I'd been so disappointed with local Chinese food that I gave up until a friend told me to try Dragon Palace and thank goodness I did (especially as the sesame prawn toast is the best I've ever eaten). I never get my order delivered, so can't comment on that. Instead I call my order in and then drive down to collect it and when I get back home to Ridgeway Park my food is still piping hot. I highly recommend the Dragon Palace... 10 out of 10.”

“I’m quite picky with food — partly because I’m an athlete and I won’t put anything low-quality into my body. Even when I’m dieting, I can always find something here that’s genuinely good, fresh, and satisfying. And on my “outside-the-diet” days, I absolutely love their dragon whisker prawns! The place itself is well looked after, with a warm and cozy atmosphere. The owner is amazing — you can see how much she cares about the restaurant and her guests. That level of attention really shows in both the service and the overall experience. Highly recommend.”

“Good local Chinese restaurants are on the wane so thank the stars for Mandarin Palace. The food is delicious and the portions are very generous indeed. The service is prompt and courteous. There is parking apparently round the back. The toilets are clean but in need of refurbishment. Celebrating 50 years so 15 per cent off (dining only) up to 31 July 2024! Expensive but worth it. We went to celebrate my daughters 18th. The portions are HUGE so if ordering set menu perhaps order for one less person.”

“I had passed by Gold Mine many times and noticed there always seemed to be a queue of people waiting outside during the day. I checked online and found they are popular for their dim sum but also their roast meat. I decided to pay them a visit as I love duck and pork dishes. My first impression was good as they were happy for me to make a reservation for one person and were very responsive to my requests. I had a three-course meal of Deep Fried Crispy Aromatic Duck, Roast Meat Rice (BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork) and Banana Fritters. I had also planned to have the House Special Bean Curd but had no room after my main course. All the dishes I had were delicious. The duck was probably the best I have ever had. It was crispy on the outside and the meat was not at all dry but succulent. I had no problem finishing all the pancakes. I asked for egg fried rice and it was well cooked, along with the two types of pork. The pork meats were full of flavour but not overpowering. The banana fritters were a great end to the meal. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was also very good. The servers were attentive but not at all intrusive and I did not have to wait very long at all between courses. One thing to note is that the restaurant was rather noisy and not the best place for a quiet or intimate meal. I was glad that I had my noise cancelling headphones with me. I would also recommend making a reservation, as it was very busy. I definitely recommend Gold Mine if you fancy having Chinese cuisine, especially their roast meat dishes. I hope to make another visit soon to try their dim sum, as it looks very good.”

“Let's just start with the punchline: I highly recommend this place. We were just casually walking around enjoying the after work pub environment that tends to spill out onto the streets. After grabbing a beer, we decided to walk around and see what other pubs and restaurants were in the area. We tend to enjoy the "small plate" meals during our work trips to London because it gives us a chance to enjoy a variety of foods. Ping Pong Bow did not disappoint. We selected several items, and they came out in sequence, allowing us to enjoy a few things at a time with the table not being overrun with dishes. Everything we selected was great, and we were only disappointed because we were full and have to wait to come back to try more items. This place is best enjoyed with a small group, which will just increase the variety of options you can try.”
