“Visited for early evening meal after finishing trading on a market stall for the day. Had a lovely turkey and ham hock pie which definitely seemed home made, stuffed with filling and the lashings of extra gravy was delicious. Really friendly young waiting staff. Will definitely return.”

“Despite growing up in the area this was my first "proper" time at The George and, have to say, first impressions were very good. Light, bright decor inside with plenty of seating options, including a dedicated dining area for meals and a spacious beer garden. Good atmosphere inside, with relaxing selection of background music that wasn't so loud as to be intrusive. Service was brilliant throughout, from the bright, friendly greeting on our arrival to the attentive staff looking after us during meal. Food allergy advised at time of booking was reiterated by the staff when taking our orders, which was reassuring. And, on the subject of the meal, the food was excellent - good portion sizes, very tasty and reasonably priced too. Everyone in our group was very happy with what they had. Would definitely recommend and, although we don't really get out much, we'll definitely be back.”

“Great pub located close to the canal, really friendly owner, allowed us to wash our clothes in the washing machine for a fair price. The food was great pub food, came out quickly, well priced. The drinks are priced well also. If you're coming through on a canal boat there is a mooring nearby so you can stop and eat/drink. They also have facilities for people in motorhomes to park up and stay for the night, really accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the area.”

The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a casual bite. I ordered the Classic Chicken Burger, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The portion size was generous, and it came with perfectly cooked chips and a fresh helping from the salad bar, which is always a great bonus at Harvester. What stood out most was the value for money and the attentive service throughout the meal. Everything felt well looked after, from the food to the cleanliness of the restaurant. If you’re after a hearty, satisfying meal in a comfortable setting, Harvester is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be returning soon!”

“First visit as they had a singer on, found out via Facebook so it was a last minute decision. I had the best time ever considering this was an afternoon event. The keyboard vocalist was brilliant. “What a fantastic pup me and my family have been going here for 20 years, plus it's a great atmosphere. It's in a lovely countryside setting. The food is amazing. I can honestly say it's the best burger I have ever eaten. The meat was packed full of juices, flame grilled, and tender meat. My grandad had the beef lasagna he said it was absolutely amazing. everything is homemade and fresh. The staff are wonderful, great service. 5 stars all around ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ would definitely always come here.”

“Came here for a roast dinner and it was lovely. The roasties and Yorkshire puds were excellent. There was fast service and lovely staff. Manager was so friendly and waiters were so lovely. Drinks were very good. I can’t stress enough how lovely this pub is and how massive the garden it’s such a sun trap. Best pub I’ve seen in a long time. Definitely would recommend and I will be bringing the family here.”

“Rarely leave reviews but I really enjoy this place. They delivery to me usually really fast, it’s always hot. You get so much meat/ decent portions for the price (kebabs in particular) and the quality of the meat doesn’t taste cheap. Only criticism is as follows: Next time you close for a month, please put a date when you reopen on the site as we’ve been waiting with no clue! So glad you’re open again! And perhaps a tad more lettuce on the kebabs, that’s the cheap part anyway :)!”

The room was modern, impeccably clean, and provided a comfortable base for my stay. ​However, the real highlight was the food. The Open Lobby Restaurant offers a dining experience far superior to its competitors. Breakfast was well-cooked with a great selection to start the day. Crucially, the evening meals were excellent—a significant step up from other Holiday Inns—and were genuinely worth the money. It's rare for hotel dining to be a key selling point, but here, it absolutely is.”
