There were 4 hand pumps on today. 3 real ales and a real cider The staff were ace The beers i had /a Hawks Head pale/was in fine fettle This pub, when drinking real ale in Ormskirk, is a must to come and have a pint in Saturday 14th November 2025 Today I again visited this superb micro/real ale bar This 1 roomed pub had 4 hand pulled ales on offer from local and small breweries Friendly well run easy going pub with great clientelle easy going background music This pub for real ales is a essential visit when in Ormskirk”

“It is decades since I was last at the Kicking Donkey. Went on a whim on a late Saturday lunchtime. Turned out to be a great decision - the food was lovely at reasonable prices for quality and portion size. The service was spot on; helpful and pleasant without being over the the top. And it's dog friendly which is a bonus. We will be back.”

“Been going here for years and never had a bad meal or bad service. Superb food on the regular menu but also a great, varying selection of specials with good portion sizes and not overpriced. Staff and atmosphere are lovely. It really is a stand out place in Ormskirk and long may it continue! I only have one point for improvement which is that the otherwise fantastic burgers can get a bit soggy at the bottom I think because of the tomato under the meat.”

“It is my favourite place to go and have brunch especially during weekends. They serve breakfast till 2.45 pm. It's a must visit place. Their food is amazing. I usually end up ordering their soup of the day , cheese toast with eggs, skin on fries and, iced coffee. The quantity they provide is really good. It fills you up really well. The food is delicioussssss. I've also tried their vanilla shake as well as their strawberry milkshake. They are all too good. So plz visit and show them some more love. The ambience is also great.”

“This pub was so cozy and adorable. The food and beer were great and the staff were all super friendly. As this was my first time in the area, it was definitely a pleasant surprise to stumble upon. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It is in a very accessible area and very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be going again if we get the chance!!! “I’m very fussy about pizza but needs must when you’re hungry. I ordered the American Hot Pizza, Garlic Cheese Pizza and fries. My order said it would be at least an hour however it arrived sooner than that. I was concerned that I’d just got a ‘keep warm’ pizza. I was worrying too much. The pizza was hot, well cooked and very tasty as was the garlic cheese pizza. The fries were hot and crisp. I’ll DEFINITELY be using Diego’s again. A very enjoyable meal!”
