“This is a rather special old inn. We had a wonderful, though very brief, overnight stay with breakfast in the morning, the day after a long road journey. Wound down with a nightcap in the company of James and Jules at the bar; they were great hosts. The room and, in particular, the bed were just superb. The bathroom: everything clean and just as you'd want it. Mary made us a very good breakfast and was also very friendly. It was clear all the staff we met actually care and want their guests to enjoy their stay and be comfortable. Highly recommended.”

“This truly is a lovely restaurant. The waiters are very caring and attentive. I need gluten free because I am celiac and they work with the chef to let you know what you can eat. “I tried this new restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was very vibrant and welcoming as you stepped inside, greeted by a lovely young lady with a huge smile on her face. I opted for the jerk chicken and rice, the meat was tender and coated in the most succulent sauce I've ever tasted. What impressed me most is the food was served in good time and it was a good sized portion too! I liked how the hostess done her utmost to make sure I was happy with everything. The area has been crying out for something like this for a long time, I'll 100% coming back.”

“Delicious dinner with good wine. My husband wanted to go as he enjoys their burgers. I went for a Persian dish with lamb and aubergines that I hadn’t tried before. It was so delicious, the lamb was really tender and it was perfectly spiced. Also I had a large and very nice glass of Rioja which is worth asking for as it went perfectly with the meal. We shared a starter, each had a main, 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer. All excellent. We’ll definitely be back, keen to try their steaks.”

“I am very sad to report that Maxims has, for months, been closed. There seems to be no evidence that anything has been moved or changed inside. The website states that it is 'temporarily closed' so I do hope that it will re-open very soon. The front of house service is polite and efficient, the star is the food and it shines. The entire menu looks excellent. We had the homemade Ragu, homemade pasta, it was superb. We also ordered a picannte pizza which was expertly made, like you'd eat in Napoli. We also shared zucchini fritti and a side salad which were both well done. Simple, good food. This will become a regular. It's tops.”

“This Caribbean shop has become my go-to, especially in the winter. I usually order from them on Uber and the food just tastes so homey and comforting. I honestly buy their soup every couple of days because it’s that good and it’s the kind of meal that warms you right up. I’ve never had an issue with the quantity either. They’re always generous with the dumplings, potatoes, carrots, sweetcorn, and chicken. The flavours are amazing every single time. I’ve nearly tried nearly all of the food items by now”

“The experience i had in the hotel was amazing. I was in the executive suit, it had a jacuzzi and sauna in the bathroom, private bar and a wrap around balcony with an amazing view of the port and Standsted airport was just a throw stone away. I could see the planes landing, O2 was a zip line ride away from the hotel as well. The 3 course meal was amazing.”
