“This is a perfect place...buzzy trattoria style downstairs with a great bar, lively outdoor seating and a beautiful bar. And white table clothes, proper dining room upstairs. The front of house service is polite and efficient, the star is the food and it shines. The entire menu looks excellent. We had the homemade Ragu, homemade pasta, it was superb. We also ordered a picannte pizza which was expertly made, like you'd eat in Napoli. We also shared zucchini fritti and a side salad which were both well done. Simple, good food. This will become a regular. It's tops.”

“We held a work party in the upstairs room at the Hospital Tavern and it was brilliant! The events manager was fantastically helpful, service was brilliant, and the selection of food and drink available was fab, we didn't scratch the surface of the equipment available (mics, lights, sound etc!) but what we used was great. “Stay here a few times, for the value you seriously can't fault Mama Shelter. Always very welcoming and the rooms and furnished to a high standard and always clean. Some nice extras and great breakfast. The restaurant downstairs is super tasty and offers a unique room service/pick-up system. If you stay at The Hoxton, Mama Shelter gives a similar feel (same group) - location is ok but not the best.”

“I was impressed by how organized and informative the London Zoo is. I visited with students to do a conservation workshop, and the quality of learning was outstanding. The zoo was incredibly clean, and constructed with so much purpose and intentionality. I appreciated that many animals that require larger enclosures were not located at this property and instead out at Whipsnade, though I still found it a little jarring having a zoo in the middle of a city, with roads literally passing through the middle of it. However, we saw how much work was being done to provide support and care for the animals, and it was clear that they are intentional in all they are doing. Would definitely recommend and visit again.”

The food was wonderful - We all opted for the lamb chop starters which were very tasty. The mains of prawn and lamb dishes went down very well and the portion sizes were generous. Pizza was hot like it was fresh out of the oven (unlike some other branches) and was so tasty! If I could rate 10 stars I would, honestly RECOMMEND!”
