“Absolutely amazing bar staff great owner”
“Had a small wake here after a family funeral. Food was great sandwiches, chips, pork pies, quiche, home made cake, tea and coffee. Great staff, great refurb pub. Would not hesitate to use this as a venue again.”
“Lovely country pub, Ron and Brenda are very welcoming, lovely atmosphere.”
“I went for the guy with the nose piercing that appears in the photo and he wasn't there. I fell in love with him”
“Great night in there last night ,Saturday, great selection of beers ,good singer on great atmosphere staff were very pleasant will definitely be going back soon.”
“A group of us, from Fenton Chess Club, went for our annual Christmas meal. The food was excellent as was the service. I would certainly recommend it to my friends”
“Fantastic food and cocktails, their website doesn't do justice to how good this place is. Well worth a visit if you're in Stone.”
“Can’t comment on the rooms as we didn’t stay. We stopped at The Huntsman as we were passing through Cheadle on the way home on a Sunday and were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by the staff and shown to the lodge with lovely festive decor. The Sunday lunch was a generous size and was delicious! Our children had a wood fired pizza which was equally as delicious. Sad we didn’t get to stay for dessert due to time constraints but would definitely recommend to anyone passing through.”
“A fantastic pub with friendly staff and welcoming regulars. It's family friendly and pets are allowed. I always have a good time here; it’s one of my favorite pubs in Stoke. Thank you for all the wonderful nights!”
“we stayed in the triple bed room for two adults and child, clean room and bright with bathroom, all self service, code at the front of the accommodation and a code at your room door. Slept well in the massive comfortable bed.”
“We went for a sunday dinner today and I have never had a better sunday lunch in my life. There was 3 of us and we shared a sunday lunch board. Great portions, fantastic selection of veg on the board with succulent ham and the best pigs in blankets i’ve ever seen. Words cannot describe how good this meal was, if i could vote it 11/10 i would. Big shoutout to the chef Ryan who did a fantastic job.”
“Don’t judge a book by its cover. The front of the pub might need some maintenance but once you’re inside, you’ll find a cosy, family-run pub with lovely, attentive staff and great views of the surrounding countryside. The Sunday carvery is generous with a variety of meats and a vegetarian option. There are also other non carvery options if you fancy something different. Overall an authentic choice for a quaint Sunday lunch!”
“Very beautiful pub with a lovely outdoor area. Staff were friendly and the food was good. Definitely a must visit”
“Lovely pub, well presented and I'm not one to comment on toilets, but they're very well kept and clean. Great atmosphere and would definitely go again.”
“Love the old-timey feel of this pub, and they have a brilliant ale selection. Always enjoy a visit here.”
“Fabulous pub, with friendly staff”
“Great Hartshill pub. Really friendly. Left my purse there by accident and staff had put it safely aside. Highly recommend.”
“Had breakfast for four this morning and it was delicious. Hands down there is nowhere locally as good for taste and value for money”
“This pub does not get enough credit as it deserves. Visited today for sunday dinner and oh my god, one of the best homemade dinner we had in Stoke. Think it would help massively if the pub would concentrate a bit more on the marketing side and social media to promote their delicious food. Not quite sure on the pub ownership, it looks independent more than a chain, which it should made it more flexible to promote it a lot more. We have also tried the normal evening menu on a different o as and this has not disappointed either. Very very good and competitive prices considering the market value, the food portion is just over the normal size as well. Desserts homemade too. I wish I could share this experience to more people and hopefully people will visit this place more, it truly deserves to be part of the food awards. The place has a huge carpark and it is easy to find, plus they have a very decent selection of drinks. If you want some good quality food, please give it a chance. This review is solely based on my experience and it is not an ad. The dinners were £11 each.”
“Welcoming and good atmosphere. Separate dining area from bar area. Food was amazing, service was great. Nicely decorated.”
“Brilliant food, service and drinks. All served with a friendly smile even when they’re clearly very busy. Well worth a visit”
“We arrived on an early sunday evening and it was busy. However the host (possibly a manager) she kindly acknowledged me and advised she would be with me shortly. Soon after she returned and was able to accommodate our walk in table request for 3 people and a dog. She was very friendly and welcoming. I think there is just one room where dogs can sit but the room was very pleasant with all the Christmas decorations and fairly lights. Our table was by the fire which was nice and they kindly lit it for us on request. The gentleman who served us was very pleasant and friendly. Possibly a manager ( sorry I didn't get his name) but he was dressed different to the other staff and he was very accommodating getting water for the dog etc. The food was delicious and a decent size, we all had Sunday roasts and they were excellent. Beautifully presented and very tasty. They even kindly let my mum have the kids version as due to dietary issues she can't eat too much. This place has a lovely ambience, all the staff were very friendly and pleasant, even fellow customers were friendly. There was a big table near us that were no trouble and seemed nice but as they were quite drunk they were very loud and even swearing quite a bit which isn't ideal when trying to enjoy a relaxing meal but it didn't spoil our meal at all we just decided to have the coffee and desert at home in a bit more peace :-) We live nearby and having passed by many times we always thought how nice it looked from the outside so we had wanted to visit for a while. I am so glad we finally did and we all said how lovely it was inside and that we would definitely return based on this visit. Delicious food, average prices, lovely, friendly staff and a cosy welcoming atmosphere, what more could you ask for. Thank you to the guy who looked after us so well, he was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome.”
“We had a vegetarian Sunday Lunch - gorgeous roasties and Nut Toast with the usual veggies. Really good portions and helpful, friendly staff. 2 main courses and 2 pints for under £36”
“Best burgers i have had amazing, well recommended”
“Can’t rate the food at the Rose and Crown high enough for the cost. Really top notch quality for the cost. I had the large fish and chips, the wife had the small and the daughter small gammon, egg, pineapple and chips. All of the special menu. 3 plates, 3drinks, £45….bargain!”
“I've always tried to see the best in places, rather than the worst, but Stoke has always been problematic, until now. It turns out that the locals are just like you and I, Jonathan Gullies aside, and the trick is to park the wrong side of enemy lines, and just walk into a very local pub, and brazenly pretend that you belong there, even though everyone there knows that you don't... What happens is that friendly staff serve you beer much cheaper than standing outside that Harvester outside the ground, and you get a Staffordshire welcome thrown in for free!.. Wish I'd found this place years ago”
