“When looking for a place to eat we seen this place on Google. We were staying around piccadilly was around 10 min walk from there. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and did everything to make sure you enjoyed the food and your time there, lots of advise and options on food if you weren't sure about anything. Food was amazing and did not have to wait long for it. Great atmosphere lots of laughter from staff and guests. We didnt book but we went at a early time at 4 as it did start getting busy around 5. Will 100% go back here to eat.”

“A family-style Hong Kong-flavoured restaurant with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The menu includes clear photos, so you can easily order just by looking at the pictures. Highly recommend the roast duck and roast pork. We also ordered the crispy noodles with pork ribs — the portion was generous and it was absolutely delicious. The iced lemon tea is also a must-try. If I visit York again, I’ll definitely come back here for dinner.”

“I am from Singapore . This is very authentic Chinese restaurant with a diverse menu including vegan options. Food is very tasty and service is excellent. They even provide complimentary tea. I came here alone for lunch and ordered the MLXG (Mala Xiangguo) which was super delicious and reasonably priced. Food portion was generous. I came back with my husband for dinner on the same day and we had beef noodle soup (non spicy) and the fried banana dessert . Huge portion with delicious soup, tender beef cubes and crunchy greens. I highly recommend this place. For vegan, you must try the food here too, the menu looks interesting and food is very tasty and reasonably priced. Will visit again if I come back to York one day.”

“It isn’t often I give 5 star but this place deserves it! Before you even get chance to walk in the place, staff are already greeting you and asking how we were. The staff were friendly throughout the whole service and were very welcoming/accommodating as I had a young baby. The food was amazing! There is a large selection so there will definitely be something for everyone! On this occasion, we went for one of the set menus which is great value for what you get. The portions were perfect sizes and there was not a long wait time. If I lived in/near York, this place would definitely be a regular stop for me!”

“I googled this takeaway to tell a friend of how good it is and can’t believe the bad reviews. I’ve been ordering from here for over a year now and never had a bad meal, the food is always hot and fresh! The delivery takes on average an hour or a bit longer but happy to wait than order from somewhere else and be disappointed. So hard to find a good Chinese but this is our go to”

There’s lots of info on arrival about paying cash and latest pricing so customers have all the info to make a choice - it’s a really hard time with cost of living for everyone, totally supportive and faultless communication. “I had dinner with friends yesterday. The portions of course were big, the food also was served quickly, and the price was very reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants. My favorite was the spring rolls, which were really good! It is different from the normal small spring rolls, but big and crispy. And sweet and sour chicken with duck dish.”

“Oh what a Chinese this is. If you know Golden City you will already know what an amazing Chinese it is, but if you’ve not come across it before, don’t look any further. I have been coming here for around 13 years and my wife and her family have been coming here for around 30 years. In that time we have never had a bad meal. Honestly everything on the menu is fantastic, I haven’t tried everything but a good handful of dishes and most starters. I strongly recommend the salt and pepper chicken or prawns, chicken in black beans and the sweet and sour chicken. The prices have gone up over the years which is understandable but absolutely worth it for the portion sizes you get and the quality of the food. Thank you Golden City.”

“A fantastic family meal! We had booked a table for 7pm and arrived on the dot, there wasn’t any other customers in at that point so we got seated and served straight away. We browsed the menu and ordered quite a few different dishes, our drinks came straight away and the food wasn’t much longer! The aromatic duck starter was lovely however there wasn’t enough wraps, we were maybe 2-3 short of what we needed, it would also be nice to see bigger duck portion options as you can only order 1/4 crispy duck. Our mains arrived shortly after, all of which looked, smelled and tasted amazing. The place started to fill up and before we knew it there wasn’t a table empty which is great to see! Some of the dishes are a little pricey but honestly the taste and portion sizes make up for it! We live 3 hours away from York and are already planning our next trip so that we can come back to Hong Kong Chop House for another delicious Chinese feast! Keep up the great work.”

“I honestly don't know how they can produce such high quality food as a buffet, with so many available dishes. All the meat was tender, even the beef. They had some unusual dishes to try, like eel sushi, which was delicious and apples cooked in wine, which was the star of the show, in my opinion. Very friendly staff too. “The place looked interesting from outside, so me and my partner decided to go in and try it out. Basically you need to cook your own soop, you choose the ingradients and you need to cook them. The staff was friendly, although it felt that they are new and they don't know everything. The food was good, but if you want extreme hot food this is the perfect place. I saw people in tears, I saw obr person the sweat was dripping from his head that hot was the food. Good place, clean and not too expensive. It was our first time but we definitely will go back next time when we will go to visit York.”
