“Wow - find of the day. Unbelievable choice of craft ales on tap and in cans and bottles. Real friendly atmosphere with like minded craft ale lovers plus a great bar tender who certainly knows his business.”
“I don't normally go to Starbucks. I find the coffee too bitter. However, I went there today after a long walk. The staff were lovely and so welcoming. They wore the nicer message in the cup. To too this, the latte was so nice! Well done to the staff!”
“This is a very nice quirky little shop with a very helpful owner. I will definitely be going there again to purchase homebrew equipment. He also has a huge selection of homebrew spirits.”
“Enjoyed a delicious, fresh baked scone with excellent coffee. I only came to Waitrose to use the cash point in between changing trains. So glad I dropped into their most soothing cafe. Such reasonable prices, friendly staff, free papers to read & tranquil atmosphere thanks to no annoying background music. If I lived in Chester I would be here all the time!”
“Cosy little tap room/shop I popped into whilst staying at a local air bnb. A varied, interesting selection of drinks with some options on tap too. Modern and clean environment. Recommended.”
“Lovely little café, not much room inside but still a hidden delight. Made an amazing hot chocolate pretty fair price compared to the likes of Costa etc”
“We were waiting for train back to Liverpool and taking our pups to the park for a run. Walked past Costa and thought we would get a cuppa. With us having the pups we sat outside. We finished and then went the bathroom. We were informed then that Hoole Costa had become dog friendly and we could have gone inside. Always good to know when you have a dog.”
“I visited visited the Carlton for the 1st time last night. It was their open mike night and it was amazing. There was one singer guitarist there who was particularly amazing. He did a rendition of the Temptation's 'Papa was a Rolling Stone', one of my favourite all time songs. I cant remember ever having heard it being done so well. He had the most amazing diverse voice, he seemed to be able to do anything with it, from the highest register, to the lowest bass. Least to say I'll be back. I should add that I met some very nice, friendly people”
“Everything a British pub should be. Homely and inviting. A picture paints a thousand words. This is somewhere you go to ponder life on your own or have great chat with friends. They intentionally don't play music and they don't offer WiFi.”
“I booked 13 rooms at The Pied Bull in Chester for myself and a group of work colleagues, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The welcome on arrival was warm and genuine, and every member of staff we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating (special thanks to the ladies working when I checked in on the evening of the 26/11) The rooms were consistently clean, comfortable, and spacious, with excellent beds and generously sized showers. Everyone in our group commented on how well they slept and how well-maintained the rooms were. The blend of historic character with modern comfort added a special charm that really sets The Pied Bull apart. Breakfast was another standout: high-quality, hearty, and freshly prepared, exactly what we needed to start a busy day. For the standard of accommodation, service, and the central location, the value for money was genuinely impressive. Speaking of location, you couldn’t ask for more and a few of the group said they’d return here if they visit Chester again. Jason”
“Had a lovely meal at the weekend with the family and everyone was happy with their food. The menu has a good selection so should cater for everybody. Our server was very friendly and helped accommodate one of our dietary requirements. There's a very large beer garden section outside which is great for a sunny day. Carpark is on the smaller side.”
“Had a lovely time this evening at Chime celebrating our daughter’s 30th birthday. The food was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and they had so much time for our granddaughters. Will definitely be returning. Thank you all so much xx”
“Went in for dinner after wet day at the zoo. Pub was nice and warm when walked in and straight away the smell of the food in carvery smelt fantastic. We all ordered a soft drink and carvery each( 3 adults 2 children) chefs working on carvery one was Kenny didn't catch the other lads name but both were very pleasant. Young lady called Ellie brought are deserts who was also very attentive and smilie.”
“We rented their apartment unit with my parents to visit family in the Chester area. We stayed for 5 days. It was the best decision we ever made. The staff was courteous, the location is more than ideal. There are many shops in the area to get snacks or take-out. We never cooked, except for breakfast, but there is a fully loaded kitchen. It was clean and stylish, and close to everything. About a 5 min cab ride to the train station, and a five minute walk to major shopping and historical sites. They made cots available to us, and helped us with directions, or trouble shooting with the washing machine (included in the laundry room). Very reasonably priced, we found, as well. Would recommend to anyone, our relatives will be doing the same, hope to be back to visit another time!”
“Just had the best customer experiance by 2 lads that work here! Even though they were extremely busy they still made time to ask everyone how there day was, didn’t get there names but it was on Wednesday 3/12/25 @ 5.30pm! Hope this messages gets passed on to them! Really made our day!!”
