Lunch dining in Retford

“Had a couple of very good Sunday meals here. Nice pub with a separate dining room. Excellent food and you do get a lot. Also veggie friendly - if you mention that when you book the chef will do a special meal, which my wife said was very tasty.”

“A good restaurant is one that does simple things brilliantly Ham egg and chips Delicious deli ham. Crispy chips. Fried eggs sunny side up. PS they are chips, not fries, in Retford!”

“Small cosy little place, great in winter. They do a fantastic breakfast and the tea/coffee is also superb. The atmosphere is obviously very good with it being such a small place and despite them always being busy, the service is very quick! Would highly recommend Taste if you're at a loose end in Retford.”

“Visited several times for meals always cooked to perfection. Sunday lunch did not disappoint the pork just melted in my mouth. All the vegetables are fresh and served piping hot. Would definitely recommend. Staff are welcoming, friendly and nothing too much trouble”

“Day or night, Edi's is fantastic, great food, atmosphere the owner is very friendly. Often comes over for a chat and always makes us feel welcome. I can't recommend this place enough. I really hope this business does well as they have put a lot of money and energy into the business.”

“EDIT: Went back with cash and the service and banter was top notch. Food decent too. Would recommend Heard great things about this place so drove up for big Friday tea for the family only to walk in and see 'Cash Only' sign. Chippy tea not cheap these days so didn't have enough in pocket to pay as, like most people, don't tend to carry cash these days. Will probably come back another time to try the food and leave another review then”

“I've been coming here for a while now with my mother the food is always good I either get a panini or a burger but always with some coleslaw on the side. Which is homemade the waitresses are always polite and friendly and laugh at my lame jokes. This cafe also opens really early in the mornings and you can order lunch if you don't want breakfast the cook knows what he's doing it takes a good meal to make a 260 pound man happy I will continue to come here for some decent and stomach filling food.”

“This place is just lovely and the breakfast muffin is to die for , all top quality produce and cooked beautifully. On top of this the customer service is brilliant, the young waiter ( kieran)who served us today is a real asset to this establishment and at such a young age could certainly teach many other in his industry what a good job looks like :)”

“Called for a light lunch this week as haven't been in for a while. Staff were polite friendly and organised. The food was lovely and presented beautifully. The cakes and scones were fabulous. “Absolutely beautiful small family run business...came and had a gorgeous meal with my partner the team was extremely warm and welcoming to us....there is a great selection of drink choices same with meal choices....food arrived promptly and hot and staff carried regular check backs to make sure we was comfortable and happy. Absolutely loved my chicken balti and pilau rice and highly recommend.....we will be visiting again for sure.”

“Excellent, hidden gem. Good service, pleasant environment, very tasty food. Linen tablecloths and napkins and individual white proper handtowels. What a pleasure. Probably one of the best quiches I've ever had. Couple of suggestions; a little more variety in the salad and parasols for outside seating area.”

“Nice quiet wee motorway stop off, when we were there it was quiet, but still well staffed. Coffee was surprisingly Starbucks and the tea was good too and there is a pretty standard range of sandwiches, snacks and cakes. Toilets are fresh, well maintained and clean, there is a small but functional carpark and a drive through window.”
