“My daughter has attended York Stage School for over 3 years and absolutely loves it. The quality & talent of the teaching staff is brilliant and not only does she learn so much, it is also great for building her confidence and getting her to trying new things, sometimes out of her comfort zone. She recently attended the summer school/show in a week which was also fantastic - so well organised and the show too was brilliant. Would highly recommend to any parents of children considering performing arts classes.”
“Great drama class. Really inclusive and everyone feels welcome. Caryn is really enthusiastic and really knows her students.”
“My mum and I travelled from Spain to see Gary Oldman in YTR's production of Krapp's Last Tape and we had the loveliest time. We were fortunate enough to attend three performances this week and everyone from Gisele & Gary to everybody working at YTR were the kindest every time. Since I live abroad I thought I might have difficulties to purchase tickets and pre-order merch but everyone at box office were incredibly helpful and made the process very very easy. It's an experience we'll never ever forget and I'm so thankful to YTR for making it happen. I strongly recommend visiting if you have a chance. Lovely theatre with lovely staff & crew.”
“A big shout out for Tom for the support he gave us when we visited Everyman in York today. We are still adjusting to life in a wheelchair so were disappointed to find that there is no lift access to theatre one on the first floor. Tom patiently helped us negotiate the stairs and ensured that we were safely seated. His kindness and generosity contributed significantly to an enjoyable day out. That said, surely there should at least be a stair lift installed. Planning regulations were given as the reason for inadequate access provision but surely the Local Authority could be supporting the building owners to find a solution which respects the historic building whilst upholding York’s commitment to inclusivity.”
“Beautiful building, and a great venue for the choir performance we saw. I imagine it would be a great wedding venue or for a party.”
“Seats are very comfortable (better than Everyman, in fact). Ticket prices are probably the cheapest anywhere - £7 for an adult on a Saturday. Staff were friendly. Venue was clean. I'm not normally a fan of a multiplex cinema but this was a good experience.”
“A fantastic and inclusive school of performing arts, brilliant staff, understanding of children with additional needs. Highly recommended!”
“My daughter has been at Razz York for 6 years now and loves every minute of it. Hollie and Angela ensure that the teachers are skilled and provide a good range of dance, drama and singing. She was lucky enough to go to London with the school and perform at the Shaftesbury Theatre, all organised by the school. The performance was amazing thanks to the team of teachers and especially Jayden who did a lot of the choreography work. We would definitely recommend the school which has the right level of formality putting the children at ease but keeping them focused. There is a real sense of family within the school, with the students teachers and even parents.”
“My child has had a fantastic couple of years at Drama Kids. The teachers bring so much energy to the classes and there is a huge focus on the kids being involved in ideas and dialogue. My child’s teacher says she can see the confidence the classes have given, as she has no problems with public speaking. The end of term has a production, which is fantastic to watch. Highly recommend these classes to anyone interested in a drama class for lower primary onwards.”
“We were a small group of 8. Alfred was a great guide. He did an excellent job in walking us through the history of York from the Romans to the railways and was able to link the development of the city to landmarks that we passed - with a great commentary, extraordinary historical knowledge and a lot of humourous anecdotes thrown in. One of the best walking tours I have been on and I would thoroughly recommend this tour.”
“I have made a few purchases from Allan at Ideal AV. All have been faultless/ a pleasure to do business with. Allan supplied me with some OPPO players/accessories and most recently an EPSON QB1000. Delivered fast/perfectly. Allan even went to find out details that were not published by Epson at time of launch. If you need advice/great kit with a faultless service I recommend without hesitation Ideal AV”
“Very welcoming, accidentally walked past , and curiously wanted to know what the queue outside was for. Was told it was a comedy. So stayed to watch. Really enjoyed ourselves, really good improvisation. Didn't really know what we was in for. Was really surprised in a good way. Also the audience were so friendly and inviting. Whilst we were unsure in the queue, they were like ' oh don't go , please stay '. Was very touched by the friendly acceptance in a world full of uncertainty.”
“We went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night. Having seen the original London show several times, we were excited to see the musical again. We were not disappointed; the sets looked great, and the singing and dancing were excellent. It was the first time we'd been to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, but it won't be the last.”
“Absolutely love this venue. A hidden gem in York which offers theatre goers an intimate experience. The setting allows you to really feel part of what is onstage. We loved our recent visit and will be back as soon as we are able!”
“What a great night. We arrived 30 minutes before the show and it was all well organised. We were told where to go while we waited to go to our seats. From the start of the show to the end, it was so entertaining with lots of laughs and audience participation, and we couldn't stop laughing. All the cast played such great characters, and they all had great personalities, which showed during their performance. You can't take photos during the show, but you have a lot of opportunities at the end. If you do nothing else while visiting York, please go and see this show. You won't be disappointed.”
“A bit out of town because of the “nothing higher than the Minster” rules in York. A bugger to travel to from the centre. Saw - I SCREAM - excellent film. The whole place for a Wednesday night was a bit deadsville gulch.”
“The staff are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the cafe and cinema. They are also very supportive of the visual arts.”
“A lovely evening. Would recommend”
“Great lectures always taken place in this theatre. In school but open for public before pandemic.”
“Amazing drama school with teachers who go over and above. Highly recommend”
“My son started at Wakefield Stagecoach when he was 8. It has been fantastic to watch him grow in confidence and come out of his shell, which is all down to Katie and her team. He is 12 now and loves to go and has made a good group of friends. Stagecoach has given him lots of opportunities.”
“Went to see Street Car named desire on Saturday. The production by the York Uni Drama group was an excellent example of brilliant acting mixed with committment to.putting on a brilliant show.”
