“We have visited many times for both meals in the restaurant and for a takeaway. Always fantastic food and very accommodating. They converted me to curries! Today was particularly special as we went to celebrate my toddler’s birthday. Thank you so much for the cake - it made all our days and was very very much appreciated! “Ordered take away via Uber Eats, although not tracked, delivery was prompt and on time. Western burger, ingredients felt fresh, great size, really tasty(!!), enjoyed the sauce, really juicy - give the burger that nice taste without running and messing too much!! Mrs also really pleased with classic burger. I am not normally the kind of person to write reviews but these burgers deserve one! Would definitely order again.”

“From my perspective, it's really , really good, love the extra coriander on the pizza, listened to what I wanted, and they delivered, this pizza is amazing, thank you guys. And just watch them grease drip traps, and don't let the driver walk in again!!! Otherwise a great pizza, and ask for it to be finished with fresh coriander, it's a taste sensation!!!!!”

“The best Waitrose coffee shop we've ever been to. Choose your own mug, very friendly and fast service, always have their delectable almond croissants, great coffee (lovely and hot), hot toasties, very nice seating, plenty of room, excellent toilets available! Stopping there is the highlight of our journey from and to the south from Cumberland. A very short and easy hop from the M6, and infinitely better than grim motorway services. Much better prices too, and a lovely Waitrose there if you want any groceries, drinks, snacks, gifts etc. In nice weather you can sit on tables outside. A big free carpark of course, and a petrol station handy close to the M6 roundabout on the way back. Perfect! Follow the map instead of Google - no need to go into the town. Straight off the M6 roundabout and keep straight on to the next roundabout and the car park is the last exit, go past the first car park (paid) to the free Waitrose car park. All very close to the roundabout. Opposite the picturesque old church tower.”

“First visit to this one and definitely my new favourite and the best in the area Staff are friendly and polite and listen to what you’re ordering and any special additions alterations to the standard menu meal. absolutely beautiful plenty of meat and the sauce balance is spot on, fresh ingredients and the beef had a lovely flavour to it, but was a little chewy and the dish would absolutely blow you away if it was a little more tender and melty, but and I have to stress do not let that put you off. Definitely the best Chinese in the area, based on what Iv seen so far.”

“Amazing venue, everywhere looks really funky great music playing. Service was good. Ordered 3 tapas plates each- quite big portions we couldn’t finish it all. All lovely The rustic bread with olive oil turned out to be toasted too much which meant it was a too hard around all edges and not great for dipping as didn’t absorb the oil- I’m sure this was a one off mistake Overall would definitely return”

Looked nice inside the restaurant for a sit down meal. Looked to be selling some craft beers. Would love to go back and sit in for a meal and some drinks.”

“Fabulous meal, the best food I've tasted for a long time. Could not fault anything! So much choice, so in the end went for the shallots with ham, the Roast lamb as a main, which just fell off the bone, so tender. And if you fancy a pudding but don't want to be overfaced, go for the small dessert and hot drink. Would definitely go again and recommend.”

“We had our first visit to Café on the Square yesterday as saw that they were dog friendly. Upon walking in we asked for a table and were immediately accommodated, we chose to sit outside in the spring sunshine which was lovely. The service was impeccable and the food was beautiful, we had club sandwiches and homemade cake to follow with tea and coffee. The tea was also loose leaf and came in a lovely filter pot. Will definitely be visiting again to work our way through the rest of the menu!”

“Had my first of many from here tonight! Very quick service, no waiting around whatsoever. Polite and friendly staff, the owner has clearly made the effort to design a nice interior too. The food was immense. The chicken was cooked perfectly, so tender. The mint sauce was to die for. Without doubt, the best Asian style cuisine I’ve had in my life. Really good portion sizes too and I’m no small eater. Quality place. Heard great things already and it proved itself tonight. Will be a regular from now on. “Absolutely fab place. Booked it for a Sunday afternoon baby shower. Wow, the food was lush & plentiful. We were all stuffed & there was such a good selection of both savouries & cakes. We had chicken croquettes, the most amazing mozzarella sticks, hot & cold sandwiches. They catered so well for one of the group who was vegan. Cocktails were lovely too! Great service & ambience. I look forward to returning & would definitely recommend!”

“We stayed here overnight on the way to a funeral in Cumbria, so we were not in the best spirits. We had a lovely meal, the food was beautiful cooked. It is a pub, but the food was better than some restaurants I have been to. All nicely presented and everything nice and clean. The public toilets were also really clean which gives me reassurance about the other areas. I have seen some negative reviews of the staff, but we found them to be very attentive and when there was no customer interaction they set to work cleaning, which was lovely to see. They run a quiz on Thursdays which we would happily go to. We stayed over for one night, everything was perfect, but I will look to review this separately.”
