“Easily the best craft beer spot in Warrington. The tap list is always rotating, so there’s something new to try every time you walk in, whether you’re after a hazy IPA, a crisp lager, or something a bit weird and wonderful. The fridge selection is next level too—properly cold-chained and packed with quality beers you won’t find in your average bar. The atmosphere is spot on—laid-back, no nonsense, and all about the beer. The staff actually know what they’re talking about, and you can tell they care about what they’re serving. No pretentious beer snobbery, just good pints and good chat.”
“Wonderful comforting roast dinner that takes Toby carvery, bends it over the knee of the dining room and gives it a thorough spanking. Loads of meat and gravy, beautifully cooked. Do yourself a favour and come in.”
“Great little cocktail bar with a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel right at home. A perfect spot to unwind with a well-made drink.”
“Exelent pub and music venue, top quality music and great staff running the Place, safe friendly environment but still loud and fun atmosphere, n £2.70 for a house larger in a city is the icing on the cake. Highly recommended”
“I took my husband for an afternoon tea at this lovely little place. It is quaint, serves lovely food, the staff were so friendly nothing was too much trouble, couldn't have done more to give us a lovely experience. Booked through buy a gift as it was a present but can go directly through them.”
“Honestly Very nice food! Nice environment. Friendly staff!”
“The staff were very helpful, friendly & attentive. Food was yummy & piping hot. The ordering was so streamlined & simple to navigate as we booked for a party of 15 which made it less stressful.”
“I would really recommend this pub for private function as I organised a work party and the they went above and beyond. We all had a great night”
“Warrington’s oldest pubs nestled uniquely between the River Mersey and the Sankey-St Helens Canal The pub’s location along the Trans Pennine Trail makes it a popular stop for hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts. Its large beer garden is perfect for enjoying the serene riverside views, and the welcoming atmosphere ensures a memorable experience. From the moment you step inside, the warm and welcoming ambiance transports you to a bygone era. The pub retains its traditional charm with rustic wooden interiors and vintage décor, while the friendly staff adds to the inviting atmosphere. The beer garden, overlooking the serene river, is undoubtedly the highlight—perfect for soaking up the sun on a lazy afternoon or enjoying a pint while watching the boats pass by. The Ferry Tavern offers a perfect blend of history, hospitality, and natural beauty. For those seeking an authentic experience in Warrington with a beautiful river view, this hidden gem is a must-visit.”
“What a gem. Loads of gluten free food on offer. Great service. 1 star down as it became much too loud at some point and we weren't offered to sit in the restauranty bit”
“Went for lunch on recommendation of a friend and wasnot disappointed. Had the 3 course fixed price lunch. Lovely fresh cooked food, generous portion, great value for money. Friendly staff, though did seem to be a little short handed. Lovely environment, nice and clean, plenty of parking. Will definitely be back.”
“The Tigers Head now has Landlady Tracy at the helm, and the pub has returned to being what it used be, ie a good local pub that serves good food and is all the better for it. We stayed in our motorhome on the grassed area at the rear of the pub which is free if you eat at the Tigers. Keralan Curry was particularly excellent as was the Chicken Ceasar Salad, and reasonably priced too. It would be nice to see the moho fraternity return here and support this quintessentially English pub, set in the delightful village of Norley. N.B. No need to bring supplies with you, there's a little shop opposite the pub which seems to stock everything!”
“I recently attended one of their tribute evenings which was George Michael and we had such an amazing night dancing and enjoying the feel-good atmosphere in such smart and luxurious surroundings! The act was a fantastic tribute to George Michael, his moves and voice were so like him. All of the staff were really friendly and attentive and made us feel really special. First time I’d been there and will definitely be returning! I enjoyed a cocktail and a bottle of house white perfectly served in an ice bucket. I didn’t have any food so can’t comment but I’ve heard the charcuterie and cheese boards are really tasty. Thumbs up for The Grand for a great night out!”
“I use this venue to run two of my Slimming World groups. Great venue and brilliant staff. Lots of parking right at the venue. Disabled access as well. Highly reccomend.”
“We held our charity event there on the 26th july and Adam and the team were so helpful from start to finish. Definitely recommend having your function there.”
“I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much. I ate three courses of which the starter and main were huge portions but I couldn't stop as they were all so delicious and ate the lot. My dessert was basically ice cream with a rich toffee sauce and digestive biscuits crumblings over it, just enough to finish my meal off and all washed down with 2 glasses of house Merlot.”
“100% would recommend. Local Indian reasturante. Staff very friendly and the food is top quality. The level of service is what you'd expect from an Indian reasturante. No request is an issue. Amazing 5 course deal for £16 something. See pictures.”
“Been to this pub a few times now, mostly weekday lunch with partner or friends...lovely food, good size beer garden with plenty of seats, dog friendly 1 room inside and the garden. Staff always friendly, park over the road in the recycling area ... definitely plan to come for an all day lunch in taxi before summer out ...”
“We first visited this pub well over 25 years ago for a well earned date night whilst we had a 2 hour babysitter . Sat outside with a bottle of wine and watched the farmer gathering his crops with a combine harvester from the field opposite . This memory has remained with us for all these years . We actually thought the pub had been demolished until by pure fluke we drove past a couple of weeks ago and realised it was still there and thriving ! Called in again for a few drinks sat outside looking at the same farmers field but without the combine unfortunately ! We booked for dinner this evening and all I can say is WOW ! Amazing atmosphere ! Fabulous food ! Great value for money ! Had the chicken & leek pie and couldn’t finish it as I was so full ! Copious amounts of chicken in the pie and mountains of well cooked veg ! Absolutely 10 out of 10 Staff are courteous and attentive and land lord & land lady are simply beautiful & welcoming ! Will definitely be back !!”
“This public house is certainly one of the best I've dined at. The menu choices are really excellent and really reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyed my evening here and will certainly be returning soon.”
“What a fantastic place to eat! Staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. Good was delicious, good portions and reasonably priced. Truly dog friendly, with a cosy atmosphere and warming log fire. Highly recommend!”
“Always enjoy our meals in here. They offer a gluten free menu, prices are decent, broad selection of drinks. Good friendly honest service. Have come a few times now both at lunch and tea. Kids loved playing footy outside in summer. Can be busy but it's a great pub so it will be. Prefer sitting outside with dog as its less noisy, hot and crowded for them. Highly recommended.”
“Welcoming pub, decent selection of drinks, good atmosphere and can play pool. Would love a dart board in there too. Dog-friendly.”
“Delicious beer at reasonable prices. The little garden at the back is great to relax. I found them much more welcoming to foreigners than other local pubs.”
“Love this pub. I come in on my own and always feel welcome. Garden is lovely”
Nestled next to the historic Newchurch Parish Church, The Pack Horse in Culcheth has been serving the community with pride. We offer a warm welcome and a cosy atmosphere perfect for enjoying home-cook...
“Not been here for years, called in last week what a change!! Lovely little pub, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in, barstaff advised on a wine and she was spot on, crisps sold, no food although unsure what other snacks are sold, there was a comment about no meals served but I say if it's not broken why try and fix it? The reviews speak for themselves! Will definitely be calling in next time I'm in the area....ps. dog friendly too.”
“Had the best birthday ever here on Saturday, Eric and Anne are the perfect hosts and absolutley went above and beyond to make it a day to remember. Can't wait for the next visit. Thank you x”
