“Scruffy but who cares. Unpretentious. It's where I get my bananas! They are basically a veggie shop but sell lots of other things that are good for you (though you may have to scramble over a sack of potatoes or a person to get to them). Now I come to think of it they carry an amazing lot of stuff, from said bananas to frozen meals (posh ones) to bread to aubergines. Lots of organic food/veggies. I like it very much.”
“I was travelling with my toddler and parents. The staff obliged me with an early check-in for one of the rooms, which was very considerate. The location is great and property itself is very nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I recommend this property to anyone wanting a nice stay at Bath. We also thank Fauzia for going out of her way to help us. Thank you again for a lovely stay!”
“We had a vegetarian grazing box from GG for an outdoor event. Really impressed with the quality and quantity of the contents. Loads for two people with a few bits left to take home. The cheeses and red pepper roulade excellent.”
“The food was good and the place was nice enough but what really made it great was the service. The people working there are kind and friendly and did their best to make it an enjoyable experience.”
“Colonna & Small's – what a beauty. I ordered myself an iced oat milk latte and it was just the thing for the summer heat. The plain croissant and the chocolate one were both buttery, fresh and absolutely delicious. The vibe is minimalist and it’s definitely a must-visit. I only wish I had more time to sit and work from this lovely café, enjoying their excellent speciality coffee.”
“We are very lucky to have two local organic growers and grocers within the north and east side of Bath - Please use and support, before these wonderful resources are lost..... shop local!!!!! and Organic - it is the future!”
“My favourite stop between Bristol and Bath. Absolutely beautiful and a lovely attraction to add to your journey. Cheap prices and a fantastic range of different meals I am stunned at what they can provide! A wonderful place to stop if you're cycling past on the Bristol / Bath Cycle Path. There is also a fantastic charity called wheelers that runs next to the waiting rooms that helps people with accessibility needs enjoy the wonders of cycling, I would highly recommend!”
“Love to get my takeaway coffee here, the Dubai chocolate cookie was sooo delicious I regret the decision to share it with my partner…”
“One of my favourite places to shop, for snacks, ingredients on the upper floors. (Especially Konjac and Gluten/bean curd snacks) Your best go to for affordable tasty food! Extremely helpful staff who will guide you towards anything you're looking for, please visit, expand your platter!”
“Went here for my sisters birthday brunch and it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the portion sizes are generous. Good atmosphere and lovely ambiance.”
“incredible flat white and the cookies are the best i’ve ever had! staff were so lovely, lovely little cafe :) side note - the playlist was amazing, this place has great vibes!”
“Great filter coffee. Not a lot of seating inside but gets the job done. Very friendly baristas and high quality brews.”
“In a city full of coffee shops - this one is my favourite. Tucked in the back streets away from the hustle and bustle. Amazing vegan cookies.... Oh and coffee!”
“Posting reviews is not a habit for me but, just occasionally, it seems necessary. I have just seen a negative comment about Dexter's here, which deserves to be highlighted because it is really so wrong. Dexter's is a fine coffee shop, with a dedicated owner, loyal staff, and many regular and satisfied customers like me. The negative comment is really destructive. The writer, shining her London coffee credentials in truly pompous fashion, weighs in on the owner, the quality of the coffee, the uniqueness of her terrible experience compared to the normal welcome she experiences elsewhere, and ends by telling us all to avoid at all costs. So, first to correct the narrative. Dexter's, in five years of trading in this part of Bath, has brought a community to life. It is a meeting point and a place for conversation, a place where good things in life are celebrated, and not so good things are comforted. The coffee is sourced from a reputable local roastery, Extract and the owner knows precisely what her clientele need, which is really good coffee and light snacks, delivered consistently in a great atmosphere. But she is balancing a complex community; the shop is welcoming to owners and dogs, walkers and cyclists, people working and meeting. To keep all of us happy, and her business running, she has to be a manager and a diplomat. She does it brilliantly. Sometimes, people do push things a bit. Cyclists, like me, might lay a bike across the window; or someone may bring their lunch from somewhere else and spread it out for an hour whilst working and drinking one coffee. All without asking. Luckily such things are rare, and nearly always no offence was ever intended, but it is necessary to point out a problem, put it right and carry on. But of course there is always a reviewer out there who, if crossed, feels the power to write a review which slams not one thing, but everything about an establishment. And in doing so, the reviewer shows herself to be a righteously indignant huffer and puffer. Dexter's is great, so is the coffee and the company. Do not avoid. Unless that is, you are one of those negative reviewers who delights in trying to destroy small and valuable businesses. By all means please, you, stay away. See you at Dexter's everyone else!!”
“So so good!!! One of the best pistachio croissants I’ve ever had. Also got a yummy beef and potato pasty and a chocolate croissant swirl bread. They have quite a big selection of other pastries as well. Highly recommend if you’re in Bath.”
“Very beautiful spot and a great view. The moka was delicious, the food was good too. There only a few tables tho so you might not get the one with the view”
“I love this Lidl. Very spacious and good price of items. Broad categories of items. Good staff as well.”
“Comprehensive range of deli products + basics such as fruit and vegetables and a variety of good quality bread.”
“Beautiful shop and lovely, helpful staff! I really appreciated their wide range of gluten free products - I just had one of their gluten free chocolate orange friands …. I think possibly the best GF treat I’ve ever had! It is quite pricey but worth it - picked up a rewards card while we were there as I know we’ll be back! And, if you’re interested, a huge Diddly Squat section!”
“Me and my mum enjoyed our afternoon tea here so much yesterday we came back for a sweet treat today too. The food is delicious and the service is excellent too. The dairy free afternoon tea was amazing! I would highly recommend Sweet Little Things!”
“Local pop up cafe on a friday. Very very inexpensive food.”
“Popped in for a coffee and cake. I must say the coffee was nice and the cakes were amazing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Outstanding customer service!! Highly recommended!!”
“Just the same as ever!! Lovely to be home in my childhood village with millions of memories all around me!!”
“We had two flat whites, great coffee! We got lucky and ordered before a lot of people arrived. Got served in good times and sat at one of the tables to enjoy our coffees.”
“The place was aesthetically pleasing, I visited Bath for 3 days and on my last day there I tried this shop, for an afternoon tea, as I was tired strolling around the town. There I was, resting and I tried their biscoff cupcake and a pot of tea. It was a nice experience, they just seemed a bit lack of staff, there were only 2 of them, and it was a bit busy, the other one felt like she was new. Other than that it was a good experience.”
“Excellent Cacio e pepe, pasta specials, coffees and selection of coffee drinks. 10/10 would recommend”
“Wow! Incredible breakfast rolls! Lovely friendly staff Will go out of my way to visit again, Well worth checking out!”
