“Extremely interesting house packed full of history”

“We rented Rosehill for a multigen family weekend with 11 adults and 9 children and cannot recommend it highly enough. The grounds are beautiful, there is ample to keep children (and adults!) entertained, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The hosts were friendly and easy to communicate with. We hired a private chef -Roots and Wings -for a Saturday adult dinner, also highly recommended. Overall, perfect for our needs.”

“Carlton is a great place to live - spacious, secure, clean and in a perfect location for Staffs Uni students! Just a short walk from the rail station and local food shops is an extra bonus! Staff are very friendly and always cater to individual needs. Rooms are great with lots of space and nice interior designs. Any problems with room maintenance are always solved quickly. I've thoroughly enjoyed living in Carlton for a year and look forward to another year there. Would definitely recommend to any students looking for a safe, friendly, affordable and overall welcoming environment to live in.”

“Having played here multiple times in the past, at least 20 and always enjoyed it. I’ve not played at Malkins Bank Golf Course for about four years until today. I knew by the website that there were new owners and they understood the trial ahead of them to get this once great course back to its best. The new style club house is superb. More modern, welcoming and solid range of food and drink. Driving range is closed due H&S reasons, but not current owners fault. The course is still great to play. Undulating, narrow in places, risk and reward, and fun packed holes. Yes, the fairways and greens need work, but once again I knew this from the website and still thought £25 was a good price for the round. A good green keeper will need at least 12 - 18 months to work the magic, but it will be worth it. Today was the most fun I’ve had playing golf in a long time. Thank you.”

“Beech Hill B&B can be accessed from the road, through a gate to a spacious parking area. The main house is beautiful and you can tell the owners value nature. I phoned Mungo, who greeted us on the drive and was very lovely, showing us to our room. The accommodation was spacious, clean and airy. We were asked to look over the menu and decide which breakfast we wanted. We chose two eggs, homemade ancient grain sourdough and homemade tomato sauce and the power smoothie de jour, a thick and delicious banana and berries made with oat milk. All in all, the hosts were very lovely, available when you need them and delivered a great stay. Beech Hill is highly recommended if you like quiet stays with a consideration for nature and ethically grown food. We would definitely stay again.”

“Once we found the place it was lovely, with wonderful views,very clean and homely, room was great, very comfotable, and the full english breakfast was a bonus,the owners were very polite and accommodating, I would definitely recommend a stay there.”

“Great local friendly B&B. Rooms were clean and tidy and the staff were great. The stairs up to room 3 and 4 are quite steep and narrow in parts so avoid those rooms if that's a problem for you. Recommended place to stay.”

“Lovely experience, the hostess is extremely kind and welcoming. The room is very cosy and the bed was super comfortable! Both the room and the bathroom were super clean and well taken care of. The hostess also provides a binder with all the information you could ever need, along with recommended walks, restaurants, and take out!”

“We were looking for a base for visits to Alton Towers and Chester Zoo and this was perfect. The whole family adored the place. Lovely, clean and spacious. The back garden was a real bonus (I think only one cottage has a garden from what I could see so I’d recommend booking that one if you can). There’s a gas BBQ and chiminea in the garden, which we made use of. The wi-fi connection was very poor. There were occasions when we were watching Netflix on the TV when it simply wouldn’t connect. We had the same issue trying to connect iPads and phones. Even when they did connect, the signal was on one bar. We ended up using mobile data and creating hotspots for the kids to connect to. Not ideal and not really a problem. Certainly not something I’d mark the place down for as it was brilliant and the owners were lovely. Highly recommended!”

“Absolutely wonderful - stunning countryside; the cottages have so much attention to detail, are comfortable and extremely clean, and if you have kids, this is the place for them: goats, chickens and giant rabbits, and a fabulous play area in the open barn. Your hosts are the most wonderful people too. Cannot recommend highly enough. ❤️”
