“Just stayed here for the 3rd time and still doesn’t disappoint! The staff are amazing. Very helpful and accommodating. Shout to David (sp?) at the front desk for looking after me during my stay. The rooms are modern and are well kept. Great sleeping conditions too. For Elites, the breakfast is next level and nothing runs out. Location is more Kilburn than Maida Vale, so just be prepared. Tons of shops and quick restaurants around. Only gripe is that there’s not a dedicated elite lounge. They make up for this by having complimentary drinks and appetizers at happy hour. Would definitely stay here again.”

“The hotel is excellent and we had a wonderful stay. We had a small issue with the heating in our room, which was resolved within 30 minutes. We also needed help getting a taxi, and Bashar was incredibly supportive and helpful, giving us the best advice possible. Thank you for the great service and hospitality.”

“Lovely sized room, helpful, chatty, friendly staff, lovely surroundings, good selection of breakfast food (including ham and cheese for the Continental breakfast!). Having stayed in half a dozen Premier Inns, I would say so far this is the Premier, Premier Inn. We got a complimentary glass of Prosecco each, whilst waiting for our taxi in the evening. The lovely lady staff member, who got us it, said that they give this to guests, to welcome them into the weekend. What a lovely, thoughtful, and added bonus for this experience. Although it varies from place to place, I have come to expect good service, rooms, and food from Premier Inn. They, as a company, help to make the experience.”

“Stay here a few times, for the value you seriously can't fault Mama Shelter. Always very welcoming and the rooms and furnished to a high standard and always clean. Some nice extras and great breakfast. The restaurant downstairs is super tasty and offers a unique room service/pick-up system. If you stay at The Hoxton, Mama Shelter gives a similar feel (same group) - location is ok but not the best.”

“Really nice hotel and great value for money. Staff were friendly. Rooms were immaculate. Breakfast was great. Only mild concern was the location? It felt quite out of place and the direct route from Whitechapel tube station feels quite dodgy especially at night. Some great food places around the area though.”

“Nice hotel at a reasonable price with really great staff. Loved the breakfast with many options and again with great staff that was very observant and kept everything clean and tidy around the buffet and tables. The hotel sits next to the Underground (Aldgate East) and just a 10 min. walk to Liverpool Street Station. So thumbs up - would choose again.”

“It is customary to post, post departure but I must give credit to all staff and venue. The amenities are good and staff well attentive. The Xmas theme and little treats are more than welcoming and a pleasant surprise. The service and food are amazing. This was a great idea and thank you to the entire team. “I visited Eagle London recently after more than 15 years—and wow, what a great experience! It’s still such a cool, iconic venue, and I feel lucky that places like this are still around. In a time when LGBTQ+ spaces are disappearing, Eagle is more important than ever. It’s the perfect mix of cool nostalgia, good ol’ flirting, and fresh, welcoming vibes. The crowd was fun, the energy was great, and the whole night just had that special something that’s hard to find elsewhere. So glad I came back—and I’ll definitely be back again soon!”

“Sugoi is one of my go-to places to deliver food from whenever I have a sushi craving. The concept of a sushi taco is something I’ve never come across before but it works so well. It can be a bit messy to eat but that comes with the territory. The food is always so delicious and the flavours are spot on. I would 100% recommend Sugoi JPN to anyone who loves sushi and wants to try something new.”

She was quick, efficient, and genial-- any time we do come back to Miyako, it will be because of how exceptional her service was. “Nobu is above the price range where we normally eat out but as we are fans of Nippon food, thought it was worth visiting the grand daddy of Japanese/Peruvian restaurants. It was an enjoyable experience, if dear. Our main waiter was excellent, advising on how much to order, deciding on the sequence and pairing of food arrivals, and instructing us how to best to enjoy certain dishes. This was not the case with all staff who sometimes just dumped dishes on our table. Happily our main waiter stopped by to instruct us to taste the miso black cod on its own first before trying it with the dots of sauce and saving the wand of pickled ginger for the end. Similarly the dry miso powder served with the grilled asparagus was meant to be sprinkled on top, though we also used it as condiment for dipping. First to arrive was a double order of tuna tacos with dry miso. Very delicious, served at room temperature and the seasoning was more reminiscent of truffle than miso. Tiny portion, though, with taco shells just shy 3 inches in diameter. Second to arrive were the star dishes of black cod miso and grilled asparagus with dry miso, both served warm. Portion sizes were thankfully generous. The black cod was delicious because the sweet miso and mirin marinade was applied very thinly and grilled until slightly blackened, so the flavour was complex rather than just sweet. It didn't need the dots of extra marinade mixture on the plate which we both found too sweet. A long thin stalk of pickled ginger was decorative both for its sculptural shape as well as its fuschia to white ombre hue. However, it tasted just like the pickled ginger you normally get with sushi. Asparagus was attractively charred but still succulent so probably blanched prior to grilling. Apologies for the photos as we started tucking into this course before remembering to take a photograph. Next to arrive were chicken skewers with anticucho sauce. Chicken breast was shockingly tender and juicy. I do not know how the kitchen team achieved this texture. Anticucho sauce was okay but nothing special--pretty much the same as in other Nippon restaurants. The garnishes of pickled cauliflower, hijiki and daikon were a lovely contrast. A sweet puree of pumpkin was a nice foil for the anticucho sauce. This portion consisted of two large skewers. Finally our order of maki fillers arrived. We had been unnecessarily worried about tiny portions so ordered a few rolls to fill up on rice. Scheduling these to arrive last was last was a brilliant move on the part of our waiter, as these items were not spectacularly different from maki rolls available at any Japanese takeaway that uses decent fish and serves sushi rice at the correct temperature. I liked the futomaki style house roll served with soy. We also had yellow tail and Jalapeno roll served with ponzu. We took home some maki's in a takeaway box because we were full. The restaurant is windowless in the basement though there is a pretty honey wood decor, recalling both Scandi and Japanese aesthetics. The wood panelling also resulted in excellent acoustics. The disco beats from the bar were far away enough not to be disturbing. Portion sizes were mainly good. I was a little surprised that the only South American ingredient in our order was chilli. We washed down our meal with the cheapest red at £55 which was very pleasant. This is at a price point where we might not dine here again. Dinner for two including the bottle of house wine came to £219. I was glad for the experience and certainly learned some new things to try to reproduce at home.”

“We initially came here to try out the cocktails which were delicious, especially the zombie passion fruit. We decided on a taco sharing platter, nachos, buttermilk chicken and bravas for four of us and was perfect, we even had some leftovers. Everything was really tasty. Great service and very efficient.”

“Aya was nothing short of exceptional. While I typically eat vegetarian and value having good veggie options on the menu (of which there were a few at Aya), I must say I opted for the meat options in my trip and they were simply stunning. I ordered a garlic and spice marinated boneless baby chicken with rice, and I genuinely couldn't believe how juicy and flavourful the chicken was. Even thinking about the dish now is making my mouth water, the marination and seasoning was done to perfection, and pairing the chicken with the sumac onions, some of the fluffy rice and maybe some sauces, all of those components mixed together yielded one of the tastiest bites of chicken you can get. I will also give big bonus points to the hummus and ful medammas, which were beautifully smooth and also seasoned perfectly. Service was also great, we came without a booking and were seen right away, sat down, ordered and received our food not too long after. To sum up Aya in one word, I would say balance. Truly, their flavours in each and every dish we tried were balanced perfectly and there was not a negative anywhere in our meal. Highly highly recommend!”

“The lamb rack was grilled to perfection, tender and juicy with just the right amount of pink inside. It was paired with a rosemary sauce that enhanced the flavor beautifully. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed beans, the plate was both hearty and refined. Every bite felt indulgent, making it a dish worth savoring slowly.”

“Best Thai in Croydon. Having been to Thailand and tried most Thai outlets around Croydon, I think this is currently the most authentic I’ve experienced. Usually our go to takeaway but went to the restaurant for first time yesterday. Same great food & waitress was amazing; working insanely hard to keep everyone happy. Great job Tuk Tuk!”

“Always have lunch here before Spurs games. And it's always busy. Good, straightforward, fresh food. Better fish and chips than a lot of fish and chip shops. Breakfasts, burgers and kebabs all good. Omlettes seem popular too.”

“I went here last weekend for the 1st time, with someone who had been before and recommended it. The staff were friendly and gave the right amount of time between ordering food and drinks. The food was wonderful - We all opted for the lamb chop starters which were very tasty. The mains of prawn and lamb dishes went down very well and the portion sizes were generous. My always 'go to' dish is saag aloo which defines a good restaurant to me. The spinach and potatoes were not overcooked and tasted delicious. Would definitely go here again”

We opted for the chef’s special, a generous spread designed for four that not only satisfied everyone at the table but also left us with enough to take home. The drinks menu impressed, with the piña colada standing out as a highlight. While the cold meze was enjoyable though not the best I’ve had, the overall experience was excellent. My colleagues thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and the chilli sauce in particular deserves special praise—easily a 10/10. The service was good however we had to wave the waitress few times for attention and had to ask for more bread. Overall good choice for a last minute decision.”
