“Awesome local music venue. First time visit, definitely be back.”
“Ordered a cake for a 60th birthday and just wow! Very simple and easy to order over the phone and collect (or have delivered). Cake looked and tasted amazing. Outstanding place and staff, will definitely be back for a milkshake or two. Thank you so much!!”
“Visited today to buy some new running shoes, with very little idea of what I needed as a very new runner. I was served by Andy and he was absolutely brilliant. He shared his knowledge and understanding of running to guide me to the best trainers for me. Thank goodness for Andy he certainly made my choice a lot easier and I am so very happy with my shinny new runners. If you are in the market for a new pair or additional pair of runners I would totally recommend you go to Pau and seek him out. Thanks again from a very impressed new runner.”
“I hadn't been to The Gatehouse since I was a child and had absolutely no memories of what it was like inside. It's fantastic!!!! It's only a small theatre, but it's lovely and open. The bar areas are really nice too. The Staff are brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and they all just really friendly and helpful. I need to start booking more tickets!!!”
“Really great food, and good value too. Between 4 of us, 9 dishes, a pudding and a drink each came to £120 - can't argue with that!”
“On our first visit to Congleton we were lucky to stop here for a beer and a half. Great wee place run by a nice host. If you want to sit and chat over a beer or two this is for you.”
“Staying in a hotel in Hanley for work. Had a walk to this place on my own a couple of nights. Good selection of craft beers to choose from, on draft and in chilled cans. There were also cask and draft cider options. When I visited there were 7 craft beers available including pilsner, IPA, sour and stout. Good selection of music on too, punk, grunge rock. Patrons and staff were friendly and welcoming, the venue is has a calm relaxed atmosphere. Come and support this local business!”
“Very nice cafe good food. Well presented and hot .”
“Fantastic little boozer, great selection of drinks. Friendly atmosphere and fun weekend entertainment. Nice to see Bass back on!”
“A superb, stylish, cosy modern ambiance with warm, friendly and inviting staff. My Mum and Dad kindly took me there for a birthday meal and the entire experience was delightful. The menu was so good I found it extremely difficult to make a choice but when I did, the food arrived in a timely fashion and was absolutely delicious. They clearly have an excellent chef/team of chefs because the standard of the food really was excellent. Each course was of an exceptional quality and was certainly able to justify the price range. The white chocolate cookie dough with caramelised bananas, ice cream and toffee dessert was, in both mine and my Mum’s opinion, one of the best desserts we’d tasted in a long time. Truly divine. The staff were the epitome of professionalism, attentive and friendly; willing to engage in a bit of banter as well as providing excellent service. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. It’s well worth the money.”
“A fantastic welcome. A must visit if you are Market Drayton. The food was delicious. We were there around one on Mothers day. Five of us had roast beef, and one had the roast chicken. Staff were friendly, attentive, and interested in you as a customer. We all had deserts, including apple crumble, cheese cake, and brownie. Craft Beer had a taste of more, and after a few scoops, we sensibly headed home. I will be visiting here again in the next few months. They are renovating across the car park a wooden structure that looks full of character.”
“Absolutely delightful eatery, food was scrummy and staff couldn’t do enough for us. Made me have an epiphany on the drive back home so would definitely recommend”
“World class! Quintessential English beauty in the middle of Staffordshire. From the open log fire, the perfect roast dinners washed down with outstanding refreshments this place takes some beating. Fram and her team make this an outstanding experience and one we cannot to come back….see you guys soon!”
“How much cheese?! This has to be one of the best finds for me ... Drinks & Bites is simply a gem that I will be coming back to when I am visiting Middlewich for work. The New York Deli sandwich is just pure perfection with a tonne of heavenly melted cheese, and it may look small and basic on the outside, but boy, it was anything but! The two ladies serving and making the food were so lovely and very welcoming, investing time in their customers and having a nice chat while the food was being made up from scratch! Highly recommend. Get your butt's here for an epic sandwich/toastie and support local!”
“Farima was our waitress this evening, She was friendly and helpful with regards to our nut allergy needs. No task to hard checking ingredients for us. Aswell as taking us a photo together with our food. We've been a few times here and food is always exceptional and so are the staff. Warm and welcoming as always thankyou for a lovely night!”
“Recently reopened and what a pleasure to visit. We have walked, cycled and driven to this pub. Situated on the main road from Biddulph to Congleton, and a stones throw from the Biddulph valley way, it’s a perfect place for a pit stop. Warm, welcoming and relaxed, serving basic pub grub, but done just right and at a reasonable price! Staff are friendly and welcoming and after a couple of visits, remember you, which adds to the experience. Good selection of beers and wines, with Timothy Taylor being a very nice pint.”
“Beautiful clean pub. Excellent service from the very friendly land lady. Everywhere was clean and well looked after.”
“Fabulous country pub! We just spent a night here in our motorhome and would highly recommend the place. Food was excellent, atmosphere was vibrant, and the staff were polite and helpful. There's something for everyone here, family and dog friendly. Large car park, outside toilets for motorhome stopovers, and lots of space for vans, motorhomes, campers etc. Thank you for a great evening.”
“Went today for a team Christmas lunch. It wasn’t overly busy so we were served efficiently. Everyone enjoyed their food, there was plenty to get round after a few orders of the light bites and the Christmas dinners looked excellent. We didn’t bother with puddings so can’t comment but what we saw coming out looked decent. Special mention to Jack for being attentive and looking after us and his photography skills! Will definitely return especially during the summer as such a great location and n the canal.”
“What a delightful tap-pub/ bar with some great beers and wonderfully restored/ preserved historic bank interiors. Delicious Breakfast stout is smooth and subtly tasty. Friendly and helpful bar staff. A great place to get gently sozzled over an afternoon…”
“Excellent meals with a good variety of options to meet dietary needs/preferences, quality drinks with a terrific atmosphere and excellent customer service from the friendly staff. Would definitely recommend dining here. Thanks a lot.”
“Excellent food and top notch pub management. Very friendly and welcoming. The menu is pub food, no pretences, just good, honest traditional food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The landlady was very welcoming on arrival and made us feel like we were special. Would definitely visit again.”
“Lovely place now known as Sam's, relaxed atmosphere lovely coffee and cake nice to have somewhere nice to go in town.”
“Perfect little pub. Such a big range of gins and ales. And i have never seen people in a pub look so cosy while watching football. The lady behind the bar was so lovely and super helpful and made us feel right at home. Dogs are welcome and free pool! Can't wait to come back soon.”
“Really good night the staff are really nice and help with anything you need really good business!!”

“Great service and very accommodating, nothing ever too much trouble.”
“Incredible event service! Arrived on the dot with pre cooled beer and wine. The wine was in cooler boxes to last 12 hours. Glasses for everything. The prices were similar to a supermarket; quality for quality. Friendly, relaxed service. What’s not to like? Superb!”
“Love this shop! always in there :) lovely service all the time. Very welcoming and great customer service :)”
“The staff are fantastic here from the owner Raj Sue and all the other members of the team everything in this shop is much much cheaper than the so called high street giant's such as Tescos and Sainsbury's never go anywhere else to buy my newspaper or cigarette's how can a small one man operation be 60p cheaper on a packet of cigarettes than the so called high street giant's Raj won't be giving them away he will still be making his profit margin long live the small business owners”
