βIt was my husband who discovered this place for our dinner with friends. Great vibes and love the fact it is a community pub. My starter of the Korean cauliflower was absolutely amazing and I could have very happily eaten a larger portion as a main. For my main however, I went for the pesto bread and butter pudding and again this was delicious. My husband and friends enjoyed their meals. I was too full for pudding but as I wasn't driving, I enjoyed the special cocktail, whiskey sour, before we headed home. Good vegetarian options.β
βWe popped in Thursday 18th of September 2025 , for something to eat with my wife and daughter, because we haven't been to Shrewsbury for years, my daughter had a 4 day break in the city. It's a quaint little cafe , service with a smile and friendly. Reasonable prices good atmosphere it was about 3 o'clock ish and still busy , but got seating okay. Food was lovely and it was prompt . So all in all well worth a recommendation to come again when we next return from Liverpool. Thanks again all staff and cooks from the Taylor trio liverpool.β

βWe were served by Hannah C today at Ego Shrewsbury and I have to say she was excellent. So kind, caring and efficient. She catered for everyoneβs needs superbly - from the youngest 4 year old to my 90 year old father. Thank you so much Hannah for making our family Christmas meal so relaxed. Food was yummy, atmosphere great. Thank you Ego. All your staff are a credit to you.β
βAt last! A proper pub with proper beer, where you can have a proper conversation without intrusive TV screens and not given over to diners rather than drinkers. The Shrewsbury Arms has been completely and tastefully redecorated, with William Morris pattern wallpapers throughout. We (two couples) went on a Wednesday evening where a generous selection of cheese, pate and salami + biscuits was available - all free! There were plenty of customers there, although like many 'wet' pubs I can imagine it could be pretty quiet at times. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. PS: Did I mention that the beer was excellent? I can recommend Pig On The Wall... Edit: Typoβ

βKanu Poke Imagine eating in a work of art and tasting wonderful, exciting gastronomic delights! Welcome to Kanu Poke in Shrewsbury. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a smiling George who was one of the co owners. On commenting about the on-trend decor, he explained that the artwork was designed and painted by his partner Katie. We were a tad early but it wasn't a problem. Seated upstairs in a great window seat we really felt like we were on holiday. Surrounded by colorful murals we were hoping that the meals were going to be as good as the decor. We weren't disappointed. A pleasant server greeted us with some tasty bites and took our drinks order, when they arrived they were colourful just like the decor. The nibbles had set the tone for what was about to come. Popcorn Chikanu and Teriyaki Tofu as starters followed by the Crispy Tofu Sunflower Satay and The Mexicana. We also had a refreshing pan seared teriyaki vegetable medley. Wow, the flavours were unbelievably tasty and fresh and the service quick. What's more it's Vegan, Gluten and Nut free. It's the perfect place to eat plant based flavoursome food. What a find. Keep up the good work!β
βVery welcoming. Light and clean, generously sized rooms with country views. Delicious breakfast with healthy and nutritious offerings, and an added bonus of tasty freshly laid eggs in the Full English choice. I will definitely stay there again when I'm in the area.β
βOn arrival the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. On a Friday and Saturday its a tasting menu. Each course was absolutely delicious. The quantity of everything served was high. A real taste sensation The basil icecream was a beautiful surprise. All areas were spotlessly clean. Service was spot on. Highly recommended restaurant.β
βAmazing food, great service. Go for quiche, mixed salad and some cajun potatoes. Carrot and ginger super smoothie is also worth a go!β
βFirst time we've visited Shrewsbury and we stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant. I had the leek, gorgonzola and honey pizza which was so delicious I didn't want my meal to end. Staff were lovely and the whole experience was amazing. We'll definitely come back!β

βWhat an absolutely stunning place. For such a huge old building the 1st thing that struck me was the cleanliness, its immaculate. Sunday lunch was beautiful, with friendly service and our room was outstanding. With the winter offer it was real value for money. Our bed was so comfy.β
βGood pizza. I love the starters. The dough pillows were extremely soft and yummy so was the bread and olives. Nice drinks. It would be 10 stars if you had garlic dipβ
βWe came here for our works Christmas meal. There were 30 of us and everyone loved it! The service was spot on and the food was excellent, even for such a big group. Days later people are still talking about what a lovely time they had and how good the food and service were. We'll be back next year!β
βMy little one loves going here. They have a wonderful mix of farm animals, which you can feed (the animal food to cheap here compared to other places). They also offer lamb milk feeding which is so cute. They have a barn with cars and bits in, a lovely park and a woods to walk through which help to provide variety and extend you visit. The food and drink is good quality (they have a variety of home baked goods) and for low prices.β
βI had green curry, it was so delicious, I loved it so much. Hoping to go back soon. P.S. I donβt leave reviews regularly, but after seeing many spammy reviews with negative comments and fake photos, I wanted to let people know that itβs a lovely place to eat.β
βGreat pub fantastic conservatory and pub garden prices are low to medium nice local larger and cider. Service great and friendly nibbles offered sometimes and may be possible to eat outside food on premises.β
βA little piece of Greece in Shrewsbury. AMAZING food & vibes. Love the little blackboard menus as the food is made fresh. & always as specials. It was fun chatting to other people dining about what they had & we had or were going for as we all had different boards dotted around. We will definitely be back. (Parking on road or opposite) I had the chicken gyros & my partner had the beef which was like a stew. Iβm already craving another it was so good! We will pop out for takeaway one Wednesday evening for sure. Iβm yet to try the lush looking baklava! It looks like it would be a gorgeous place to visit one summer evening too in the garden.β
βWe were on the lookout for a spontaneous dinner and drinks spot and were pleased to stumble upon The House of the Rising Sun. From the moment we arrived, the customer service stood outβthey made sure we were accommodated even though we didnβt have a reservation. Since it was a last-minute night out, we ended up seated at the high chairs, which were a bit uncomfortable, especially if youβre dressed up (like in a tight shirt dress). The interior design is impressiveβstylish and atmospheric, though a little too dim for dining. It feels more like a place thatβs tailored for drinks and conversation. One standout feature is the bar with its aquarium-style backsplashβabsolutely eye-catching. We tried the Teriyaki Beef and Chicken Katsu. The katsu was excellentβcrispy, flavorful, and definitely best enjoyed with rice. The beef, on the other hand, was slightly chewy and not as tender as expected. For drinks, we had the classic Mojito and their signature cocktail, Land of Smiles. The latter was a highlightβrefreshing with a unique spicy kick that really elevated the experience. Overall, The House of the Rising Sun is a lovely spot for a date night, especially if youβre after a cozy ambiance and creative cocktails. Weβd definitely go backβhopefully with a reservation next time!β

βThis is the best pizza you'll ever have! The pizza was absolutely delicious. The price was amazing also, what a bargain! Its made fresh there and then and the staff were professional and pleasant. It only took about ten minutes from ordering to walking out the door with the boxes.β
βI was delivering garden goods to the property. Staggered by the timeless ambience and beauty of this fine period house and gardens. Like walking into a Somerset Maugham story. Perfect as a film set, hotel or wedding venue. Friendly owners. Am thinking of booking a weekend here.β
βThe food was superb. By a long way the best shooting ground cafe I've ever visited and not overly priced either. I'd definitely use them for lunch when I'm in the area even ifnim not shooting clays.β
βGreat place. Homely and got a very warm welcome. Breakfast was top quality local sausages and bacon, a very good filling breakfast. Worth Β£70 a night. My husband and I definitely want to return Highly recommendedβ
βI had my wedding here on the 8th August 2025. Abby and Howard did such a fantastic job. Our ceremony was in the cave at the follies, our reception was at the hotel. Our day was absolutely perfect and all our guests complimented all the work Abby and Howard did. The day ran smoothly and there was no stress or issues. The hotel was spotless and extremely clean. They moved our belongings to the bridal suite, and left us a lovely surprise when we retired to our room at night. The food was absolutely delicious. Food was delivered warm and in a timely manner. Abby even assisted me with setting everything up ready the day before my wedding. I cannot compliment Abby and Howard enough. Abby especially has been wonderful over the last 18 months of wedding planning. She has always been polite, responsive and so incredibly kind and welcoming to my family, guests and ourselves. Our wedding was a very long day and Abby and Howard were absolutely exceptional. We truly cannot thank you enough for giving us the wedding of our dreams. I would strongly recommend couples to get married at the follies, it an intimate wedding is preferred. It was beautiful and the views were just breathtaking. We had additional guests for our wedding breakfast, with further guests for our evening reception. All at the Hawkstone Park Hotel. Abby was very accommodating to our needs. Abby, Howard, we will never forget your kindness and hard work. Thank you both so much. We will forever be grateful. Highly recommend!!! x x xβ
