“We have recently had a new log burner installed in our snug, replacing an old, useless gas fire. We worked with Becky in the York showroom and the install team were Tom and Matty. They were all professional and knowledgeable and we were pleased to have Tom and Matty in the house! It was a tricky job but it was carried out to a high standard and we are delighted with the result. The room has been transformed. Would happily recommend.”

“I haven't been to a barbers in years- I shave my own head and used to do my own face. I've just been letting the beard go wild, but it recently went from "mountain man" to "cult leader" so I thought it was time for a tidy up. Headed here based on other reviews and thought it would be worth a go. Booked via Booksy- dead easy and convenient. Arrived on time and got a cracking beard trim. Twenty minutes, full works- no nonsense. Neatened up perfectly (and my beard is all kinds of awkward) and finished with a straight razor and hot towel the old-fashioned way. Great value too. I wouldn't know about head hair, not having any myself. But if it's as good as the facial hair work, do it.”

Vicky had some imaginative solutions to our requirements and combined the kitchen project with also enlarging the downstairs toilet to create a utility room. Our new kitchen makes excellent use of space with plenty of storage as we wanted.”

“Extensive range of excellent quality furniture and accessories. Jason helped me to choose, nothing was too much trouble for him, it was difficult to choose from such an extensive range, but managed in the end to pick 2x 2 seaters at reasonable price.”

He was thorough and informative without being overbearing. “When I came to York to meet my overseas friend, we had actually passed this place. Since then, I've often wondered what it was like. So, seeing as I was spending the day in York, I decided to take a walk to Gatehouse Coffee and try it out. Although it's not an overly big place, it's very quirky and worth a visit! There's some chairs inside, and then a number of tables and chairs outside, which is great when the weather is nice. The lady who served me was super pleasant, as was the two chaps in there too! Was nice to sit outside and relax for a while with a cappuccino. Would definitely come back here again, and a great stop-off if you're walking the York City Walls!”

“We dined on a thu evening at The Rise for my parents wedding anniversary. We were greated by a card from the restaurant to my parents which was a lovely touch. For starters we had the cheese souffle. This was delicious however it said with walnuts but we didn't see any. For mains two of us had the lamb shanks, my husband had the fish and chips and my mum had the fish pie. Portion sizes were on the smaller side but more than adequate for us, the fish pie was larger and mum said every mouthful was packed with seafood. All were absolutely beautiful. Delicious well done chef! We only had two desserts, the pavlova and the chocolate mouse. Both were very tasty and each with its own twist on things. Food is on the more expensive side, but you pay for what you get and it's definitely worth it. Drinks are very expensive, nothing special but absolutely OK. Service fabulous the staff never stop working hard to ensure you are well cared for, very attentive. We were served by Jack mainly but all staff were fabulous. We have had two afternoon teas here which were also delicious and wonderful. The whole hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.”

“Weekday lunch after a 7m walk. The bar staff rearranged the table so we had more room and booked us into the tap room as we had a dog (I mistakenly booked the restaurant). Easy online booking, good menu choice and all the food was delicious and decently cooked. We were informed that the food would take about 25m which it did. Easily recommended. “This hotel is a fantastic find with an unbeatable central location—just a 10-minute walk from the train station and directly opposite Betty’s Tea Rooms. My wife and I stayed for two nights and loved every moment. We received a call an hour before check-in to let us know our room was ready, and from the moment we entered, we were impressed by the décor and the warm welcome at reception. Our first night was in the Bank vault down in the basement which was a unique and memorable experience. The original vault door, stylish décor, large TV, strong WiFi, and great heating/air-con made the stay comfortable. We already knew about the quirks—like the open bathroom and occasional noise from above—so nothing came as a surprise. For the second night, we stayed in the Stella Solarium room with a private rooftop hot tub, and it was incredible. Spacious, beautifully decorated with original features, impressive views, and the hot tub pre-heated to 40°C. The hidden door leading to the Pink Bar was a fun touch too. Overall, this is a charming, character-filled hotel with plenty of personality. So if you're looking for a unique and quirky hotel with friendly staff you definitely won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended—10/10.”

“Had carpets replaced in 4 rooms plus stairs/landing. Customer service was excellent. Got a good price on a quality carpet, fitters were very skilled and professional. Had to rearrange a couple of dates due to a muscle strain, (we were offered the option of paying for the room clearing service but chose to do it ourselves), we gave a few days notice and all was rearranged easily and seamlessly. I really appreciated the positive, can-do attitude and highly recommend Fully Floored. I don’t normally leave reviews but I’m so delighted, these guys deserve every success.”
