“My prostate problems arose following a relatively routine eye operation; basically, after the operation, I found I could not urinate. A catheter was fitted and there followed nearly five months under the care of a local NHS hospital with visits to A and E, UTIs, large amounts of blood in the urine, extreme pain, soreness, and such like. At one point I was hospitalised for eight days and an emergency operation was performed to cauterise bleeds from the prostate. Quality of life suffered. Day-to-day tasks became a trial, visits were curtailed and holidays cancelled. Finally, I was referred for a HoLEP procedure under the NHS but, because of the long waiting time and the loss of quality of life I opted for the operation to be performed at Spire Manchester by Mr Matthew Liew. The operation was performed within a few weeks from initial consultation. At that initial consultation, the procedure was thoroughly explained and all my questions answered. I was extremely satisfied with the treatment that I received during all my time at Spire Manchester under Mr Liew's care. Post-op, the staff were kind, attentive and supportive. They explained how the operation had gone and what to expect in the coming days and weeks. My recovery so far has followed what was outlined; blood in the urine ceased after about ten days and incontinence has diminished week by week and although still present it has only been six weeks since the operation; it is manageable and much improved since the early weeks. What has changed is my general quality of life. As my wife said, it's given us our lives back since we must be aware of the impact that this has not just on ourselves but on friends and loved-ones too. We are extremely grateful for everything that Mr Liew and the other staff have done for us and we would highly recommend this route to anyone. “Nice day out, grounds are big and wheel chair/push chair friendly. Some steps involved but places to leave the pushchairs. Lots of nice flowers and good woodland areas, shame about the fountain and pool being dry tho or half dry! Lovely landscapes all round and well maintained. We spent couple hours here but have done many halls before, you can make it an all day thing with other activities near by or longer walks around the grounds. The best view for me came from the top of the fields just outside the house, if you have a good camera with a good zoom lens or binoculars it over looks Manchester and Manchester airport! Great for those plane watchers! Also in more windy weather like today it’s good for kite flying on the hill top.”

A range of flora and fauna make for a wonderful nature trail and forage, or a humble walk passively absorbing the natural landscape including forested areas and open pastures featuring abundant wildlife. On our visit most of the amenities were closed due to a met office weather warning, but this didn’t stop us exploring the vast grounds in peace. They often talk about calm before the storm, but rarely the calm during the storm- which is what we experienced due to the lack of fair weather crowds. I can imagine on more typical days tje cafes and visitors centre complete this experience with a warm drink or a hot soup after a brisk autumn stroll. I look forward to experiencing these on a future visit.”

Adam called Worcester Bosch for us to explain the problem for them to come and check out the boiler (the next day!). Adam the replaced the pump and isolation valves (without draining the system!) and is also helping us sort out problems with our kitchen underfloor heating which has never worked properly.
