“Let me start by saying i wish i tried here sooner. Ive stayed with the same takeaways ive tried and tested over the years and if im honest here isnt the best on the eye from the outside so ive been sceptical but i was wrong. Fast service very polite and the food was banging tender full of flavour. The smoked chicken was to die for curry full of flavours just the right amount and surprisingly cheaper than my normal go to. Can honestly say its worth a try. Credit to them. Only downfall is they do not deliver.”

“My daughter and I had afternoon tea here yesterday. It was really nice. The food was fresh. Good selection of items for afternoon tea. Beautiful Teashop and lovely staff. The owner was very nice and accommodating. They also do theme nights, which I'm sure we shall be back to join. The menu was great for other occasions. Breakfasts and lunches, or a drink and a snack. The shop itself was decorated lovely, with indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs were also welcome. Set in lovely surroundings in a park. We will definitely go again.”

“What amazing food! We did have to wait quite a while for our orders but everything seemed to have been made fresh from scratch, so no complaint there. Meals were very fairly priced. I'm lactose intolerant and when asked if there was a dairy-free cappuccino, he said he had dairy-free milk of his own so he would use that if necessary. The cappuccino was great and the servers couldn't do enough for you. I will definitely be wating here again.”

“Went to Barracuda tonight for the first time and it was STUNNING. One of the only places in Mansfield I've known to sell Savaloy which was absolutely delicious. The chips were incredible and very fresh. The servers were also incredibly friendly. I definitely will be coming here again!”

“Ordered on a Saturday night and food arrived after about 45 mins absolutely piping hot, food was delicious, we ordered a mini fish which was probably one of the largest mini fish we've had from a chippy, the chips were spot on and the sausages you could tell were fresh too. Will definitely order from here again.”

“I have left a review before and was really happy with our meals. But I wanted to do a special update. We got married on the 6th of September 2025 and decided to have our reception at The Gate in Langwith. Phil, Denise and the staff were fantastic, listened to what we wanted and had no issues with my requests. On the day we turned up and Denise had decorated the tables in the orangery beautifully. The meal was at the very high standard we have come to love from the chefs and could not fault any part of it. All our guests said it was a beautiful meal and it made our day even more memorable. “Amazing food and service was great, definitely will be back. Peshwari Naan, mushroom rice, lamb shank in bhuna sauce, masala chips, tandoori lamb chops, tandoori king prawns, lamb puri, saag aloo, mushroom bhaji and a chef recommended curry which was all so so good and best I’ve ever had across the board, everything was just next level. Eyes bigger than our belly though so boxed up a few bits to take away - round 2 tonight, can’t wait ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“I would like to take the time to say it was mine and jay first time visiting this evening and wow where to start from our first greeting with Alfie we felt so relaxed and was able to sit and order drinks and relax. We were taken to our table the view over looking the lake was breath taking and beautiful. Our server came jay nothing was to much trouble made lovely conversation. The food was absolutely to die for and far to much of it but we were able to take it home. We are both vapers and you trusted us to leave the table to both go outside together which was lovely, Alfie spike to us on return inside as we were looking through the windows of the outside room the new shisha lounge. Alfie took us inside it's beautiful and we have booked a table to come back in November to try it. We had a little mishap with the server who brought our food out who dropped my rice all over the table. But myself and jay laughed and said it was a learning curve for the staff who felt awful, that didn't change our evening which was stunning from start to finish. “Always a brilliant coffee when visiting Fables, they always have a good choice of cakes to choose from. You get a good sized portion too!!! Service was great, Lorraine always goes that extra mile with great service every time we visit. Great atmosphere always a pleasure to visit! :)”

“There's two cafes on site one just for the humans and one for the doggies and their human family. Its no longer a working pit. And the rewilding of the surrounding area is very well done. Because I remember it when it was black and very dusty.”

“My wife and I went here on a recommendation, I'll be honest it's not the kind of pub I'd usually choose to go but on the way back home I was thinking maybe my usual place id go to isn't that good. The Black Market upon entering was extremely friendly, Dave behind the bar was lovely we had a talk about the craft beers and a giggle. My wife and I had a three course meal here, I had the Nacho's and my wife the garlic mushrooms, it absolutely wasn't what I was expecting. The Nacho's were for Nacho's amazing, the salsa was so fresh and zingy, my wife's garlic mushrooms were really saucy and garlicy (is that a word?) Big portion too. We then had the fish and chips, I have no problems saying this was one of the best if not the best fish and chips I've ever had (being a Norfolk local) I've had my fair share of good fresh fish and chips, the batter was fresh the cod was succulent and fresh. Was a great atmosphere, service was quick and the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was phenomenal This is a place in my humble opinion I would class as a hidden gem, I am doubting my usual technique for choosing where to eat, some of the best places I have eaten are buildings I usually would walk straight past whilst thinking god no. The food here is amazing, the atmosphere and locals here were extremely friendly and welcoming. If you're passing or local and wondering should I try it, absolutely do. Next time I am back in this area I definitely will. Nice craft beers too, also worth mentioning. A real credit to the village. 10/10 from me.”

“A fantastic, proper pub with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Always a perfect pint, whether it's Guinness, lager, nitro keg bitter, or cider, and all at a very reasonable prices. The food is amazing and the Sunday carvery is without a doubt the best I've had. The prices are also really good.”

“Dropped in for lunch today and was greeted by super friendly staff , such a warm and relaxing atmosphere. I had the steak pie with mash and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was, packed with tender steak and bursting with flavour. Couldn’t resist dessert and went for the fruit crumble with custard… absolutely unbelievable! I’m not local, otherwise I’d be back on a regular basis. Thanks for the warm welcome , keep up the amazing service and top quality food!”

“We had such a great day here! tons of exciting slides as well as a fun obstacle course. What really made it special was the paddle boarding! Right next to the water park where you can rent paddle boards. It was the perfect way to wind down after all the water park excitement. The water was calm, the scenery was peaceful, and it was such a fun activity for both beginners and more experienced paddlers. Only “downside” is if you don’t have a car it’s a 40 minute walk from the nearest bus stop but if you enjoy walking it should be no problem! It’s rare to find a place that combines both high-energy water park fun with something more relaxing like paddle boarding — we loved both and would definitely come back. Highly recommended for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a full day of water activities!”

“The food on both of my visits was nothing short of fresh and tasty! On the first visit, I had a Mexican (smash burger). This came with fries, but the drink was not included. The total was £11 but totally worth it. The portion sizes of the seasoned fries are good, and the chips were also very fresh with plenty of seasoning. The second visit, again, I tried peri peri burger with fries, this was also made to perfection, and they do not hesitate to give you sauces! The staff are friendly and always smiling and great at making recommendations and also gave me extra sauces to try! Overall, for the price, they are definitely worth it and I would recommend! Great presentation too!”
