“Today we ordered for the first time from this store, as we received a leaflet (btw the leaflet prices were cheaper than the prices online, probably outdated). Egg fried rice = Good! Would love to have some fine chopped creen onions on top just for the looks Spring rolls = Good! We ordered online via their website. The food was great overall. Good taste,nothing stale and well cooked. Noodle box = amazing Special noodles with OK sauce =amazing King prawns with oyster sauce = mid chow mein with beef and chicken = amazing BUT a bit spicy which was not noted in the menu, i guess a tad too much pepper for my taste. Will order again. Keep up the good quality.”

“We found the Shalimar a few weeks ago and have returned regularly since. The standard is always exactly the same.The curries are amazing! I have a Meat Masala(madras hot for me) and it is by far the best i`ve had. The added fresh coriander just finishes a stunningly tasty dish with tender meat, perfectly. My husband loves the chicken madras, in fact if it we upto him he would eat this daily. The staff are also lovely and very friendly. If you haven`t tried it, you really, really should!”

“Been ordering from Wendy for close to 20 years. Fantastic food at great prices. Highly recommend the Young Chow Fried Rice. Salt and Pepper Chips, the satays (not peanut based but deep and with a kick), and for duck lovers the Hong Kong style duck is very good. They don’t deliver or subscribe to the delivery services (JustEat, UberEats, Deliveroo etc) so you have to collect. Just means they constantly deliver good quality and aren’t under pressure to cater to the masses.”

The look, the texture the taste was absolutely spot on! The duck and pancakes, spring onions, wontons, all absolutely incredible. This place is a showcase of what you can do without meat! This place is a gem and a MUST go.”

“We came in for our first visit from Skipton last night. The whole experience was absolutely outstanding. We couldn't believe a Chinese restaurant of this standard was in Earby. The starters are incredibly well presented and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend the salt and pepper baby corn. The mains and rice were also great. Very generous portions. The Chinese lager on draught was creamy and probably one of the top three I've ever had. To top things off, the service couldn't have been better. We look forward to coming back and strongly recommend you order from the banquet menu. Terrific value.”

“Probably the best roast in the UK and I’ve tried loads from different cities and restaurants. The simple but amazing things I love about maxis rotisserie is the generous portions, tasty meats (the duck beats any roast duck in Leeds, roast pork belly is also super crispy and cha siu which I liked the least but was still good), you then get unlimited scallion ginger oil and chilli oil too to your liking. Loads of people visit here even locals so not just fellow Asian customers so you know the word has been passed around about how great maxis is. Service is also friendly too and they work so quickly so the queue tends to not take too long. Looking forward to visit maxis again and try different dishes as I heard the beef brisket is good too. One thing is remember to bring cash as they’re cash only!”

“I had dinner with friends yesterday. The portions of course were big, the food also was served quickly, and the price was very reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants. My favorite was the spring rolls, which were really good! It is different from the normal small spring rolls, but big and crispy. And sweet and sour chicken with duck dish.”

“Oh what a Chinese this is. If you know Golden City you will already know what an amazing Chinese it is, but if you’ve not come across it before, don’t look any further. I have been coming here for around 13 years and my wife and her family have been coming here for around 30 years. In that time we have never had a bad meal. Honestly everything on the menu is fantastic, I haven’t tried everything but a good handful of dishes and most starters. I strongly recommend the salt and pepper chicken or prawns, chicken in black beans and the sweet and sour chicken. The prices have gone up over the years which is understandable but absolutely worth it for the portion sizes you get and the quality of the food. Thank you Golden City.”
