“I was given a friendly welcome and during my visit I tried one of the small plate dishes they serve - seabass with mussels, coconut and massaman, served on a bed of tenderstem broccoli. The plate might have been small but the portion was generous and beautifully tasty. Highly recommended.”

    The Hideout Bistro & Bar

    ★★★★☆ 4.5
    Closed

“Love this place! Managed to book a table last minute on the Friday evening a 6pm. The food was amazing, as always. Never disappointed. Lovely staff, great service. Had pigeon breast, fried zucchini, olives. The pan fried salmon, with asparagus, poached egg, Jersey royal potatoes & hollandaise sauce was exceptional. There were 4 of us, and also had a risotto, and a chicken burger. No room for desserts! Great cocktails too. Have also been for breakfast and lunch before now! Would highly recommend.”

Old No 7 Bar Grill Food

    ★★★★☆ 4.4

“I love this place! One of two venues in Wrexham I can comfortably call nice, classy or desirable. Great atmosphere, good food and the cocktails are spectacular. Rarely get into anything much more than the long island iced tea but have samples a good cross section over the years. The atmosphere is cosy early on, with comfortable, stylish furnishings and low-ish lighting, suited to quiet drinks with conversation, dates etc. Later into the evening on weekends at least they have some great local talent in doing acoustic covers and original music with plenty of audience participation encouraged but not in a lazy way. Food is a pleasant mix of Mediterranean through traditional and well executed. I've been there as a casual visitor for drinks and/or food and also on work outings, group catered and been equally pleased each time.”

“Just got back from Common wood after a four day fishing trip on Llewellyn lake and had a great time, me and my pal both beat our personal best. The fish in Llewellyn are in amazing condition the place is pretty clean and tidy. The Bailiff Tony was brilliant, he came around every morning and anything we needed he sorted, he also shared his knowledge of the lake with us. We had breakfast delivered to our pegs and we also went down to the bar for a pizza and beers in the evening. The pizza’s are handmade and cooked in a pizza oven and it’s the best tasting pizza i have had in a while. The food and atmosphere is great.”

    The Bowling Green Inn

    ★★★★☆ 4.5
    Open

“Dawn runs a marvellous, traditional Welsh pub. In 1643 Oliver Cromwell set his cannons up on the site of what would become the future pub's namesake bowling greens, then he shelled the Parish church before burning a lot of the town. One thing that's never burnt however are the dinners that fly out of Bowling Greens kitchen. Superb, hearty, honest scran. Fine selection of beers, wines & spirits, great dart board + teams, too. All welcome in this midweek drinkers experience.”

The room was large, pleasant and we were lucky enough to be able to use the balcony. The addition of the 2nd room for the buffet was ideal. We will definitely use again for any upcoming family functions. Thanks all concerned. Xx”

“Had a lovely carvery here recently. The owner was very welcoming and accommodated my partners request to change the TV channel when we were the first in the pub seating section. The food was really delicious, and the interior quaint and well kept. Out at the rear could do with a tidy up, but the weather has been pants recently, so don't let that put you off. We will definitely be back.”
