoyable Saturday night.”
