“I can't praise this establishment enough. My electric meter tripped on a very wet and windy night and after unsuccessful attempts to switch it back on my self I then called their out of hours number, the guy who answered was so helpful, he came out in the dreadful weather to see if there was anything that he could do and thank fully he isolated the switch which was causing the problem. I really appreciated this and couldn't thank him enough. Not many agents would do that. 5 stars all round.”

“I booked the spa and overnight stay for our 20th wedding anniversary. The spa was wonderful so relaxing and the staff were amazing even preparing us a surprise dessert after our wonderful lunch. The hotel is a beautiful place, our room was perfect. A lot of work has gone into this place to achieve its grandeur. We spent a lovely evening in the bar/restaurant and the food didn’t disappoint and the service was excellent. Thank you all at ye olde bell and spa for helping make our 20 anniversary one to remember.”

“My daughter got married here recently and it was an absolutely amazing day. She married outside in the beautiful gardens which was so lovely. The food was absolutely delicious and the venue room looked fantastic. The evening food of pie and peas was delicious. The staff were lovely and very attentive to all our needs. We stayed the night the rooms very nice they were clean and the beds very comfortable and to round our stay off a great breakfast too.”

“My grandads favourite restaurant, the daal palak and paneer palak are both amazing but the true stand out is definitely the parottas. Flaky, buttery and steaming hot they are a must have. My grandad always has the elms chicken, which changes every so slightly each time he orders it, a good sign that everything is made fresh and from scratch. Staff are friendly and polite, creating a homey atmosphere, a little gem hidden in Retford. Love this place!”

“Stayed here on Sunday the 3rd of August and was pleasantly surprised, a very clean establishment. Newly owned by a lovely bunch of Indians who were overly welcoming as soon as we arrived. The service is impeccable and the prices are unbeatable. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are top quality which for us is key. I mentioned to a member of staff about how great it smelt in the restaurant area baring in mind this is at 9pm on a Sunday night and he goes on to tell me it's the kashmir style chicken I can smell and offered to make me 1, at first I refused because of the time but he then insisted it was fine so although I'd already snacked earlier I decided to try 1. Well again pleasantly surprised. Fresh and delicious packed with flavour. As far as value goes this is the place to stay! Don't believe me ? Come see for yourself. Please don't come expecting a full menu as of yet as they are newly established so it's very very limited but if you trust a recommendation you'll love it. You won't get a pie or fish and chips here so if that's what your after your surrounded by other establishments that will happily accommodate your needs whilst spending only 48 quid on a room here!!!!”

“Truly excellent stay, great value for money the hotel is perfectly situated at the end of the high street so plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. The property is well maintained and beautifully clean. Retford is a cracking little town. Room came with a fan, only real downside is that the room was warm due to no air conditioning however we visited peak of summer.”

“Just for the carvery Amazing price (£11.99 at time of writing), with very well cooked meats (pork, lamb, beef) and excellent extras. Cauliflower cheese and mash got best reception with our family. Super service, friendly staff and lovely setting. Other customers were really friendly too, so s great atmosphere. Unbelievable price for a jug of Pimm's too!! (See pics)”

“Perfect for a stop or a cheap room. Decent size, clean. A little dated but you don't expect much from a Travelodge. Only.tjing was I couldn't plug my phone next to the bed which was a little irritating but nothing I couldn't get over. Staff are friendly and easy to talk to.”

“Used The Hive to store my possessions in between house moves. Site is very clean and secure with container easily accessible at all times of day. I hired the van to move in and out of the Hive which was easy to arrange and made the whole process less stressful. I would highly recommend the Hive and would use again if needed.”

“My boy Jojo has been staying at Firs Cattery for the last 17 years and settles so well there. It’s a home away from home. I’m shaw he feels like one of the family. “What a place, we came here a few years ago and had a great time then….and the site has been improved further since to make it even more comfortable and luxurious. The new tents are large and homely, the kitchen areas attached to each area are well kitted out and the amenities and indoor areas around the site in case of bad weather have grown. Will be keen to come back again :)”

“A beautiful quiet campsite for tents only. Undefined grass paddock with trees and bushes, as well as large open grass areas. Pitch wherever you like, and make use of one of the four or five designated fire pits. Washing up facilities are basic, but adequate. The showers were lovely and hot, and toilet block although basic was kept clean and there was always toilet roll available. The owners / hosts were very accommodating and helpful, and were always available to assist when we had questions. Highly recommend this site for families, young children and anyone wanting a quiet getaway.”

“We have visited a few times for drinks but today was the first time we dined. The Sunday lunch was wonderful - better than anything else we've had in the area. Great staff lead by a fabulous host and the pub itself is lovely and in a good location. No hesitation in recommending this place”

“Always top notch food and service. Great themed nights every so often. Recent family funeral at the Markham moor was the best selection of food for a funeral we have ever seen. Everyone in attendance was raving about the quality. Plenty of parking. Bar area for none formal dining and drinks.”

“We stayed the one night in their Farrier room. Total luxury, friendliness and professionalism from check in to check out. The room was stunning, well thought out and had quality items for us to use. The menu does look extensive and it took a while to choose something but what we ended up with couldn't be faulted, absolutely delicious. The owners are super friendly and unpretentious and their hands on approach topped off a lovely stay, we shall return.”

“4* for convenience, cleanliness, service and for location. We've used The Lawns before and used a family room on 1st floor. Simple but elegant furnishings, so well organised with 2 kitchens to either use for a simple meal or something more. We took our ingredients for a chicken curry and our son and grandson (local) joined us. We will always use The Lawns for value and ease of use. Thank you.”

“My dog Obie is a frequent visitor at Barkingham Barns, and I am comforted by the fact that it’s a home away from home for him. He is a nervous, quiet dog but all of the cuddles and all of the fuss puts him at ease. Beth and Sam are fabulous and I would recommend without hesitation.”

“There concern and duty to the dogs they have their, come first before anything. A nice big paddock for the dogs to run around in. Staff really nice and obvious how they love the dogs their.”

“Thanks so much for the fab meal for my sister's hen do! We were a big group of 22 so not easy but we all got our food, which was very tasty. Charlotte was brilliant from organising the booking beforehand, sorting out the billing and handling 22 tipsy women! All the serving staff were also friendly and helpful!”
