“Superb nosh! Excellent Spanish omelette, just what the doctor ordered! Friendly guy taking the orders too.”
“A proper coffee house which has very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They can tell you where the coffee is sourced (all of it is Colombian), the story behind the location & the processes undertaken. They actually roast all of their beans in house which gives it a very fresh and flavourful taste. The staff will help you identify what beans that would suit your coffee choice best, I.e americano, flat white etc. Really recommend visiting the cafe to sit in or take coffee for your commute from Berrylands. They also offer various pastries and snacks etc to complement your choice. I feel like that this is an independent cafe not to be missed, with expertise and flavours which will not be found at a local chain coffeehouse!”
“What a wonderful little restaurant! Despite having very high expectations due to all the great reviews, my family and I were still surprised at how great this place was. The sashimi pieces were lovely and thick, their signature rolls were delicious but our favourite was the udon (unfortunately not pictured as we were too busy slurping it up!)- the noodles were cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend this place for the delicious food and the lovely attentive staff!”
“Great place for a lovely breakfast in sunny day have indoor and outdoor area. Very friendly owner. Nice coffee and panini! Very good price. May find free parking nearby!”
“I had one of the best if not the best pizza this year at this café/restaurant/deli. Everything was perfect. Delicious toppings and outstanding pizza base! Perfect! This place is not fancy but sometimes it's the simplest places that offer the best food.”
“Wow, the most delicious feta mini quiche ever! What a find! So much to choose from beautifully presented sweet and savory produce too. Lovely smiling staff. A wonderful surprise find for morning coffee with "pastries". Good value for money and quick service. We ate in, relaxing at the window bar seating, happily watching the rain! Highly recommended ( take away available too). JM”
“It is a lovely place where me and my friends have went for the past year in between our lessons in sixth form. The Owner is always incredibly friendly and kind and the food tastes incredible no matter the day (especially the panini’s and milkshakes). I would greatly recommend it as a stop for if you want a quick drink or are looking for a nice bite to eat with a friendly atmosphere.”
“This restaurant is amazing! Such yummy food at reasonable prices. Loved it! Every dish was super tasty and the portion size was as also good. It had cozy and nice ambiance with great staff taking care of the customers promptly. We ordered quite a number of dishes and each one was wonderful and worth it!! Will definitely visit again!!”
“I’ve visited this café multiple times. The staff are lovely, and they definitely serve the best coffee in town. The brunch is amazing - I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Surbiton!”
“Food was absolutely fantastic, staff were so lovely - was a perfect place for dinner, will definitely be coming back We ordered the beef and chicken pho with summer rolls - everything was delicious”
“We are a regular customer for teas and coffees and it’s our first year getting our Christmas tree. Wonderful, friendly service. We had a lovely experience picking our tree and the staff made it very special for our kids. 100% recommend it”
“A lovely little place tucked away by Surbiton station with a vast array of vegatarian options and a cosy, friendly feel. I had Foul-bil-Laban and a mint tea, both of which arrived quickly. My meal was not only delicious, super flavourful and fresh tasting, but a very generous portion! Definitely recommend, whether for a lunch or just a coffee break, as their drinks and dessert menus were also quite extensive and tasty looking.”
“Delicious food, I got the chicken wrap and chilli momo dumplings which were absolutely amazing, i would definitely be coming back for the dumplings. The staff were very friendly and great service”
“All I can say is bellisima!! I have been wanting to try The Roasting for quite sometime. It is definitely worth the wait. The coffee was great and the pistachio croissant was absolutely fabulous. It’s one of the nicest pastries I had. The prices were also decent and affordable. Service is also great. The guy helped me to choose pastries by giving me an idea of what each of them were and he also gave me a drink recommendation. I will definitely come back to try the other stuff.”
“Really nice independent cafe. Helpful and friendly staff, great coffee and everything I've tried is delicious.”
“If you are in the area you have to visit "The Antelope". The selection of drinks is just great. If you don't know what to drink or if you don't know a beer or cider, you may taste as long as you need to find your perfect drink. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great. Music is presented by a vinyl-record-player! We didn't have any food, but the kitchen was busy and everbody who had food looked very happy. Place to be!”
“I wish I could give more stars for the service here. I booked the French tarte afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday in august, and the chef carefully curated alternatives to cater to my mum’s nut allergy. We were made to feel so comfortable, the service was the best and it felt as though our waiter could not do enough! We were also encouraged to take our time and enjoy every bite. The flavours were amazing and the homemade jam was so good! Will definitely be returning.”
“Such a wonderful lunch! Highly recommend the sausage pasta (I was initially sad that they had run out of the Bolognese but this sausage pasta was INCREDIBLE!). Thank you for a wonderful time - we’ll be back!”
“Cosy little restaurant, seems family run. Very enjoyable meal in a welcoming environment. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!”
“Came at 16:00 with my wife, the family run restaurant are nice and the food is authentic and great value. Casual dining that hits the spot in a peaceful environment.”
“The man serving my friends and I was very helpful in answering questions we had about the food. He was also very nice and funny. The portion sizes are good and very filling. Would come back again.”
“Very good quality food and drink. Quickly served. My husband had the chicken kiev with chips and salad whist i had the prawn salad. Both meals were perfect and hot. The kiev still contained the garlic butter, something i never seem able to do and the chips crispy. My salad looked like the photo on the menu barring one thing. The prawns had sauce on them and were not plain as shown. This turned it into one huge prawn cocktail which i didn't mind at all. With a £20 bill i consider this great value for money.”
“A pub I've been meaning to write up for a while but haven't been too sure on when to dive into it. It's a local community pub, one of the very few independent ones in the area, but one I barely frequent, and I've not really got a good reason as to why. The first trip I went here, it was a cold covidy afternoon, and I was relegated to the sea of sofas in the garden. Collected together, like the aftermath of a flood having ripped through the front rooms of an entire village, a mish mash of the comfiest seats a pub garden has ever seen. To get there you'd need to hop on through the pub, greeted by locals playing board games with a nod, a lone bloke chewing the ear off the bar staff about the complexities of the Marvel universe pausing only to let you order, or a live band in the corner on Thursday & Sundays. A beer fridge is well stocked, keg beers are your accessible macro gear, but most come for the ale. Expertly kept rotating cask selection; you'll typically find Oakham, Surrey Hills or a couple of obscurer local breweries. Invariably served with a sparkler. The pub itself dates back to the late 1800s, and even used to have a small brewery on site, but it's only since Liz and Adam took it over that it's become this beacon of light amongst a sea of Young's pubs. It won multiple CAMRA awards in the mid 2010s, and continues to champion quality ale. Food wise they've chopped and changed. BBQ burger nights, slow pulled meats and veggie options, cheese nights too, and on the weekend I went they had "Emma" (forgot the IG tag), churning out Middle Eastern dishes, orders coming in early doors on a Sunday. Bar snacks knocking about, but few pubs in the area offer their location up to pop-ups, so it's nice to see the variety. It's a cosy place, you'll not find another one like it really, and to get 2 (good) pints south of a tenner in these parts is worthy of praise alone. Having done almost double digit visits now, I've never had the same experience twice in terms of locals, beers, Rona rules and food, yet the vibe remains the same. Welcoming, hospitable and inviting - a pub fully deserving of all the praise the locals have bestowed upon it.”
“I’ve visited a few times in the last month, predominantly to grab coffee and work. The staff are always very friendly and last time I visited with my partner, we were given a free pot of Persian tea, which was delicious. The coffee (particularly cappuccino) is excellent, as are the smoothies. The food is very good on the whole, though I would personally prefer the bacon fried or grilled. Would highly recommend popping by for a coffee and breakfast/brunch.”
“Morning sausages cafes nice and clean sausage and bacon baguette very tasty.. get down there and get some tasty grub inside you”
“One of my favourite places in Kingston/Surbiton. Freshly made dishes that taste amazing. Great customer service. A shot or two of limoncello after the dinner is a must”
“An absolute gem of a family run restaurant. Been coming here for over 20 years. It has always been consistent over that time. Lovely menu, well cooked food excellent service. A very good set menu as well as a la carte.”
“What a wonderful group Christmas meal we have just had. The food was generous and delicious. The printing of nameplates with food choice of each guest was genius. Festive decorations and crackers to pull made the atmosphere lovely and christmassy. Being able to pay with cash also helped for those without bank accounts!”
“The food here was absolutely delicious, with amazing quality and authentic Italian flavors. The ambience was warm and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, which made the experience feel truly special. Highly recommended!”
“Disability accessible. Ground floor entrance. Toilets on the ground floor. Staff welcoming and excellent hosts, they were very attentive and we felt well cared for.. Clean and well organised. The food is fresh, delicious, and has a good portion. We had more than we could manage, and they provided takeaway trays so we could take it home. There are lots of options for vegetarians. They will also tailor your curry to your taste, i.e., add chillies, make it more spicy or hot for you. The best bit was the trays that were provided with the poppadoms. The variety of choices and flavours were really good. Best chutneys and presentation ever. The restaurant is on the main road with bus stops, which is good. They provide takeaways and plenty of seating for cosy small tables or large groups. We went early so and it was not full but it got busier as the evening went on. One thing I like is to listen to is Indian music, which adds to my experience of the culture and atmosphere. However, the music was cheesy pop like Taylor Swift, but it was not distracting. Thank you for the complimentary liquor and chocolates at the end of our meal.”
