“We got a take away as we were feeling lazy and as a friend had recommended Haka we gave it a try. We had a mix of bits and loved everything we got, we ordered three rice and were surprised to find that they give big portions of rice rather than the small ones some restaurants do. We’ll be going back as we enjoyed the food and the quick turn around time too - about 10/15 minutes. Be warned you have to pay with cash so make sure to take some.”

“We recently visited with a group of residents from our local care home, based on the glowing recommendation of one of our residents who often comes here with her family, and what an excellent recommendation it was! From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or accommodating. They were attentive throughout our visit and kept us informed about when our meals would be served. The food was absolutely fantastic, fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble, and the whole experience was seamless from start to finish. This will definitely become a regular lunch spot for us. Highly recommended!”

“Having heard that the Indian Kitchen now allows customers to bring their own alcohol into the restaurant I thought I’d visit last night (Sunday) and found they had a buffet night where you choose anything off the menu for a set price. It was excellent! Probably the best keema nan ever! The head chef even came out to ask how the food was! Definitely will be back!”

“Came for Christmas dinner at the shire horse. Was greeted with a warm welcome from Mel, who seated us. We had booked the pre-ordered Christmas dinner. The food was brought out in a timely manor, and Amelia who looked after our table always checked in with us. Each dish was impeccable, especially impressed with the steak dinner as it was cooked perfectly to my liking. The atmosphere is warm, calm, and bubbly,a beautiful balance. Thank you to Mel, Stanley, Amelia and all the staff at the shire horse for making this Christmas special x”

“Good food across the board. Nice staff with timely service. Much appreciated. Fun quirk: Gandhi was strictly a teetotaler and anti alcohol. His birth state has banned alcohol for this reason. In the restaurant the non-alcoholic options were scarce. Not quite Gandhi in that aspect.”

“We had our 2024 wedding reception at the barn at The Olde Bell and it was a wonderful experience. Leah was very helpful in helping us figure out the timings, how to structure the day and the usual order of events since we were a bit clueless. On the day, Vincent was magnificent, so calm and collected, professional but warm. All the staff we had on our day was great, the food was fantastic (multiple guests said they really enjoyed it) and we had a great time. We also used the recommended suppliers for flowers and music and were very happy with both! As a clueless couple whose main requirement was for things to be nice and for everyone to have a good time (I know, not much to work with!), we received a great service and were very happy with how things turned out.”

“Card machine wasn’t working, but staff called us to explain in advance and check we were happy to pay by cash. Staff, especially Charlie, we’re super helpful and accommodating going extra mile for a birthday celebration and manually managing member discounts etc. Really good service from very helpful staff (who kept smiling and helping despite, by the sounds of things, them having a very bad day). We left with a smile Food was nice as always!”

They have kindly donated cakes and biscuits to the senior group and unpaid carers group that I help run, and it truly makes a difference. These donations help create a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and mean a great deal to people who often give so much of themselves caring for others. It’s wonderful to see a local store supporting the community in such a thoughtful and practical way. The staff are always friendly, approachable, and clearly care about the people around them.
