“Had a great visit here. Food was really nice, served hot, tasted great and was good value for money. Nice drinks selection and not overly priced like a lot of places. The service made our visit though. Charlotte our waitress was fantastic. She was happy, smiley, polite and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. She even came back after we had our meals to ensure everything was OK. The restaurant was busy and she was running round all over the place ( a great employee, just what a busy pub needs). Look forward to our next visit.”

“Felt like a proper, independent British put with home made food. Small but high quality menu with vegetarian options, nice interior and really friendly staff. Recommended the roast, vegetarian nut roast was really good. Cute farm shop outside too. Roughly £30 for a main and two pints.”

“Great takeaway experience. Ordered chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce, roast pork chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables with prawns. Great portion sizes free prawn crackers. Cannot fault it good to know that there is a great takeaway in Widnes. Great job!”

“Food was piping hot on delivery, kebab meat was cooked to perfection and very generous portions, delivery guy was beyond polite and I found it very well priced. Was my first time ordering from here and it certainly will not be my last, when I want a kebab this will be my future regular place.”

“I have been a customer here for several years and never been disappointed. I popped in a few days ago for my usual chicken chow mein and was asked if I would like to try one of their new noodle boxes instead. Liking noodles but with few local options having been that good I decided to give it a try. I got a hot box which was really tasty, loads of meat and filled me up. Excellent choice to start doing these. I will definitely be ordering one again.”

“Called into the market to do a bit of shopping, my aunt suggested a sit down and a cup of tea, we found a table quite easy even though it was busy, the smell of the food made us hungry , so we had a cup of tea and a full breakfast each. One of the best cups of tea I’ve had in a long time, and the breakfast was delicious, everything cooked just right and more than enough food for the average appetites . The wait for the food was only a few minutes, Staff were very polite, attentive and friendly, tables and floors all very clean and tidy, staff were on the ball , as soon as a table became free , the staff were clearing and cleaning the tables ready for the next clients, staff were always surveying the room to either help anyone that required assistance or clearing tables . Our experience was wonderful, although it was busy, you could still chat without being drowned out by background noise, access is excellent, if you’re not too steady on your feet or use a buggy, there are more than enough tables available around the perimeter… and easy routes between tables , atmosphere is excellent too, the cafe is a cash only I believe but that’s not a problem there are enough cash machines around the building ….. thoroughly enjoyed our break .”

It was our 1st time eating out on christmas day and will for sure 100% be back next year ! We didn't have any issues, though, a few comments to be made regarding choices for the gluten-free menu, which I have raised already with GK, though it didn't dampen our days . The 0% was a delightful treat, and we were so glad we felt like we were 100% enjoying the christmas spirits . All snr staff were happy and delightful as always . Id 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone and especially if you're thinking of eating out christmas day !”

“We had our staff team meal last week and have been to the New Albion several times since it has changed management. We’ve had various meals, particularly enjoying the lamb, steak, loaded fries and chicken feast. This has been the place my family have been going for years, back to the original Albion days. It took a serious dip as the Cook House but since Stephen & Jake have taken over, it’s regained its atmosphere and charm. I approached Stephen about supporting Halton Cancer Support, a local charity and he was very eager to get involved. He sought opinion and support from the public and began to create a relationship with our work, supporting our annual 5K event. They couldn’t do enough to help and support us. They elevated our event, extending it into the evening, attracting new supporters for our charity and new customers in their lovely pub. We’ve enjoyed great food and drinks every time we’ve been. This has lead to me booking for a party of 18 near to Christmas and my family are booked in for Christmas Day lunch. I don’t think we would have engaged as a charity or returned as a family without the warmth and friendliness of Stephen, Jake, and their team. Thank you for bringing some joy back to an old Widnes favourite, and for bringing it back to life with your own added sparkle.”

“This is the best Greene King I’ve been to. It’s just had a massive refurb and looks very modern. It has a big TV wall with the match on the big screen. Next to it on the smaller TVs next to it with sky sports news so you can monitor the other matches at the same time. It has a fab dart board also that adds up your scores automatically. Toilets are spotless. My first meal here was burger and chips and it was fresh with some lovely sea salt on my chips. I was on lemonade and it was nice and tasty! Fully recommend this place and it has a nice size car park to make it easy to drive there. Monday nights is Speed Quizzing which is great fun, free to play and you can win a gift card as well.”
