“Brand new beer garden! Exactly what was needed. Looks great, brilliant atmosphere and my new favourite spot!”
“Brilliant little bar, friendly atmosphere. Some brilliant singers”
“It's always a good night out. Bar staff are always polite and friendly. It's much cleaner than it used to be too. The much needed refurb hasn't taken away any of its charm.”
“I had a wonderful dining experience at The Partridge after a walk around Marbury Park. The staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming. They were also very accommodating to us with dogs, staff also giving them a fuss and a biscuit each (we had 3 spaniels), which created a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. Overall, a lovely meal and an enjoyable visit. Will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend the ‘Partridge buddha bowl with added Halloumi’ which tasted delicious.”
“A diamond of a pub. We ate today enjoying the sunday lunch and a steak. The Sunday lunch, beef option, was absolute top notch. The beef was cooked lovely and was a generous portion. With a fantastic choice of veg and more gravy when we asked. My personal taste is to have my meals piping hot and unfortunately it wasn't really hot but this is my personal preference so no compliant. The steak was cooked to perfection and although I wasn't sure about the very chunky chips they were delicious. Again personal preference is that a Peppercorn sauce should have a peppery kick it was very mild. Again not a complaint just my personal preference. Would highly recommend booking prior to visit as lots of people were unable to get seats due to it being, deservingly, very busy. Would definitely recommend.”
“Celebrated my wife's 30th birthday here on Easter Saturday in the garden bar. Paul and all the staff made it a brilliant night for everybody, nothing was too much trouble, even supplied a DJ for the night. The buffet food was excellent, and plenty of beers to choose from at good prices. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to book for a birthday party! Thanks again to everyone at the kings head.”
“Popped in and a taxi was called for me upon request. Enjoyed my quick pint”
“21ST MAY 2025. Wandering Wednesday’ took Hubby Neil and I, just a few miles down the road in Lowton to…….. ‘The Travellers Rest’, there are so many places we have passed over the years and never ventured in side, as we’ve always tended to eat on our door step or simply returned with the pubs we liked….. this is definitely one of those pub ‘Gems’ that we have missed out on over the years….. inside the decor is tastefully done and the restaurant was pristine. Our servers today were Destiny, Dylan, Catherine and Kay, they were all very polite, smiley, professional and attentive, they gave a great all round service….. also a big shout out to the chefs in the background, your food presentation was perfect, all the dishes were delicious and piping hot….. Thank you, you are all massive credit to this establishment. Staters: We both had the same, which was Crispy Black Pudding & Bacon Stack, served on a Bubble & Squeak cake and drizzled with a creamy peppercorn sauce, garnished with pea shoots…. Entrée’s: Neil had a fillet of Salmon, with asparagus, lay on a bed of mixed salad, along with hot new potatoes and all drizzled with a creamy dill dressing…. I had: Homemade Pie and Chips….. Chicken, Bacon & Vegetable pie, served with triple cooked chips, accompanied with seasonal vegetables of tenderstem broccoli, sliced leek, green beans and proper thick, rich gravy…. The pie was filled to the brim with big chunks of the filling and again everything was piping hot…. So tasty. We shared sliced white bloomer and butter, even the bread was light and fluffy! So the question is? Would we go back???? At the drop of a hat!! 100% YES!”
“I arrived at the Horseshoe Inn after struggling to find a nearby lunchtime venue with an attractive variety of food on the menu. Here I found the true Lord of the Pies and am now a devotee! This first time I dined on his award winning Braised Beef masterpiece with Truffle and Parmesan mash and will definitely return to taste more and more. There’s also plentiful choice for vegetarian diners.”
“Had a great morning here. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast with my lovely friends. We were well looked after by Jamie, who was so pleasant and attentive. I can highly recommend visiting the Ring o Bells, Daresbury.”
“On behalf of Carol and Geoff, would like to thank all the staff at Oliver’s who helped make our day so special. Fabulous food, fantastic service and amazing hosting. Would definitely recommend for any family celebration.”

“Inside it has a curry house called birchwood spice and the food is very nice, the good thing here is you can separate the restaurant from the pub and have a nice drink before or after. Plenty of parking”
“My daughter and I had an afternoon tea here today. It was delicious. The atmosphere was brilliant it was very busy but the service was outstanding the best ive ever had anywhere. The christmas decorations were fantastic. It all added to a real christmasy afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it.”

“Visited on a quiet Sunday for lunch. We were seated right by the fire which was very welcomed with the weather being particularly cold. We were served by Georgia who was very attentive throughout. The pork sunday lunch was fantastic, gravy and the creamy leeks made it. Great price for the portions.”
“Absolute great pub, very friendly staff and local customers make you feel very welcome, would highly recommend for a quick pop in but be warned you may stay longer as won't want to leave”
“Went for Sunday dinner with my friend last week. The place was extremely busy but was found a table almost immediately. Was served at the bar and carvery quickly and efficiency. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. Special shout out to Vicky for great service, who seemed to be everywhere! Also to Suzy who went out of her way to bring us such a lovely Christmas Pud, and her daughter in the kitchen who apparently made it up for us, as we were a bit fussy. Thank you all.”

“No food (apart from crisps and nuts!) but a genuinely lovely old fashioned drinking pub with a great atmosphere and excellent staff. What more can you want when you just want to go for a pint?”
“A lovely, friendly, local, with reasonably priced drinks and courteous staff. The Rose does not serve food, hence no star rating”
“Good darts venue. Good fresh beer and prices ok”
“Only been once had 2 pints was lovely, Great pint! Great service really friendly locals, lovely atmosphere, Just right! will 100% be visiting again”
“We had a lovely evening at the Taphouse in Culcheth with friends. The place was relaxing with a vibrant, friendly atmosphere. One of the highlights for me was the excellent selection of craft beers, available both in pints and schooners, which let us sample a variety of different brews. We definitely enjoyed working our way through a few of them! Even though it was busy, the whole place was well laid out and comfortable. The heated outdoor seating area was a fantastic touch, with blankets and cushions provided, and the staff even dried off the seats for us when we sat down. There’s a lovely awning as well, so you can enjoy being outside in comfort. All in all, it was a really great night, and I’d definitely recommend the Taphouse to anyone looking for a top notch place to meet and unwind.”
