“Came here tonight on are way home from brid to Leeds we had four starving kids in the car with us and luckily happened to notice this takeaway with seating area…. Wow best service ever kids got pop corn chicken and chips and donner meat wraps and me and my partner had a calzone it was the best calzone we have ever had… soooo tasty steak chicken donner and salami with extra cheese Zara who works at the shop have all of us a free drink each as we spent £50 and also gave all the kids a Lollie. We will be coming back again next time we come home from the caravan.”

“Oh what a Chinese this is. If you know Golden City you will already know what an amazing Chinese it is, but if you’ve not come across it before, don’t look any further. I have been coming here for around 13 years and my wife and her family have been coming here for around 30 years. In that time we have never had a bad meal. Honestly everything on the menu is fantastic, I haven’t tried everything but a good handful of dishes and most starters. I strongly recommend the salt and pepper chicken or prawns, chicken in black beans and the sweet and sour chicken. The prices have gone up over the years which is understandable but absolutely worth it for the portion sizes you get and the quality of the food. Thank you Golden City.”

“A fantastic family meal! We had booked a table for 7pm and arrived on the dot, there wasn’t any other customers in at that point so we got seated and served straight away. We browsed the menu and ordered quite a few different dishes, our drinks came straight away and the food wasn’t much longer! The aromatic duck starter was lovely however there wasn’t enough wraps, we were maybe 2-3 short of what we needed, it would also be nice to see bigger duck portion options as you can only order 1/4 crispy duck. Our mains arrived shortly after, all of which looked, smelled and tasted amazing. The place started to fill up and before we knew it there wasn’t a table empty which is great to see! Some of the dishes are a little pricey but honestly the taste and portion sizes make up for it! We live 3 hours away from York and are already planning our next trip so that we can come back to Hong Kong Chop House for another delicious Chinese feast! Keep up the great work.”

“Debbie is a fantastic florist, my flowers not only looked beautiful but lasted. These were a surprise from my husband, Debbie asked him what flowers I liked and whether I wanted formal or informal and what colours were my favourite. She got it spot on. A lovely and very unexpected treat.”

“It isn’t often I give 5 star but this place deserves it! Before you even get chance to walk in the place, staff are already greeting you and asking how we were. The staff were friendly throughout the whole service and were very welcoming/accommodating as I had a young baby. The food was amazing! There is a large selection so there will definitely be something for everyone! On this occasion, we went for one of the set menus which is great value for what you get. The portions were perfect sizes and there was not a long wait time. If I lived in/near York, this place would definitely be a regular stop for me!”

“I honestly don't know how they can produce such high quality food as a buffet, with so many available dishes. All the meat was tender, even the beef. They had some unusual dishes to try, like eel sushi, which was delicious and apples cooked in wine, which was the star of the show, in my opinion. Very friendly staff too. “I have been here twice this year, both times the food was excellent and the staff were lovely. The restaurant itself is nice and has a great view of the river. What more can you ask for? As well as this I am lactose intolerant which can cause problems when eating out, however at this restaurant they have an entire vegan menu and they will adapt pizzas to make them lactose free. The pizza dough recipe here does not contain milk. The staff here take intolerances seriously and are very helpful when you have questions. In my experience, some restaurants act inconvenienced or do not understand when you have a dietary requirement, but I can eat at this restaurant with confidence as I know that the food will not upset my stomach whatsoever which is rare as I have a stomach condition on top of lactose intolerance. They have amazing vegan garlic bread, even my partner was impressed with it. The vegan cheese that they use is really good too, unlike most places. This is our go-to restaurant now in York and I highly recommend it.”

“Lovely service and great discounts for students. My partner and I were doing our weekly shop last week. Once we had got to the end of the till ready to pay, the staff member linn/lynn(unsure of the spelling) asked if we had everything we needed and also asked if we were students. They couldve have just let us pay but instead let us know about the student discount and grab our Id. She saved us money on our shopping and was lovely to speak to. Will happily go again.”

The security guard then helped by folding and loading the wheelchair. We are new to managing a wheelchair and the help was so god to have, particularly with the heat of the day.
