“Just nipped in for a drink.. lovely pub & excellent location for the Piece Hall.”
“A lovely Italian restaurant in Halifax. Our 2nd visit when going to a Piece Hall gig and it was busy. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Highly recommended for Italian in Halifax.”
“Had a lovely meal at the Duke of York. We ordered the fish & chips and scampi & chips — both came in really generous portions and were cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a delay with the food due to the chef being unwell, but the team handled it really well — we were even offered free drinks while we waited, which was a lovely gesture. A special mention to Ellie, the manager, who was especially kind and made sure we were looked after.”
“Lovely atmosphere, great service, small but just how a pub should be.”
“We held our after wedding meal here. The food was superb, the service second to none, nothing was too much trouble. I wish we lived closer to make it our local! Fabulous”
“DJ was the best man in that place made my gay black friend feel the most welcome in a bar he has ever felt and it’s difficult normally for my friend to fit in”
“Cheap drinks and friendly atmosphere. Membership is required, however you can hire out function rooms.”
“Good beer, reasonable price. Jobs a good'n.”
“Not been, to be honest, just want to say it's great to see an old pub doing great things. Lived on Halifax Rd back in the 70s and remember seeing your pub everyday. Good Luck.”
“The hotel and staff were awesome, and the room was spotless, plus the hallway smelled amazing. But, I was bummed that the pool and gym were closed until noon, which was when I had to check out, even though I thought they'd be open. Also, the outlet in my room, 131, didn't work, and some of the furniture needs to be replaced because it's getting old.”
“Stayed here for the night while myself and Mum saw a concert at peace hall the staff where lovely and welcoming the DJ outside during the day played all the best music and the roast chicken wrap van was a very nice touch. The rooms where clean and the beds where extremely comfortable we will definitely be staying here again if we are in the area Thanks for a great stay”
“Polite friendly staff clean and tidy food nice just could of been hotter nice little pub inside”
“Didn't eat, but beer was great. Well kept ales, great prices, and they are part of the CAMRA discount and voucher scheme, which meant my pint cost £3.25. Amazing value. Great atmosphere, too, with 2 different footy matches on as well as a northern soul event.”
“Brilliant pub now it has been taken over by the owner of the Murgatroyd Arms just round the corner. Inside is very similar as before but the outdoor seating and shelter is a lot better now to sit out and have a drink.”
“Good pubfor cask ale and free jukebox.”
“Great little pub not been for a long time but still nice little place and right by the wonderful borough market too”
“Really nice landlord and land lady so kind and helpful with all the covid stuff... would highly recommend for party's or just a quick drink”
“I have been here a couple of times before. A really atmospheric old world pub with a great selection of 6 real ales. Paulicarus spotted Hey Jude, from local small brewery Darkland. It was a bit thin with not much flavour but a new brewery for me to tick off. The Taylor's Landlord was great. There is a pool table and TV's. Not far from the Piece Hall. Well worth a visit.”
“Great food and bar staff. It was a little quiet but then we were there at 7pm before the kitchen shut at 8.”
“Just had a lovely pre-show meal at the Trading Rooms before the Olly Murs concert. Attentive service, priority entry to the hall, excellent food and a lovely ambience. it's the way to go before a show.”
“Was a pleasure to walk into this establishment after 10 years and see that the owners/management have done an amazing job of making this place look amazing! Clean! Good atmosphere! Brilliant prices! Absolutely gob smacked at how it looks! The refurb and new carpets have transformed the place! I will certainly be going back there! Well done guys! A ******”
“Love this little pub has karaoke always full of happy people friendly staff”
“Went for breakfast, coffee and cake and it was absolutely worth it. Prime location in piece hall with outdoor seating, wonderful staff and customer service and delicious goods. Also quite affordable and a friendly ambience. Would definitely recommend! Is on lower ground floor next to library has wheelchair accessibility.”
“Cheap and cheerful. Rooms are clean, bed comfy. Tea and coffee in room. Shared toilet and shower rooms and the the Boss, Jackie is lovely.”
“Had a wonderful meal here recently. Food was fabulous and the staff were great and very helpful with my gluten free needs. Thank you, we will definitely be back”
“Food is well priced, pub is very busy sometimes, but worth the wait ✋️”
“We had a fantastic time at The Old White Beare in Norwood Green. It’s a beautiful, characterful pub with a really cosy atmosphere and a proper village feel. The staff were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent – generous portions, well cooked and nicely presented. Our mains were full of flavour and the desserts were the perfect finish. Great choice of drinks too, with plenty of beers, wines and spirits to pick from. Loved the relaxed vibe and the comfortable seating areas, both inside and out. It’s the kind of place you can happily spend an afternoon in. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend The Old White Beare to anyone looking for a quality pub meal in a lovely setting.”
“Its one of my locals and a famous old pub in Halifax, plenty of character and characters. Say hello if you pop in.”
“This pub has a new manager Shannon she's only been in 8 weeks. She's very friendly & has a bubbly personality. I can already see the pub getting more customers in everytime i visit. The atmosphere and staff are great. The pub is clean and beer great. There's now singers on every Thursdays to see how that goes. Haven't marked the food as they don't sell meals, only your normal, crisp, nuts, etc.”
“Brilliant staff friendly customers and fairly priced cant think of a better pub”
