“The decor may be a bit dated, but this is the best Indian restaurant in London. Delicious curry, clean food, incredible value-for-money. The search is over. Go there.”

“Came here on the hottest day in the year so far and was grateful for the air conditioning. We had a mix of dim sum which consisted of salt and pepper squid, bbq pork puff, turnip cake, congee with pork and crispy roasted pork. Everything was delicious and authentic. Apart from the crispy pork which was more fat than meat and the fat wasn’t rendered enough. The chilli oil was powdery, which may have been because we were given the bottom of the jar. But these are minor improvements than can be made. The place was busy for a Tuesday. The staff were friendly and attentive enough. Music would have been a nice touch. Update: we visited again and enjoyed salt and pepper squid, chicken satay and prawn dumplings. If you don’t eat pork, there is very limited dim sum options. All the dishes were tasty. However don’t order the roasted duck rice, the pak choi, and sauce were delicious, but the roasted duck was so dry. A disappointing end to our meal. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcomed. They topped up our jasmine tea, and gave us wipes and fortune cookies, as well as sweets for the children. I would still go back, but I wouldn’t order the duck.”

The service was also top-notch; our servers were attentive and offered wonderful recommendations. I can't recommend 148 Chinese highly enough for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine. “My girlfriend and I visited The Duck and Rice ahead of my birthday and it honestly couldn’t have been better. The food was absolutely delicious, we shared sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, bao buns and venison pastries, and every single dish was so tasty. You could really tell the quality of the ingredients and the care that went into the cooking. A big shoutout has to go to our server, Hannah. She was so friendly, attentive without ever being overbearing, and genuinely made the whole evening feel special. It’s rare to come across service that feels that personal, and it honestly made all the difference. I have a peanut allergy, so I have to be careful eating out particularly with Chinese food, but Hannah handled it brilliantly. She was knowledgeable, reassuring, and made me feel completely at ease, which meant I could just relax and enjoy the meal. “The lunch and dinner deals are excellent value. You get to pretty much choose any starter and mains on the a la carte menu. I had a xiao long bao and a bowl of noodle for the main, all for under £15. The service was quick and efficient, great for a quick lunch bite.”

“Had a fantastic dinner here. Real gem of an Pan-Asian restaurant because they had a bit of everything and done in a way that wasn't so greasy. Compliant with covid-19 guidelines from the government, kept as much distance as possible. Food was great! Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken, Tofu in Sichuan Sauce with Ma Pao, Malaysian Chicken Satay and Mango Duck. Coconut rice is also a good treat. The staff are real friendly, a good laugh and definitely worth going to in the evenings if you like it quiet. Decor felt like it was taken from 1950s Hong Kong or Taipei. Keep up the good work folks! Service was fast and efficient, and the food was delicious — I highly recommend the prawn toast and the prawns with cashew.
