“My son and I went in half 6 Saturday evening having just phoned ahead to check. Pub was bustling with a good atmosphere and the restaurant was filling up. Lovely friendly staff tended to us throughout the meal which was delicious! I had the chicken fillet, which had lovely crispy skin and the caramelised onion and potato gratin was fantastic and all held together with a great sauce. He had rump steak, medium rare, which was really nicely cooked. Desserts were equally good. I had sticky toffee pudding which was moist with lots of toffee sauce and a really generous helping of ice cream. He had the chocolate and salted caramel cake which was chocoholics heaven! Highly recommended.”

“Great food and excellent service. Even the pickle tray went far beyond your average offering. The fish pakora was light and flavoursome. I recommend the balti paradise (pictured). Portion sizes are very good and I recommend sharing a rice portion/bread. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area.”

“I visited Costa Gatley Sunday afternoon — a clean, well-maintained store with a cosy atmosphere and a good selection of food options. However, what stood out during my visit was an interaction at the till that left me quite surprised, and not in a good way. When I ordered a medium hot drink, the young girl serving me actively discouraged the choice. She suggested I go for a smaller size, saying: “There’s not much difference in size — go for the small and save some pennies.” As someone who has run a business for over a decade, I found this quite concerning. In most places, staff are trained to upsell — encouraging customers to consider larger sizes or additional items, which is standard practice in retail and hospitality. Her approach, while possibly well-intentioned, directly goes against basic principles of sales and revenue generation. Encouraging customers to spend less, especially unprompted, may seem kind, but it’s ultimately damaging to the business. In my view, this isn’t just unprofessional — it’s a risk to the long-term health of the store. Costa may want to consider reviewing training procedures to ensure staff understand the balance between customer service and commercial awareness. Thank you”

There were 11 of us dining and we have to say that the food has to be up there with any other Indian food we have eaten (most of the family are Indian). We will definitely be going back and highly recommend a visit. Not only was the food amazing the staff (especially the owner) are professional and friendly. A great service all around. I had the chicken roast and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, juicy chicken with crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and rich gravy that tied everything together beautifully. The portions were generous, the presentation spot on, and the flavours reminded me of a proper homemade Sunday dinner, only better! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear the team really take pride in what they do. If you’re looking for the perfect Sunday roast in the area, The Hesketh is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be back next week !”

“Delicious chicken burger and sandwiches overall. I wouldn’t recommend the peanut butter and jelly milkshake -it was really disappointing -but the Oreo milkshake was nice. The sauces were all great, and the tenders were lovely. I tried both a sandwich and the burger. The sandwich was much better; the burger felt a bit bulked out with cabbage, though still tasty. Service was a bit slow -I ordered first but my meal came last out of our group of 11. Overall, I would recommend it for the food.”
