“It doesn't look very promising from the outside but I was persuaded by the good reviews to give this place a try. Excellent fish and chips - I ordered huss, which was meaty and full of flavour, as it should be. Huge portion of crispy chips. I saw a sushi order being collected and that looked excellent too. A great local, family run place which I plan to return to. One warning - they don't take cards, so you either have to pay cash or arrange a bank transfer which is a bit of a hassle. .”

“The kebabs are absolutely delicious, very cheap compared to Kebab shops and their Turkish kebabs with rice underneath if you’ve been to Turkey, you know what I’m talking aboutand the guys who work there are very friendly and polite Highly recommend”

I come from the Midlands and have struggled to find anywhere with decent Indian food in the whole of Sussex but Bengal Bay is finally somewhere to go for quality and authentic food. “Called in on a whim on a rainy Monday night. Ordered my usual affair: onion bhajis, chicken tikka jalfrezi, pilau rice, peshwari nann. Really great flavours in everything and a nice kick of spice as expected. Generous portions, bring your own beer and good value for money. Service was pleasant when needed but left me to get on with it! A proper curry for those times when the posh one's at company events don't quite hit the spot. I'll definitely be returning when back in Brighton.”

“Been out walking and just called in on the off chance as hadn’t booked. Was really busy but they fitted us in without a fuss - thanks. Had the Sunday roast (beef of course) and was not disappointed - it was fabulous! Bella took our order and a young lass with blonde hair served us (Jenni? I think, sorry didn’t get her name). We could see it was busy and the staff were busy but they kept an eye out for everyone. Really pleased we called in & will call in again next time we are in the area. Thank you.”

“I'm a planner. Wherever I go, I usually have a spreadsheet of carefully researched places to eat and drink on trips, so we're not left disappointed. So it was an unexpected delight to stumble upon this cafe, entirely by chance. We were so impressed with our first visit, we visited again, the next day on our short two day trip. Firstly, the menu is huge. We literally wanted to try everything. Every dish has something unique about it that has clearly been thought through. The food was stunning. Perfect. We had lunch one day (mushrooms on toast), and breakfast the next (pancakes and full English) and both were as good as each other. I don't say this lightly, when I say, they make the best hash browns I've ever had. I've tried making hash browns through my love for them and I've left feeling jealous at how they got these so perfect. Delicious drinks - coffees, juices and smoothies all made fresh. Unlike most cafes - they didn't do my pet hate and fill the glass with ice, which waters down the juice - winner! The service was attentive, friendly and speedy (on both visits). We are going to be telling everyone about this absolute gem and will visit as soon as we're back in Brighton.”

“Came here as it was a 5-minute walk away from our hotel, what a gem of a pizza place to find! There was a deal on where buying an XL-size pizza gets you a Small pizza for free - took that deal up and it ended up being my lunch & dinner the following day. Portion & toppings were superb (Mighty Meaty pictured), tasted top-notch (the Homemade Garlic sauce is lovely), and the owner was such a gentleman - great service all around, would highly recommend!”

Very friendly staff, very reasonably priced, very efficient, the quality of food was fantastic with generous portions & remained hot by the time it arrived home. We were also given a free bottle of Coke, prawn crackers & mini spring rolls. The takeaway runs very smoothly, especially as it was Chinese New Year.
