“We were staying in the tower hotel across the street, visiting from America. This pub looked fantastic, so we stopped by for a beer and fish and chips, I'm so glad we did because it was delicious. The next time we are visiting London mark my words we will be back. They had a great selection of beers on tap, the pub had a lot of character, you could walk around there and look at everything. The location is perfect right on the dock.”

“The Southwark tavern was a buzzing hive of busy bees fresh from their work or leisure activities in the london bridge area when i visited on a Saturday night in early-mid august. There was a lively atmosphere and plenty of honey to be found, some in the bottom of a tasty pint of jubel - peach flavoured lager. Whilst i was at the pub one of the staff managed to smash a glass behind the bar: -1 for service due to the trauma i endured when this incident took place. luckily no one was harmed but it was definitely a close call. I was also unable to take a video of the flush functionality of the conveniences within the Southwark tavern as, when i entered the gent's conveniences, there was another gent puking his guts up in there! reassured by his mates that he was ok I decided not to report this infraction to the staff at the Southwark tavern as we've all been there haven't we readers!! The pub seemed ok really, probably better options in the london bridge area but if it's convenient i would go here why not.”

“The George Canning reopened on Wednesday 25 August after a major refurbishment. I am pleased to report that they have started serving real ale again. Two cask beers on handpump when I visited: Doom Bar and Timothy Taylor's Landlord. And the Landlord is a bargain at £3.35 for a pint. Lots of outdoor seating most of it covered. Four screens showing sport. Very friendly and helpful staff.”

“Went in last night for a pizza from the guys at Slice — absolutely delicious! The crust was perfect, and the wings were really good too. Had a couple of drinks beforehand — nice crowd and great atmosphere. The happy hour between 6–7 is a bonus — a pint and a half for under a fiver! Great value all round.”

“Always a pleasure to frequent this gem! Hannah the bar manager always makes an effort to make me feel welcome and is a delight to talk to! The other bar staff are just as lovely and attentive. The food is good and atmosphere usually lively. Been a regular here for many years now and this new chapter for the pub is certainly its best yet!”

“I bought a Carerra bike for my son last week from Halfords in Twickenham (Ivy Bridge), and received great service. I went back a few days later to enquire about fitting a gear guard or derailer cover to the bike. Other staff members were not sure it was possible as they had not fitted one before to that bike. However Johno attended to me and went to look at the derailer of the same bike ion display in the store and worked out the best way to fit a gear guard on. As I walk with a crutch, and my son’s bike was in the car, Johno offered to come out to the car and fit gear guard to the cycle while it was still in the car. What brilliant service and Johno is a real credit to the organisation as nothing was too much trouble.”

“Casa Cruz: Notting Hill’s Chic Dining Gem with a temporary Parisian Twist Casa Cruz in Notting Hill is undeniably one of London’s trendiest spots, celebrated not only for its uniquely intimate vibe but also for its draw of an international, often star-studded clientele. Nestled amid the leafy streets of Notting Hill, this refined yet cozy neighborhood gem offers a two-story dining experience with a charming rooftop terrace. The terrace, open until 10 PM, provides an inviting, outdoorsy feel—a rare find that makes Casa Cruz stand out as a "home-away-from-home" for London locals and visitors alike. Ambiance and Design Spread over two beautifully designed, cozy floors, Casa Cruz impresses with its interior elegance. The restaurant’s décor blends classic and modern elements, offering an intimate, warm setting that enhances the dining experience. With soft lighting and thoughtful design, it’s easy to understand why it’s a longtime favorite for those in the spotlight and beyond. The rooftop terrace, though compact, adds a lovely touch, especially for those who appreciate a relaxed atmosphere outdoors. Special Collaboration with Jaïs In a recent twist, Casa Cruz has teamed up with Paris’s acclaimed restaurant, Jaïs, led by Chef Jaïs Mimoun, to bring a taste of Parisian sophistication to London. Running until December 20th, this collaboration transforms Casa Cruz into a Parisian-inspired brasserie. The menu reflects Chef Mimoun’s modern French sensibility, accented with international influences and served alongside a well-curated selection of predominantly French wines. The temporary menu is extensive and diverse, offering both classic à la carte options and daily specials. Diners can enjoy a balanced mix of fish, pasta, and meat options—the latter being Casa Cruz’s original specialty. Dining Experience and Food Quality The food quality at Casa Cruz lives up to its reputation. Despite being packed with diners and operating from a compact kitchen, the restaurant managed to deliver a seamless dining experience without noticeable delays. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, with flavors that were well-balanced from starters to dessert. The fish was delicate and fresh, the pasta dishes flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the meats—true to Casa Cruz’s reputation—were the stars of the menu. The attention to detail in each course highlighted the skill and passion in the kitchen, making for an exceptionally satisfying dining experience. Service and Atmosphere Casa Cruz prides itself on delivering top-notch service. The staff were not only professional but also attentive and warm, despite the high energy and full house. This attention to detail in service contributed significantly to the overall enjoyment of the evening, balancing the bustling atmosphere with a reassuringly refined touch. While Casa Cruz is always popular, weeknight visits are generally recommended for a more relaxed experience, as weekends can get quite lively. Overall Recommendation Casa Cruz offers an elevated dining experience that is both chic and intimate, a perfect mix for those seeking a stylish night out in Notting Hill. With its star-powered crowd, exceptional food, and warm service, it’s easy to see why Casa Cruz remains one of London’s most beloved dining spots. The collaboration with Chef Jaïs from Paris only enhances its appeal, bringing an exciting French twist that is worth experiencing before it concludes in December. Tip: Weekday visits are ideal if you prefer a more relaxed ambiance; weekend evenings can be bustling.”
